Just finished ep 8, and I am still not feeling the connection between Gong Sun Li and Jing Ke. I'm not sure if it's the actors or if the director wants to downplay their connection to make GSL and YZ's relationship more the focus.
This is suppose to be a love triangle where the girl loves one male the most, and then only starts to fall for the second. But right now I only get a brother/sister vibe off GSL and JK, and she's already pregnant.
Anyone want to share initial thoughts? I watched the trailers and Ying Zheng seems like a bit of an unstable asshole...
I don't see unstable more like split personality, brooding yet paranoid King and happy but somewhat clingy loverboy. But we are still very early in the series so my view will change by the time we hit episode 24.
Is it just me shipping GSL with YZ too much, or does GSL & LK lack chemistry? I know its only ep 4 but I don't…
I can see the how GSL and YZ can have love-hate relationship, but this is suppose to be a love triangle but for some reason I'm not getting that vibe from the second love interest LK.
Opening Intro Looks so dark and melodramatic! So excicted!!!!!!!
Its nice to see Zhang Vin in more mature role, as much as I loved him in Eternal Love and HZL. He gets to be a more brooding and intense charcther in this series, the trailers looked so promising and the opening eps with him dealing with his mother had a nice balance of anger without being over the top.
After seeing the first episode I'm sure that it would have a sad ending, maybe same as Introduction of the…
This is a prequel to Legend of Qin. So the sad ending is guarenteed if you go by the start of that series. Plus you know they casted Zhang Vin because he eyes are just prefect for playing charcthers that end up with broken hearts.
its like Zhang Vin playing a character with split personality in the first two eps. He does a complete 180 between opening moments as a cold and ruthless King, and then when he meets Sun Li he more relax and warm. They even have a playful bed scene in ep 2 and a hero saving the helpless maiden bonding moment.
I'm going to watch this as the episodes air, rather than binge watching it, but if this drama ends as badly…
I don't think that's what's happening here with this series, but Chinese film industry goes through trends and I think sad and open ended endings are the thing now, plus as a novel adaptation the director probably doesn't want to make the ending predicable.
About a decade ago there was a thing with modern dramas where villain wins and main leads ends up either dead or in ruins, this theme was also present in the early nineties. You just need to ride out the trends with re-runs and non trendy series.
But completely agreed with you about how bad the Princess Agent series ended up. It wasn't that the adaptation didn't follow the novel, but the series started out really good, with solid foundations in character and story growth, then it when off into a maze of convoluted revenge and motivations. New character and story line intros that didn't go anywhere, with previous ones left unfinished, the ending was like sticking a flower on top a manure pile.

You might want to binge watch it then. This is based on Legend of Qin,and is supposes to be its prequel about Tian Ming's parents, if you want to know the ending the first 10 mins of that should pretty much sum it up.
(bawlling) I won't accept this ending. I said I wont accept this ending..............
Except Yu Wen Yue made her a spy for the Eyes of God earlier in the series. Totally explains away what she's been doing with Yan Xun and Yan Bei, she was keeping a eye on them for Wei. And why she killed the Third Branch men, they were agents of Liang.
the final preview, what does it mean when Xinger said "I'll go to yuwen yue"? how is she going…
But I think a better translation of that line is "I'm going to Yu Wen Yue" as in -I'm going to find him-, any mandarin speakers out there willing to weight in? I'm limited to only understanding 1 in 20 cantonese words and maybe 5 words total in mandarin.
I watched 3 trailers for the last ep, and I'm confused too. In one she rushesafter he's been wounded and still kneeling on the ice and tells him she never wants to leave him again, and in a second one as she gets to the lake he's already sinking into the water?
i'm on ep 55 (uncut version) and yet i couldn't understand why this drama's name is PRINCESS AGENTS…
Princess Agent is a alternative title for the novel. Chu Qiao was originally a spy (agent) that got thrown into the conflict between Wei and Yan Bei, via time-travelling/soul migration (this got cut out in the tv series). She begins her new life as a slave that turned in Legendary General for Yan Bei in the rebellion against Wei. She later raises to nobility via marriage to a prince (Yu Wen Yue).
The series kind of follows this line, Chu Qiao is still a spy, just not a time travelling modern era one, and if the ending isn't craptastic, and Yu Wen Yue lives she does become a Princess when she marries him.
you've got to be kidding me, there are so many commercials and they dont even have the whole conversation…
I also agree with the current trend of including commercials in the middle of the video is annoying, wasn't it enough that I watched the ones at the beginning even the 10 min ones and the end? do they need add random commercials as part of the video too?
I don't think the Princess has romantic feelings for YWY, it more like he was the one person she had a connection to that wasn't tainted by the work she does and the shadow world she lives in.
So when she finds out her Brother Yue is also Yu Wen Yue head of the Eyes of God and her enemy, she is torn between losing her only friend and wanting to hold onto him.
can anyone tell me, who is Yuwen Hao? is he yuwen yue's father? im unsure about this, but i found their surname…
From Yu Wen Yue point of view, Yuwen Hao is his uncle from the Third Branch of the Yu Wen Family. Yu Wen Yue is considered to be a grandson of the First (Main) Branch.
When Mr Wu talks about the 3 generations of the Yu Wen Third Branch, he means the Grandfather Yu Wen Xi, the Uncle Yu Wen Hao, and the Cousin Yu Wen Huai.
I just watched this YouTube vid https://youtu.be/Lg-gIUOk4ps And they translated the convo between YWY and Xinger…
The first time she agrees to stay with him and not let his marriage to someone else or his not marrying her get in the way of being together.
The second time she wears puts on the ring, but I think she forgot that she told him what a engagement ring was because the book only showed the moment from Yan Xun point of view and he remembered what the rings means, but I don't remember if it showed her point of view regarding the proposal.
I skimmed thru the today episode without sub, what happened to Yuwen yue after meeting with Liang princess? NO…
Re-watched the scene the Princess had people spread a type on drug to cause dizziness, and tries to kill him because I think it translate that with him in her heart she can only go back to the person she was before she knew he was her pen pal by killing him. As for the abrupt recovery, earlier in the series he tells CQ that as descendants of spies the Yu family learn to counter the effects of common drugs and poisons, and aren't effected by it the way most people are.
I think the scene was a good contrasts about how he feels about Chu Qiao. Where both are enemy agents that have actively plotted harm against him and his country, with the Princess, who he has known longer, he ruthless cuts their connection and doesn't look back going as fall as destroying the token that connects them (the bird). And with Chu Qiao he constantly watches over her and runs to saves even if means choosing her over Wei (attacking Princess Chun'er to save CQ, not killing Xiliu Troops when they walked into his ambush). I just wished in happened earlier in the series like around ep 45 instead of having the pointless penpal thing drag out.

But the first eps aired yesterday on Sun one day earlier then what was announced, so if they stick to 6 a week that means the schedule is Sun to Tues.

But I think my reaction is going to be:
WTF - how can they ignore CQ past for 40 plus eps. only to bring it up now.
Okay fine - at least the they didn't all end up dead
I can't believe they - forgot about Xiao Ce
