so after reading this summary, how much has been spoiled for me?
just the main plot line involving the 3 of the main lead's love-life and motives, so about 20% of the story I think, the summary is probably like that because they want people to know the main story from the novel was kept for novel fans. But there's still a lot that happens the them before Chu Qiao leaves Yan Xun and chooses to fight with Yu Wen Yue instead.
The rest involves supporting characters and their sub stories, and Princess Yuan Chun is also a lead character and the summary doesn't mention her at all. Then you have spy organizations plotting to destabilize neighboring countries and personal grudges of other Princes, Princesses, Lordlings, and Maids, plus they added Wuxia elements on top of political scheming. So there is still a lot that is not in the summary.
I sooo mad tv version don't t have eng sub in youtube
Content is the same but the tv version is usually ahead in the story. Currently the tv version is ~30min ahead, since the uncut version doesn't get released until after whatever parts it contains has been aired on tv first.
OKKKKKK folks, for those who have read this novel I need spoilers!!! I really want to know who Xinger ends up…
'male lead will die'- Nope both leads live, at least in the novel. But only Yu Wen Yue gets Chu Qiao.
'tragic ending' - depends on which character you're following, not all of them make it to the end and 'happy' is subjective. Yan Xun becomes a emperor and Yan Bei is no longer subject to Wei, but his ending while not tragic isn't 'happy' either.
ok! we are in episode 44 and she's folloing YX yet... if it's true that they have doen just ⅔ of the…
I think the beginning of the novel and middle-ish parts regarding YWY and CQ relationship can be considered the first 43 eps. now the next 20 eps will be about the rebellion how it effects CQ. I am very disappointed with how little of CQ's military career will be covered compared to her screwy liovelife. 40 hours of who's in love with CQ and only 20 hours left to cover how she becomes a Legendary General?
How bad is the love triangle in this? Unfortunately, I have trouble sitting through dramas where the love triangle…
The triangle in this drama isn't that bad. It not so much a triangle, since the director makes it very clear from the beginning that Yu Wen Yue and Chu Qiao are the otp for the series.
While chu qiao has a relationship with yan xun, its portayed to come across more about loyalty and friendship on her part, and a one sided love on his.
Great hair debate #2.
From the teasers for 43&44 I've to say Yan Xun new style is my favorite out of all the characters. Is It just me or is similar to the one he started with? They just made the hair fuller/longer, lowered the ponytail, and added a touch gold to give him a more mature look.
hey since i love this drama i would love if u guys watched something similar to this .. i m talking about such…
Vigilantes is one of my fav series for a quick laugh, the production is heavily stylize to resemble comics, but its worth watching to see Wallace Huo be foppish dandy in the cricket story.
General and I, has a really weak story compared to PA and like Princess Weiyoung it borrowed the names of characters from the books more then story or plot, you have to skip around a bit, out of the +60 eps I think #'s 1, 3, 13-17, 23-31, 53-62, are the only ones worth watching and sums up the entire story.
I had a hard time getting past the first 2 eps of Rookie Agent too, I think I tried 5 times before I made it to ep 3, and the story didn't pickup in pace until ep 13, for re-watching value I start at 16 and end about 25 minutes into ep 45.
Yan Xun and 8th princess will be leads for an upcoming drama Looks interesting. Raw trailer https://youtu.be/ekQchZNRBt0
Maybe this is where Yan Xun and Chun'er reincarnated to after their PA lifetimes, so now they're working out all the stuff they left unfinished which seems to be mostly her anger towards him.

For a classic 90's period historic drama there's Heroine of the Yang with Amy Chan (ATV 1998). The Yang Clan stories in general tend to highlight the women of the clan more then the men, as the women take up the war banner in place of their husbands after they die on the battle field.
For a modern ghost story I liked season 1&2 of My Date with a Vampire with Joey Meng, (ATV 1998). (Season 3 sucked so I never recommend it). Joey's character is similar to Chu Qiao, very sassy and constantly insults the male lead, and able to take down her enemies with combination of fighting skills and ghostbusting magic.
General and I with Angelbaby, has a similar plot, characters, and love triangle. But the storytelling and acting isn't as strong as PA..
If you want Zhao Li Ying where she playing a strong lead there's Rookie Agent Rouge it's a 1940's war drama (you have to gloss over the propaganda bits, but still a fairly entertaining watch).
ETA: The Vigilantes in Masks with Lui Shi Shi in the role of master thief Yan Sanniang., I almost forgot about this one, it's a fun and fast paced Wuxia series.
Omg... there's rumors that Zhao Liying won't film season 2, and Angelababy will replace her as Chu Qiao...
When I first heard the news they only film 2/3 to the novel, I figure it was due to the length plus the legal case about plagiarism so the studio had to cut out some of the lesser storylines and stolen material not that they only film the first half of the novel.
But I don't know with this quote, which is making me wish I tried harder to learn Cantonese at least as a child, if this series is 58/68 eps that means we're past the halfway mark and they're still only at the first part of novel 2 (story and timeline-wise), which means they need to fit in at least 3 important battles/wars in the remaining 30 eps, plus the thing that leads Chu Qiao to breaking it off with Yan Xun, unless the missing volume is number 2 and they're heading straight into war soon.
XIAO CE LMAOOOOO THIS BOY IS NUTS but hilarious love him hahaha Deng Lun plays him really well; I'm super…
His maids don't lose out to him by much either. I was valiantly trying to hold back my giggles while watching the flower petal and sweet water dance they did before he appeared in the doorway.

I feel like dropping the series now, or at least put it on hold until it finishes airing and I know if they're only doing the first half of the story or not.
Ummm so I am watching this and I am very very confused. Who is she suppose to end up with?
This series has a male harem theme, where there are multiple males who like the same girl and actively pursue her.
The two main male love interests are Yu Wen Yue and Yan Xun. She suppose to end up with Yu Wen Yue in the novel, but we waiting to see if that happens in the series as well.
The rest involves supporting characters and their sub stories, and Princess Yuan Chun is also a lead character and the summary doesn't mention her at all.
