If they follow the novel in that respect she has a relationship with YX, you see the beginning moments of it when they start to bond in the dungeon in the series, this is the point in the novel CQ starts to soften towards YX too.

If you can look past the continuity issues General and I is a nice series that has a similar concept of lovers being separated and then teaming up later to fight against a cruel militant ruler.

But having him died towards to end after CQ and YWY find each other again and the conflict was coming to a end was pointless. The story at that point was mostly about waiting anyway.

It might not mean that of the first 2/3 of the novel got film, just that they only kept about 2/3 of the novel's story line and cut out some of the lesser sub stories, plus with the lawsuit regarding plagiarism I think they also cut out some of the stuff involving that too.

Nothing happens with the time travel plot in the novel, most books don't really do anything with them anyway. It's just a way to give the character a certain skill set that they wouldn't otherwise have without being time travelers form mod times int he first place.

For this novel it gave Chu Qiao the ability to conduct espionage and serve in the military, at a time when women weren't viewed to have the ability to do so. When she does reference something about her life before in mod times, it was mostly customs like the meaning of wearing a ring on your left ring finger and singing 'You are My Sunshine' in english, it was explained away as something from her hometown.

I think at this point I might have to watch Dragon Pearl from the beginning again, I stopped at 48 and now its at 84, 4th of July is coming up I'll just binge it then.

They haven't followed the book exactly, but they've done a very good job in adapting key moments and events for the series. The dungeon bonding moments and the presentation of the gold boxes was better then how the book had it. The book made it kinda to boring and routine, but Dou Shawn made it memorable. After that kind of heartbreak and pain, you may know that he turns into a cruel bastard, but you'll still cheer him on as he sets out to destroy the people responsible for his pain.

If he the same guy I'm thinking of, the one that left behind a newborn for Chu Qiao to care for, then that wasn't a death I care for either.

This is where re-reading the novel helps make the 3 days bearable, i skimmed though it mostly the first time because I found all the scheming to be boring, now i'm trying to figure out who is who in the series and what they're up too, since i read a translation that has different names for everyone and everything its' harder to pin down what to expect next.

Because we need 3 days to do other things like shower, walk the dog, re-read the novel, and catch up on the other series we've put on hold while obsessing over the release of this one.

I haven't watch the new eps for Legend of Dragon Pearl and Ode to Joy 2 since this started airing, and now I'm way behind on the story for both.

I knew going in how Yan Xun would end up, but still he got a lot of sadness coming his way this week.

I actually want more of CQ and YX, if she's going to go with YX they need to spend more time together. As of ep 20 he's been demoted to being the rebound guy, or worst a babysitter she wants to entrust her sisters too.

I saw bits of what could be the last arc in the closing scenes, so I think that part made it into the series, fingers crossed. I doubt they'll keep Chu Qiao yelling 'Yu Wen Yue is a Bastard' when he asks her to sing part unless that's what the parrot is for.

Now watch as I begin to queue up all 24 eps to rewatch this weekend, there's a reason people wait until the whole series airs before starting it. The only good part is I can watch a vietnamese version where there's someone reading out the subs so I can enjoy the rest of the screen, without worrying about missing a line.

Good I hope they go with 10 a week, I wasn't looking forward to July when I read they would be cutting back the airing schedule.to 6 a week, 8 is barely enough to keeping me going over the weekend as is.

The Shopkeeper is my new favorite male in the series. Every time he and Chu Qiao conduct a deal it's like she the cat Yan Xun calls her and he one of the little guinea pigs.

From the teasers he's appeared in I thought the writers decided to give him another love interest instead.
