MY LOVELY FEATURE MEMBERS OF MY DREAREST CULT! aka everyone who is undecided if they should watch it.

What are you doing if you are not watching My Dearest when it's gonna be the best drama of 2023?

First of all to all the bishes who enjoy romance - this has THE romance. The scenes are shot is such a perfect way, that even when the mains are not sharing the screen, it's enough to have them think of each other, or look at the moon with knowing tiny smile to create butterflies in my stomach. Since the characters themselves are rather complex, their interactions are that much more interesting.

Gil Chae is exactly what I want to see in a strong female lead. She ain't no wonder woman with ridiculous fighting scenes that no woman in that era could possess. But she has wits, she has brain and she is brave - all that makes her true survivor and protector.

Namkoong Min delivers such an amazing performance as Jang Hyun! Easily his best role in his career. I enjoy his flrity, silly, confident, arrogant, strong, desperate, sad, painful scenes. I enjoy every second this man is on screen.

Then we have Yeon Jun and Eun Ae who represent the idealistic stereotype. And with them we see what would truly happen to all them cute fluffy leads in so many historical dramas if they tried to be more realistic. And it's hard, and it's scary, and I love it, because it hits you and makes you think.

And that';s when we go to the directing AND AL THEM AMAZING CONTRASTS kept in the "show don't tell" approach.

The production? Everything one would want from more realistic historical drama. Female lead ain't no white flower with red lips after all the bad things happening. She looks like a real woman with imperfections, blemishes. And so do other characters. The way they look truly reflects the situations they are in. You won't laugh about how no matter the occasion women have perfect hair and beautiful make up on, that they don't take off even for sleep. What else I love about the production? The fact Ahn Eun Jin actually sings the ost. When you hear the vocal of the character singing the song, it just creates a whole next level of emotional response, because the song becomes a representation of their own feelings and thoughts. It's not just an accompaniment for the scene, it's part of who the character is.

I do not believe in writing reviews for on going shows 😅 but i do review everything i watch, so this one will get a proper review too, after i finish watching pt 1.

as they said it in red white and royal blue: he is lovesick homosexual 😂
but yeah, i think they left enough obvious hints for us to agree that he is in fact in love with him.

i'm just going to rewatch pt 1 over and over again 🤡

after episodes 3-4 I was like: if they keep it up this gonna be my fav from 2023
after episode 5-6: if they keep it up this gonna be my ultimate fav

Truly are truly acing all the difference scenes showing all the contrasts of ideals and reality, moralities, empathy and brutality etc.

One of my favorite scenes from this episode was how delusional the king was when he thought he did some good deed for telling them to not serve him chicken, while one of the people keeping a watch to keep him safe literally froze to death. It was like a minute ling scene but it had such a great impact.

Khan might be brutal towards his enemies, but he is far more loyal his people than Joseon king. He showed up to the war, he stayed even tho there is a plague of smallpox, we also know that the families the warriors that die will be taken care of.

Let me quote my favorite line I wrote in that long comment:

i am no invested.
i just casually sold my soul and all my brain cells and devoted my life to promoting this show and making as many of my friends to watch it as I can. I also told them to lie to me if they don't like it 🙃 I don't think I can handle any criticism for this one.

my "review" is just me slowly using more caps and jshdgfdshjvbdskvbdfs as I get more and more overwhelmed by the emotions 🤡

I hate to break it to you but chanting "We must defeat them" is not a plan < 🤡 the level of frustration during this episode 🙃

Them dropping the title when Ryang Eum is saying he would not mind dying if it's together with Jang Hyun is the type of confirming character is gay I like. Like... you cannot deny it. Ain't nothing mentee-mentor or older-younger sibling about how Ryang Eum feels about Jang Hyun.

yo the way the general figured out who has the stronger attachment and is "weaker" of the two, to then use that information to torture the "stronger" one which would basically be a psychological torture for the "weaker" one so he would give the information faster. SMART! Also, do we need more confirmation Ryang Eum is in love when he risked his life to basically safe Jang Hyun's face 🤡🤡

I'm assuming a lot of what Ryang Eum said was true. Which is smart. If you really want to create a good lie, mix it with truth.

THIS SHOW IS SO BRUTAL AND I LOVE IT COZ IT'S A FUCKING WAR, IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE BRUTAL!

The sentiment of "it's better to kill yourself than betting captured" is not stupid nor wrong. You will die anyway, the question is - how much will you suffer before you die. It also makes sense that depending on your social status you view the chances of surviving higher or lower. A servant would most likely see the worst scenerio - getting used and killed with no chances of getting out. A noble laby would have hope for surviving and rescue. A noble lady who was sheltered and protected her who life, I don't think she can even truly understand and image the worst case sceneriom because she never had to truly consider hardships. It's not about Gil Chae btw, it's an overall thought I have.

Gotta love how the ministers being safe in the fucking island make all the decisions of protecting the crown prince and the pride of royal family coz it's more important than all the lives of all the people in the country. I always wonder... do they not think about the fact if everyone gets killed their royal title does not mean shit coz they literally have no one to rule over?

The king and the crown prince are such a pussies 🤡 crying because their situation sucks, while people are being tortured, raped and killed outside of their safe place 🙃

I'm kind of slightly siding with the Khan here "The king is not even joining the war, and how can they still be truly devoted to him?". Like... up till now the king did not show any reason for the subject to want to save him 😂 Even if Joseon wins, if it was me, I would kill the king and crown prince right away coz they suck and they need some better ruler ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I know I am simplifying here, but holy fuck the royal family represents only cowardness and baseless pride.

CAN THIS SHOW GET ANY FUCKING BETTER? The way the contracted the king ordering the dude not to serve him any more chicken, coz they must have used all the chicken for him to eat, while we also see one of the subject literally freeze to death. The complete fucking ignorance of the king and him being 100% unaware of the fucking situation his subjects are in.

I think one of the reasons she acts this was is the fact she does not want to be vulnerable emotionally with a man she thinks is not serious about his own and her feelings. Which is also great writing and good internal conflict

I AM LOVING IT. Every freaking frame of this show is amazing.

i took me 2 hours to watch episode 5 because i kept rewatching scenes and kept pausing coz of the feels

i will watch the episode tomorrow. I cannot handle more feels before bed, coz I won't be able to fall asleep 🤡

i know right! THE ACTING IS SO AMAZING 😭😭😭😭
and mix amazing acting with characters that are beautifully written and you get perfection

i am getting exhausted with how amazing this show is.

the scene where he was teasing her about calling him "dear husband" being so amazingly playful, but then he picked up the knife she left and saw she did nit fact have to use it and the worry on his face that just crushed my heart. Especially since he gave it to her with the idea to use if it a man will try to SA her. and then when he told her he is proud of her for using it 😭😭 or when he was disappointed and sad when she said she only called him "dear husband" because she confused him with YJ 😭😭

Also... the sadness on JH's face when he truly saw how YJ is completely brainwashed by the social expectations and standards. Honestly, the whole small speech YJ gave was just heartbreaking. How much he was lying to himself. It felt like that lie that king will protect the people at the end was the only reason he was able to deal with the situation in the first place.

The way he looks at GC taking care of YJ because of his injury, while they give a slow close up to the blood dropping from his arm, because he is also injured 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELS! when he lost his cool coz he felt jealous and they had shouting competition tho 😂 and then back to pain with how her words hurt him (and me) soooooooooooooooo deeply...
