I kind of dislike this idea. Coz I feel like the whole deal of Gil Chae was having this one epic love for the rest of her life, so her marrying someone else when her true love will always be Jang Hyun just does not seem right with how her character was written tbh...

So, I read xinya's post on feeds about episode 7 when i woke up and I kind of agree about the kissing. Like... the scene would be perfect if it ended on him pulling away with a smile before the kiss, but also it would make no sense for him not to kiss especially since it's high time for him to act more serious about his feelings in front of her (since up till now all the serious happened when she wasn't looking). Dude might not see her for god knows how long (what he thinks), so the kiss makes sense. Not to mention if he ended it up on pulling away, from Gil Chae's side it would seem yet again as a silly teasing to see her reaction rather than a true confession.

Do I want Jang Hyun to be all happy? Yes.
Do I think that angst fits him well? Also yes 🤡

Basically when she is serious, he is not. When he is serious she already took 2 step back, and is guarding herself. Jang Hyun I love you but I am so not on your side here. When she said everything Jang Hyun says is a joke, so how can she give her heart to him, and he like "bitch what, maybe you want to believe that, but it ain't true" and I'm like "bitch you suck at expressing sincerity lol You saying true things in a joking manner, obvious she is going to see it as a joke" 🙃

The only reason Yeon Jun is the goal here is the fact he is a serious dude who does not change. He is stable... so his love would be also stable. While Jang Hyun is ever changing depending on the situation. He adapts well, he is unpredictable... which makes it hard for her to believe his feelings and see their future together. oof. Eun Ae.... nooooooooooooooooo. I thought you hesitated coz you know the truth how shitty he is, but you hesitated because you were attacked? Girl... GIRL! But then guys, GUYS! This is what I mean when I say Yeon Jun and Eun Ae are the result of social brain washing and they are both pitiful in that regard. They got drilled into their brains how they should act, behave, think, feel, what's expected from them. It does not matter Yeon Jun does not know how to fight, it's his responsibility to protect the king, even tho it's realistically impossible for him to do. It does not matter it's not Eun Ae's fault she was attacked, it's her responsibility as a woman to protect her chastity. They are both asked to do impossible and they feel trapped when they cannot achieve it. Yeon Jun got lucky since he was saved by Jang Hyun, so at the end he was able to protect his moral standing, ego etc... because while he himself technically did not do much, he also technically did not fail. He does not have to deal with the internal conflict, like Eun Ae does right now.


THIS IS WHAT I MEAN! Eun Ae saying "If you show your skin to a man, it means you have failed to preserve your chastity" when Gil Chae in episode 1 was like: let me show them some ankle to make them go wild for me 😂 It's obvious one was raised with more freedom than the other. It's obvious one had more restrictions put on her. It's obvious one is a victim of the restrictive social standards and rules, while the other was able to avoid them. I think that's why I like Eun Ae so much, coz I just feel so bad for her. She is mature and good person, I just want to see her be more free.

The best relationship in the drama being between Gil Chae and Eun Ae and I love it 😭😭😭😭

Anyway they make it more and more clear Yeon Jun is the dude in the mental hospital from the opening, and i kind of want them to pull a fucking twist of a century and make it someone else 👍🏻😂😂😂

Again, you can be outcast because people are not caring about your suffering and being treated badly, they did not need to make so many characters bully her. When they make so many characters awful, it makes it hard for me to even want to watch it.

I know right, people are annoyed at Gil Chae, when it's Jang Hyun who keeps taking steps back every time she takes a step forward. He is the one that turns everything into flirting, jokes, teasing, when things get serious between them. How a woman who dreams of marrying a stable in his feelings guy could be so easily accepting of Jang Hyun? 🤡

she saw it as a challenge on how to win him over < I think rather than challenge, she saw it as a confirmation that his feelings do not change easily so if he loves someone, he will not look for other women to flirt with. And that's what she said she wants - to grow old with the person she loves and that loves her. A really simple, romantic life.

She can be a pushover with making majority if people neutral and not complete assholes. They could easily make only her superior truly against her, and others just following what he does to not get on his bad side, but it's not that.

Him saving her once (for her knowing) could literally add to the flaws she see in him. Yeon Jun who cannot fight went to war to still try to protect the country, while Jang Hyun who is a great fighter sometimes helps, sometimes leaves - he is not a stable person in her eyes. Not to mention, just saving her does not mean he does not present as a playboy in romantic setting. He never denies any rumors, he plays along with them, he flirts and teases every time the conversation turns serious.

i know right. I think him being like: she apologized, have you never made any mistake. was the moment i was the most annoyed, because you just don't say shit like that if you not only don;'t know the full story, you know exactly NOTHING about what happened.

I think he is 100% brained washed by what he was taught and how people treated him, he is incapable of turning down the responsibilities that were put into his head - aka saving the king, going to war even if chances of surviving as -100%. I think he also feels trapped in that image, but he just cannot escape it. For me it was obvious during his scene with Jang Hyun when they were talking after the first "battle".

Still, one can be stupid, irresponsible, driven by misguided ideas and still his action can be brave if we do not expand the definition of the word. At the end of the day he did what he felt was right despite the fear. It fits the definition of the word brave. One can be stupid and brave at the same time.

I have one honestly question after first two episodes:
why so many trash characters? I gets few here and there. Hell, even half. But like 80% of them being awful? That's excessive 😂

Her whole team need a massive slap on their faces, especially Son Sae Byeol. Not liking your co-workers is fine, but at least acting fucking professional.

Yoon Na Yeon being all "well, I apologized so it should be fine" attitude was annoying, it's up to the person who was hurt to accept. So fuck off.

seeing how her servant was worried about her never finding a proper match and getting older, I'd say she is probably in the older range of a typical married age which would be around max 20. Noble women had the luxury to marry not as young as others.

She's probably around 18-20. Since the commoners usually married younger as far as I know, while noble class a bit later. The expectation would be royal family, they went with teens probably.

But it does not matter if she is 15 or 20, she has exactly ZERO experience in anything physically related to romance anyway 🤡
