today's episode was honestly crazy in terms of screen time. It was literally like an episode of a drama where 3/4th of it focuses on the main character, and the rest is split among 7 other characters...

As much as I enjoyed JY at first, she is frustrating me a lot in the past few episodes. I find it kind of sad that only now she truly decided to give the guys chance and not be this closed off. Because this late in the show it only benefits her and I just feel bad for the guys. I think she simply does not know herself that well and is easily influenced by the situations she is in. Now that her "relationship" with Min Gyu is extremely complicated, out of a blue she starts to have feelings for Gyeo Re who is a safe and comfortable pick. If you show her dates with all the dudes to random people, no matter whose date someone will watch, they would say JY has feelings for that person. At first I thought - ah, she is good listener, really attentive, guys find that attractive. But she also does little things like putting her hand of guys knee, that go beyond her just being nice person who tries to make people around her comfortable. And you know what's the worst? I don't think she is aware of it. I honestly do not think she has a malicious intent, but the end result is what it is - all the guys are confused and cannot move on, because she kind of does not let them move on...

there's a saying, "if you don't have a plot add a stalker" and guess what, they did < omg yes hahaha they just added so much side bullshit, it was actually hard to watch the show at some point.

I'm losing interest coz I feel like they packed too much into this drama. We have FL and her toxic relationship with her mother, her supernatural power of questionable origin, ML and his traumatic past, his weird relationship with his mother, the stalker psycho idol, kind of shady CEO, asshole brother of ceo who gets money from ml, SML and his traumatic past and his relationship with FL, also rival producer and shit shit. And they even waste time on FL's mother's side rendezvous? If they won't chill a little bit with number of plots, they won't be able to develop shit...

This drama will not have the same level of viewership or extremely high rating simply because it's not written to attract a wide range of viewers. It has a specific tone, specific setting and it fits some but not all tastes. Historical shows like that do not have "something for everyone" to enjoy. For example, the fun, entertaining and silly rom-coms are often made in a way that a wide range of viewers can enjoy certain aspects of - hence we have like 2-3 side couples, strong comedy, but also melodrama, romance and now often even a mystery or a crime in the background - so no matter who starts watching, they will find something to like. They are more digestible and easy to view. And My Dearest is not that, so it will fit less people's tastes. Sadly...

Honestly, silly wattpad fanfic vibe this drama has is what I'm enjoying about it 😂

oh i feel you, it's extremely frustrating to watch. The fact it was more important to protect your virginity than your life for us in modern times just sounds like a really bad really dark joke.

i think it also depends on when they will all reunite. Coz chances are, by the time she meets YJ again, she will already move on and accept her feelings for Jang Hyun so there is a chance there will be no real love triangle but rather a couple and one dude in unrequited love 🤡

Exactly. Truth to be told, with how GC is acting (which is completely normal in out times) she would face even worse treatment in real life. Here the girls sometimes talk behind her back, but that's it. When chances are in real life her "chastity" would be questioned and she would have issues with marrying anyone, not to mention the guy she likes 🤡

yeah but her rejecting would go against how her character was written. They made it clear she liked him for ages and went through a lot of schemes to make him like her back (I'd say girl was semi-obsessed 😂). With her not yet accepting her feelings towards ML, if YJ confesses soon, it would confuse her.

Same. I honestly don't think it's needed, but at the same time they are setting it up hard, so if all the set up not lead to anything, this will go as a flaw in the writing for me 🙃 so there is no winning hahaha

They had some truth to it in terms of that times. After being raped the best case scenerio the girls would be completely socially secluded (if they are of higher status), worst - the family would sell them as slaves or prostitutes for brothel. It was not the time where a woman could climb the social ladder through her hard work and wits. No one cared.

As for what Do hee said, there was no real concept of self-defense for women back in that time period... Men were the ones fighting, not women. The old ladies could not teach something they did not know themselves. It's easy to judge what they said in modern times, but it's honestly hard to even grasp their point of view based on the resources they had and social rules. Things that are obvious for us and things we can use where simply not a thing back then.

I have hopes it might. The screenwriter made it happen with Rebel the thief who stole the people, maybe she will make it happen here too

I FUCKING CANNOT THIS SHOW IS SO GOOD SOMEONE PUNCH ME IN THE FACE SO I KNOW I'M NOT DREAMING!
I already know this gonna be my favorite Namkoong Min's role.

What I loved in the past two episodes is how they truly describe and partially show the horrors of the war that normal people face. In most dramas they just show armies fighting, and if a village is attacked, everyone is just killed. But here seeing all the men getting killed while all the women being captured and dragged away was just horrifying.

I was all excited by how flirty and smooth Lee Jang Hyun was, but to be honest, the scene that impressed me the most in episode 3 was when the army gathered and they had this whole ass patriotic talk about saving the country and when everyone was hyping each other up, the dude standing in front of the young master Nam Yeon Jun gets shot in the neck and the blood splashes on Yeon Jun's face and we get closeup of his shocked face. PERFECTION! The reality hitting him after being all patriotic "ready" to die for the country, when he truly had no idea what war means and had never thought about dying. The terror on his face when they were attacked. That scene was truly perfectly set up and perfectly delivered.

I knew that all the happy and silly scenes in episode 1 and 2 were there as a set up for the pain to come. Without them, many scenes would have far less impact. It was important to see them being carefree and happy, to truly understand and feel the terror they felt after fighting and being attacked, injured and seeing others die.

I guess after Jang Hyun, Gil Chae and Yeon Jun meet again we will start the love triangle? At least to some extend. Because then the whole "friend dying and telling Yeon Jun that he likes Gil Chae" scene would be pointless.

Also, when Ryang Eum's lied about who Gil Chae was looking at I was like: you might be a child but I really want to slap you 🤡

don't know how strong their feelings can truly be after just a few days and knowing each other for a month, but for sure MG likes JY the most out of all the girls, and JY likes MG the most out of all the guys.

I don;t think he meant romantic type of dates and I am sure Jumi also does not feel like it. He was really clear about wanting to go on dates with her to give back the favors towards Jumi. It was never - I want to go on dates because I like you and get to know you. It was more of - I want to meet up with you because you are a good person who helped me a lot and I want to give back some of that positive energy. That's why Jumi was not exactly happy when he said it, because the reasoning behind the dates was not what she wanted. Not to mention she already invited JW for a date and literally only GR and JY were left.

I had far more issue with him saying he wants to go on dates with Jumi, rather than him going on a date with JY now.

I felt sorry for her and min gyu both, but with newest episode... I don't They are literally creating their own problems, and my issue is they are hurting everyone else in the process.
