Logically speaking, the companies would send their best trainees to shows like that. So the idea THEIR BEST are worried about not being able to debut unless they get in top9 is just the biggest clownery on the planet. I feel like there are so many companies created by people who know fucking nothing about running a bossiness, marketing, management, so then we get issues like that.
The issue is also the oversaturated market. When you have so many trainees, just being a good trainee and have solid lineup in the debut group is not enough to make it. Now trainees have to have already existing fanbase EVEN BEFORE THE FUCKING DEBUT. By now, being trainee is not really a training period where you learn the skill. It's already a job where you have to show the skills and market yourself, gain followers and fans. Shit like pre-debut releases. THE FUCKIN YOU MEAN PRE-DEBUT SINGLE. You put up a single online with a MV - THAT'S THE DEBUT in every realistic sense of the word.
Honestly speaking, the changes in the industry are both fascinating, but also scary. How PSY was planning to debut a fucking 12 years old and decided not to do that only because the public was against it. 12 YEARS OLD CHILD! Kpop industry is so wild and sad.
He was 3rd and 4th in Global votes for past 2 rounds, literally nothing changed. He gets 1st, because he is high in global and first (sometimes with a lot more votes) in kr votes
The only reason they "like" Hui is to have him produce songs. That's it. But as I said, he wants to BE on stage. not just produce songs behind the scenes. He is successful producer, he is not successful performer. No one talks about his performance skills, he is know for the songs he produces. 4minute was THE girl group. What Cube does? Disband. CLC was gaining more and more popularity with one hit after another, what Cube does? Disband. Beast was one of the most popular groups? What happened? The whole ass group left because of shitty management. I have exactly zero trust in Cube.
Hyuna was also the golden child of Cube with all the promotions, albums, sub-units etc 🙂 Until she was not.
I never said he is nobody, but he can as well be in terms of a performer if Cube decided to not renew their contract this year (which would literally not be the first time Cube not renewing a popular group's contract for no good reason).
He can only be successful soloist if Cube decide to debut him as soloist and put money into marketing. Which I doubt they would. If they wanted him solo, they would debut him soloist long time ago, instead of making him produce songs for their groups.
He can easily be popular and well respected producer, but he wants to be a performing artist, and that's not what he is known for. He wants to BE on stage, not just watch songs he produces being perform on stage by other idols.
I agree that he does not fit into a group with other trainees in the show, I don't want him to debut here either, BUT I just find it laughable how much faith and respect people have for CUBE when they proved for years they are one of the worst companies in terms of management.
I don't even want him to debut in Boy Planet simply because for me he does not match with other trainees that well, but he does fit the concept of the show overall. All seasons of mnet survival shows had popular idols in them, and each time they did debut with the show. It's not like Hui's situation is new and special.
I also don't know from where did the confidence come from that Hui for sure has Pantagon to come back to when their contracts end this year and up till now there is no info that Cube will renew it. I'm literally here preparing mentally for them to disband this year.
I won't be surprised if he is here coz Cube is not planning to renew their contracts this year.
Truth to be told, it's hard for me to even be mad about them trying to make sure Sung Han Bin ends up no1, coz even tho he is not my pick, I do want him to create that history and keep the no1 spot from beginning till the end ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Also, no way they will debut Zhang Hao, Yu Jin, Gyu Vin and Ricky - 4/9 guys from one company? Whenever it would be rigged or not, people would be sus about it and accuse them anyway.
👑 Sung Han Bin - obvious reason. Center position.
💖 Zhang Hao - obvious reason. Great presence on stage, softer presence off stage - would do good to counterbalance more hyped members.
🎤 Kim Tae Rae - Main vocal. We do not want a group that has passable vocals, but nothing standing out. Also, that smile is a killer. He also has one of the strongest fanbases in Korea so marketable af.
🌍 Keita - all-rounder and helps balance the group with his experience in the industry. Possible leader. Helps with Japanese market, but being fluent in Korean and part of the Korean entertainment industry for a long time makes him also marketable in Korea.
🖊️ Lee Jeong Hyeon - We need rappers. And he can write his own verses. He can hold a note so even with more melodic songs he would not fall behind.
💪🏻 Park Gun Wook - We need rappers pt.2. Not to mention strong stage presence. We also need a maknae with distinctive personality and presence and Gun Wook not being this cute young guy would play to his advantage, especially since he actually is adorable, even if he does not look the part at first.
🎤 Yoo Seung Eon - 2 solid main vocalist is a must. We need 2 vocals and 2 rappers, and the rest can be filled with all-rounders. But yeah, to get more diverse music and sound, we need people who can hit them more difficult notes.
😆 Park Han Bin - Personality wise we need one hype person to lift the mood. Was considering either him or Kum Jun Hyeon, but I simply think the "class clown" image Jun Hyeon has was just too strong (mnet fault) and I don't feel like I saw anything else from him off stage. On the other hand Han Bin would have a strong grip on the team during the practice, and every team needs someone who is both strict, but also encouraging.
🥰 Seok Matthew - aka the "fake" maknae. Yes, we need a cute member in the group. We need a member who can bright the room with just a smile - especially important in interviews and variety shows. He can also easily carry a lead vocal position, as long as no one asks him to belt ad-libs. Extremely marketable for the global audience.
