90% of the fights and drama did not happen, and for sure not in the way they were shown. Mnet can create a bloodbath from a conversation about favorite ice cream flavor. Too many people from other mnet shows talked about how some of the most viral fights were fake, and mnet just edited the footage from different moments to create a π© that never happened π€£
The resolution and the change of heart of the parents was ridiculous π€£ It would make much more sense if they tried to avoid taking responsibility, but the kid went against them and gave a statement as a witness.
They were doing a good job keeping the balance between realism and positive hopeful note, but this was a full on Disney stuff.
But damn you gonna make a choice at some point. Either stop seeing the kid, even as a "friend" (which would be my choice lol), or embrace your questionable, borderline illegal taste and go for it.
9 fucking episodes and we did not really move forward lol
I even forgot the fact they tried to go with that "moving out so I can pay for the mirror" plot. But the romance is overall going in a more unexpected way. I appreciate how it's not "enemies" to lovers, but she is understanding from the start.
It's both - case by case with each patient, but the cases will be the building blocks for the overall development of the characters, their relationships etc. While we will be also getting a bit of information here and there about the characters backgrounds.
Things like that kills any emotional impact I feel. When they do the musical scene the finale and everyone sings well... all the random volunteers know how to hold a note well. My brain goes - ah yes, this just Disney shit... And I stop feeling moved π€£
God bless this show for realistic reaction to accidental kiss. Everyone just giggled, went like "oops" and "this was cute" and no big over reaction etc.
I think it tells a lot about the person, how the perceive life when faced with a lot of death. Will they started to see it as meaningless thing, since we all gonna die anyway. Or will they cherish each day even more, because we can't live forever.
I NEED MORE OF THE VET FRIEND! Also that cute μ§κ΅¬/μΉκ΅¬ joke. Love it.
GIRL! YOU TRIED TO KILL HIM! WITH THE DOG! THERE IS NO GETTING BACK TOGETHER! NO CALLING BACK TO MEET HIM. THERE IS NO WAY TO SAVE THIS RELATIONSHIP π€‘
Dr. Yang obviously does not like Gyeo Re, we know. But dude also has some good points. While I don't think overall the dog is that much of an issue, it for sure not be allowed to run wherever he wants, even for its own good. Like the emergency situation - it might get hurt. And Gyeo Re should learn some basic first aid stuff, even if it's just volunteering so he won't go back to jail, that is the basic thing he can contribute with. He himself literally 30 seconds earlier said there is not much time left, but he barely did anything.
That said, this whole bullshit rivalry because of Yeon Joo is annoying.
I have to say, I like Dr. Yang the most. Everyone is a bit too nice and perfect for me. He seems the most refreshing π
About the money and gold mr. Kang has hidden - isn't it like future founds for the Genie Team after he dies?
I am honestly surprised how much I am enjoying this show.
I do agree on Empress Xuan and Consort Yue. I would not mind a whole drama focused on them.
They touched on a few issues, but nothing was truly THE focus of the ep, so it all just felt like a filler. I think they could have made Na Kang Nam potentially leaving a 2 episodes type of a deal, so it would overlap with the scouting offer Seok Ji Hyung got. It would make his role in that incident more complicated, as he would be part of the potential switching companies. It would make the conflict more interesting and even more big/important...
Poome issue kind of... started and went nowhere. How come Joon Young did not tell about it anyone in the webtoon team is beyond me. This is a serious issue.
I also kind of dislike how no one pays true attention to Shin Dae Ryuk's state. He is not just introverted guy, he has serious issues...
pt 1 felt more like a family drama, but they completely changed the tone in pt2 and the transition was just not done well...
What I liked about this 4th episode was the few scenes with the doctor. He does have a point in criticising Seo Yeon Joo. In her behavior she does put her volunteering job ahead of her duties as a nurse. Others are not part of the medical staff, they do not need to care nor worry about the clash of roles they have. With her tho, it is a different story. Sometimes what she is suppose to do as a nurse and what she is suppose to do as a volunteer is not the same.
In the previous situations, while he was against the granting wishes as a concept, he still allowed it, because it did not really affect the patient in a negative way. Whenever someone dies in a hospital bed or in their past house medically speaking makes no difference.
But with Se Hee it is different. They are asking him to administrate medication so she can push through the performance, potentially die. So they are asking him to assist her with potentially dying, to fulfill her wish. And as a doctor, I think it is something he should be able to not comply with. One could say it's similar to assisted suicide, but it's not. She does not want to die earlier because of her pain. She wants to perform and does not care if the consequence might be her death.
Another thing I like about this drama is how technically Kyeo Re is learning how to deal with death (be it with his dog being ill, his conversations with Yeon Joo, interactions with patients), but the truth is, he is learning how to live, how to care, feel emotions, make connections and relationships with people.
Overall, for now a solid drama.
As long as a show does not try to be more than trashy entertainment, does not try to pretend to be serious, touch serious topics - I'm gonne watch, laugh and enjoy it.
The issue I had with most Mame's stories in the past is the fact she tried to make more out them than just cheap entertainment. She unskillfully added some serious topics, which were grounding the shows more in reality. But at the same time she was not addressing the problematic toxic stuff in it. So it was sending mixed messages - on one had it's "just a drama that should not be taken seriously, so there is no issue with some toxic things", on the other hand it introduced issues that cannot be just taken as a fun simple entertainment.
So, as long as this show will keep to the "over the top, toxic romance" that can be entertaining, I'm fine. And yes, I have a double standard here. Attempted AS is obviously a serious topic too. I guess because the toxic dominant relationship is such a wildly used fantasy in media, and it's undeniable people enjoy watching it, it's hard for me to not see the levels of how it's shown and what I can accept and what is a complete red flag.
Like here, the scene in the bedroom - real life obviously awful. Drama wise? Did not mind it as much because of the "context" aka we knew what Rain was thinking, and Phayu did stop after like 2 kisses on the neck. If it went further, that would be a drop for me.
Personally I loved episode 7. They were able to close one side plot with Dong Hee, while also use it to develop On Ma Eum as a character. Dong Hee never felt like just a background for her, but he also did feel like a part of the overall plot. That's rather skilful presentation. Too many times side plots are completely separated from the main cast, or they feel like a filler with little content that serves the purpose to ONLY support the main cast.
I feel like it was rather painful episode. Especially when Dae Ryuk told Dong Hee how he liked his webtoon and understood the concept. I could not stop myself for thinking - what if he heard these words few days earlier. What if he got the analysis from Ma Eum few days earlier - would it change anything? At the same time they clearly showed that he does not regret his decision, that he feels liberated from his dream and ready to start new chapter of his life.
There is tho one complaint I have about the show - extremely dramatic previews. It's ridiculous. They made it look semi-makjang, but when the episode happens, most of the drama is resolved right away, or does not really cause that much issue. I know that most dramas use this tactic to make viewers check next episode, but they are doing it on a whole new level π€£
