Obviously we are not going to agree, and my initial reply was not to discuss whenever Tharn and Type are toxic or not. You 1st comment commented how you don;t understand how so many people have a problem with TharnType and all the reasoning you gave were either: you don't understand the plot or you have not even seen the whole show. I wanted to tell you that there are many people who have reasonable complains that are far more than just "not understanding the show or not watching it".
I think, at this point it would be best to just agree to disagree.

I see romanticizing rape and crazy ex girlfriend just as bad as romanticizing healing your mental problems by the power of love. He stopped having panic attacks in one day. The whole trauma might have gone for a longer but the most severe symptom he had, was gone the moment it was inconvenient for the plot. Since there would be none or far less kissing and explicit scenes if they wanted to make the mental health problems realistic, they just got rid off one of the symptoms all together. This is what it's called bad writing. You add and remove certain aspects of your character without giving any explanation and reasoning behind it.
Even if I ignore all the other stuff I disliked about the drama (and relationship between Tharn and Type was not the only ones, I had quite a lot of technical issues here too), just the way Lhong story was written and dealt with would not allow me to give this drama higher rating than maybe 5/10.

How is jealously the only reason one would? For me, how bad the drama dealt with the serious topics is enough to get involved and not feeling nice, when someone minimized my opinion as a rant of jealous fan of different show (when I don't even watch that many bl dramas in the 1st place) made me want to reply to the comment. Here is your explanation. I have no idea if jealousy is the only driving force in your life, but it's not in mine.

Why should I hold BL dramas on a lowers standard than any other show? We get such a ridiculous unrealistic plot lines exactly because no one complains. Why would writers put any effort into their works, when the stuff they do right now sells just right?
Even putting aside lack of mental health help (tho we know for a fact it is an option in the world the writers created, since Tar did see psychiatrist many times), the characters are fictional but the world is based on the reality we see around us. No one gets over their panic attacks in one day, especially since the trauma for Type was rooted in such a vile and traumatic event from the past. this is exactly my point: the writer took extremely strong and serious topic, did not care to research and used them just to make a romance more interesting and explicite scenes more hot. And I find it disrespectful and lazy.
While someone can enjoy the drama for it's romance and the chemistry of the characters, I appreciate when they also see the flaws it had (no drama is perfect). I talked with many people who rated it 10/10 but agreed with the criticisms most people had. Good for you if you can ignore it all, I cannot, and many other people can't too. We have a right to voice our views and opinions about it, and minimizing them as not important, just jealous haters or as someone who judges the show without even watching it, shows more of how much of an ignorant person you are, rather than the people criticizing the show.

I'm sorry but as a soon to be psychologist, the fact that neither Type nor Tharn got any professional help and were healed with power of love and good sex is exactly my problem. The fact that a guy who had someone gangraped is not in jail but instead gets a fluffy "hope you will be okay now" scene in an extra episode, is ridiculous, the fact that Type had panic attacks one day, and then without ANY reason and treatment they just go away, is ridiculous. The IDEA that two imperfect people can be together and work hard to make it work is amazing, the execution of that idea in Thartype is: ridiculously bad. Just because the idea behind something is nice, does not mean the end product it. The writers did 0 facts checking and research while incorporating such a heavy topics into the plotline, and I find it, you guessed it, ridiculous.

Well, I disliked the series a lot, watched it fully. To make sure I did not miss anything while writing the review I also rewatched some parts. I'm not jealous of anything since I truly could not care less what BL drama is the most popular. I found a lot of questionable things about this drama and writers truly did not care at all about many serious topics. That, I found disrespectful. It is true that their relationship is/was toxic. If I started watching the drama half way through I'd say they are kind of cute, if I only watched 1st half, I would say they both needs serious psychological help and stay away from each other for the rest of their lives. And that was one of my problems: the writers ditched all the serious topics the moment they were useless for the plot. There are planty of well written comments and reviews naming all the issues in Tharntype. All you have to do is read them if you are interested. If you are not, I find your comment quite pointless. Either you want to understand what people disliked in the show and have some, hopefully meaningful discussion, or you just want to vent your frustration.

For me it was not. With plot like that, when there is not really one leading plot line that has to be resolved, most endings would make sense.
I'm happy with the conclusion given to all the characters for sure :)

I feel like you are a bit unfair. From what we have seen in the drama, it is true he was more involved in raising the child than she was (except from that one hospital scene). We saw her come back home drunk more than once. We also saw he was usually the one who took care of the kid in the house after the school. I would also not say that being almost last in class is not a problem and that the kid is fine. No kid is fine if they don't get enough attention from their parents. If he is wrong for wanting to pursue his career, than so is she. Or none of them is, and they should somehow work it out like adults (and what they did at the end).
I mean, she herself notice that she did not spend enough time with her family because she was so focused on her job. She worked so hard to make sure other kids do good at school not knowing AT ALL how her own son is doing.
I believe their relationship was a nice portray of how marriages work in our times, when both parents need to work and yet somehow find time for the family.

was it sad? yes. Unrealistic: nope. Was it not the best decision for him: YES. But he is just a teenager. With his parents not even trying to reason with him, there was no way he would change his mind. I did not mind how they did deal with his situation. The most unrealistic drop out of school will forever be from SKY Caste lol

Truth to be told, back in the days not only female characters were rather shallow and one dimensional, it happened to all the characters. Male leads were as boring as they can get. I would just say that the quality of the writing changed A LOT through the years. All the characters are more complex and bring more to the table than the obvious stereotypes.

I like how annoyingly confident Choi Chang is and how ridiculously committed to her job Bo Mi is. I like these two.

Honestly, after 4 episodes, I only like the side characters hahaha

I have no idea why I liked it so much, but I did. Seo Jin Goo did amazing job, that's for sure

It's not about her character and her incompetence, it;s about the fact her set up is ridiculous. I have quite a few friends in residency and some who work as fellows in different specializations, they all either assist or do simple surgeries all the time. It would be impossible with her specialization for her to never do that. She could have an excuse once or twice but after that someone would react since she is simply a problem for the hospital (what if she fell asleep as she was performing medical treatment in OR? Or puke all over the cut open patient? That would be HUGE problem for the hospital.). So with how greedy and "safe" in their practice they are in Geodae Hospital, her getting so far in medical practice is simply not realistic. That's it. Her character does not make sense in the setting the writers created themselves.
They hate how risky Teacher Kim is, but have no problem risking reputation of Geodae by keeping a doctor like Eun Jae? That's my problem.They could have EASILY just introduce the problem later on in her practice. Show that in the past she did amazing job, then for example she "lost" the patient she was assisting in surgery for and blamed herself and that's why she has somatic symptoms based on psychological problems now.

Since they were not able to pick between her and the other teacher, they decided to not hire anyone. Ha neul is probably again hired as a temporary teacher.

She spent 5 years in medical school, at least 3 in residency (don't know how many exactly are there in Korea, but for sure not less) and is on 2nd year as a fellow. With her problem she would not be able to finish residency in the 1st place. This is the biggest problem. The setting for her is as unrealistic and not possible in real life, as it can be. If she was on her 1st or 2nd year of residency I could buy that. How is she in 2nd year of cardiac surgery as a fellow, when she clearly never assisted in any surgery from what they showed in the drama? And I am sorry but I don't see how her problems can be an excuse of her risking other people's life and well being. It's not a mistake, it's medical negligence. If they will not explain how she got so far in her medical practice without assisting in the surgery and doing one, it will be a drop in rating for me for sure.
Of course you can disagree, but I would love to see someone explain, how her setting is even possible.

It may help but I am curious how they will tell her it was a placebo, coz that might backfire. With some people their symptoms get more severe after finding out, coz they start to feel like people close to them were lying to them, and it only makes the anxiety stronger. Highly doubt they will go this way, but it's something that happens at times.

not a problem :) For me it's extremely good drama, 10/10 but from what you wrote, it's not exactly what you are looking for :)
