How is it bad that I spent actually time thinking over that review and trying to make it best represent my views? How is drafting it a bad thing? I could easily write short passive aggressive review like your comments and be done with it, but it brings NOTHING to the table and is not productive at all.
As for the values. I'd like to think that rape, emotional manipulation, mental health issues should be topics discussed and taken seriously no matter what cultural circle it happens in. It should be pointed out even more in the ones that do gloss over it. Cultural differences are amazing and enriching but some topics are matter of facts not opinions. Gang rape: bad. Mental health should be taken seriously? yes. Also putting whole western Europe in one bag is not a smart idea. I live in Poland, one of the most homophobic countries in Europe. We should not be out in the same box as more progressive countries in these aspects. There isn't really anything like Western European values, since all countries in Europe have their own set.
This is not how mental health works and how people with trauma react. You don't get cured with the power of love. As far as the show presented, Type didn't even know how bad his mental health is, so how could he want to get better when he was not aware how bad he was in the 1st place?
You don't forget your trauma before you deal with it. He was not doing that for the past years of his living, he will not get better with one small talk with Tharn. As I said, mental health does not work like that coz our brain does not work like that. Having someone who loves and support you is a great additional thing that will make it better and easier to work the problems out, but it's not enough to cure it completely.
I kind of feel the writer of the show has more or less the same level of knowledge of survivors of sexual assault, trauma and ptsd as you. You do not cure mental health issue only with "power of love" coz life is not Disney. It's not realistic and in my eyes disrespectful to both the real victims and people working in the mental health professions.
