That true. They introduced WAY too many issues and then did nothing with them πŸ™‚

Cravity did great with their performance. Loved the whole structure of it. It had proper opening and closure, great highlights solid dance part and vocals. Hope they will build up on it and improve with every performance. Easily my fav stage so far this season.

I am tired of awful parents too, but I can handle it if it's significant for the plot etc. But here everyone was just shitty parent and it was never truly addressed, developed nor the writers gave any closure...

Agree on the mother aspect. I was incredibly frustrated that the show ends without a single person acknowledging…
Yep, not one person actually acknowledged she was in fact neglected by her parents. It always felt like everyone thought she was wrong and at best they let her vent because they thought she was selfish or hurt because she thought her mother truly loved her and she just misunderstood...

I can’t say Hui Seong not getting prenatal testing is exactly solely from some moral/ethical point of view.…
Maybe I misunderstood it all, but I'm pretty sure she decided to never do DNA testing, even after the kid is born. And that I cannot be behind... even for a potential case of health issues the child might have, when they first contact family members to be potential donors, because there is a higher chance of match... or just the child finding out they might not be the biological child of their father and is asked being able to get a better answer than: we don't know Β―\_(ツ)_/Β― It's just irresponsible and selfish - they don't need it, and they don't think if the kid might need it at some point. Personally, I would rather know who my biological father is. Even if my all means I will treat the person who raised me as my father, I would still want to know.

i agree about supporting characters outshining the leads. I actually liked the individual story for FL with her trying to navigate her feelings towards her mother and her "siblings", but this was so underdeveloped with no proper closure, i just got tired of it at some point...

I was so scared I will get bored and that 1h 20 minutes is too long for the fluff. But I actually loved the episode 😭

The way they are scared of even normal interactions and questions, coz they are afraid to get caught πŸ˜‚ Dramatic music and slow-mo adds to it well πŸ‘πŸ»

The way they are digging their own grave every time they open up their mouths lol Here's the thing tho - 1h 20 min episode for a fluff era scares me. For me dramas should have uneven lengths of eps - when shit goes down make them longer, but when it's more chill, it's fine to keep it 60 minutes.

"If that happens, we'll have to have a very wholesome, innocent and nice relationship like little kids" 🀣 I mean I actually love that this is part of the discussion. Bishes are 30, they do not want an innocent kids like first relationship when the highlight is holding hands πŸ˜‚

"즐거움엔 끝이없닀" tVN 🀣🀣🀣 to have a make out session after this cinge line, I am impressed 🀑

Dan Ho, I love you, but just go get therapy 🀣

Okay the "bibimeudbap" PPL was actually solid. Good transitions. His girlfriend is taking the national cooking exam, and here he is eating instant food microwaved πŸ™‚

Bae Dong Jin is so useless as a person. Being 30 the "I didn't know" cannot be used as an excuse. This type of a mistake is fine when you are a teen, or just started your 20'. Fine, you have no idea about regulations, how to do business research or that you even have to do it. But fucking 30? You should know you need to google shit before putting money into it πŸ™‚

"I really wanted to do well this time" and that's why I did ZERO research on the product I was selling and went into it with ZERO plan on how to sell it, how to go about it, zero risk management etc 🀑

Okay but for real tho, Mi Suk and Geun Sik? Not the greatest parents. They kind of fucked over both of their kids. Unrealistically high expectations for the daughter made her overachiever that feels like she needs to deal with everything alone. Zero hopes and expectations for the son and protecting him from everything made him undisciplined and with zero real life skills so now even if he wants to do well, bitch has no idea how and does not have habits and personality to find out himself.

"I don't like you" FUCK BITCH DID NOT EVEN HESITATE AND DID NOT STUTTER πŸ˜‚ This is how you fake disliking someone and rejecting them even if you do have feelings for them. You don't cry and hesitate and barely say anything - no one would believe such a rejection 🀑 He is a pro.

SOMEONE GIVE MO EUM A HUG 😭

I love Hye Suk and Gyeong Jong so much! I am as invested in their romance as I am in any other in this show πŸ˜‚

"Not everyone can be special. Most people just live ordinary lives. And the same goes for me. So don't be too obsessed with becoming someone great. Just find what's valuable to you in your life. That's more than enough."

Okay... I honestly don't really like that Yeon Du is not his daughter. I loved the single father representation, and while it kind of still is a fact - he is Yeon Du's father, something just does not sit right for me with this development. It feels unnecessary as fuck.

The girls are not wrong tho. On one side she is overqualified by working for such a huge company to be hired in kitchen. On the other hand... she is underqualified by having no practical experience in cooking, she barely got the certificate. It will be hard for her to get a job...

"you researched a lot" ONE FUCKING STICKY NOTE HAHAHAHA OMG I AM DYING πŸ˜‚ Such a serious scene, but I cannot stop laughing coz he said she researched a lot with ONE FUCKING STICKY NOTE 🀑

Mo Eum drinking soju from the bottle with a straw - god bless her.

"I like to take Mo eum" HE SAOD OMGJHGDHJGDSG YOOOOOOOOONDSGDSGHFDS OMG DHJFGDHJGDS I AM NO READY! πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

You should probably compare this to the first road to kingdom. That is fairer comparison.
it's not like I can choose to forget Legendary War as I watch this season 🀑 Ain't no white truck of doom to give me amnesia 🀣. And that's why I said it set the bar too high... They created Legendary War and now everything that follows seems less impactful.

That said... Ateez was only 3 years after debut when they performed and yet their performances were extremely well directed and planned and cohesive as fuck.

JUST B, CRAVITY has been idols for a similar period of time and Oneus has been in business for 5 years < I think it's fair to expect more from these groups.

I think Kingdom: Legendary War might have set the bar too high πŸ™‚
I think one of the reason was the groups had established colors and they knew what they want to present, while teams in this season are still more or less searching and exploring and it shows.

Actually I'm quite disappointed by the story of ML's parents. If your marriage isn't good for like more than 20…
I don't think it's solved. I think they literally went back to a honeymoon/dating phase. And after that, the reality will hit them again, that they do have quite a lot of differences they need to talk about. Tho I doubt it will be shown 🀣

Title Love Next Door Spoiler
So, "quick" thoughts on all characters and their relationships after episode 12.

πŸ™‚ First of all Seung Hyo - consistent with his flaws, and I like it. He gets easily swayed by his emotions and has issues controlling himself when it happens. The way he made Seok Ryu's cancer about himself and how hurt he was, the way he made his parents and his mother's accident about himself and how hurt he was. He piles up all the emotions and then let them go in the most inappropriate moment 🀑🀣

A moment I loved from episode 12 - when he set a clear boundary with Seok Ryu in how he does not want to talk about his ex and describe how it was to date her. I like how he was firm about it without turning it against her. He could easily call her out in a bad way, but instead he was really firm about what he wants and does not want to do, instead of commenting on how she acts and how she is.

πŸ₯Ή Seok Ryu - my baby girl. Realistically speaking the plot will be moving away from her now. Focus more on ML and them together. But I loved all that I saw so far. I think she is such a perfect representation of how much damage to a person can parentification during the childhood do. I related to her story on a whole new level, I never related to any other character as much. Hope she will unleard her, honestly speaking pathological ways of always wanting to deal with issues herself.

🀣 Seung Hyo and Seok Ryu - holy fuck how awkward they can get now that they started to date! πŸ™ƒ I love it. But what I loved the most was the last scene, and I mean the conversation not the make out session (which was also great). I like how upfront they were about their current feelings. One feels distant and scared that maybe ML does not see her as a woman, but just as a friend, even after they started to date. One was so nervous after starting dating, after years of waiting and being in one sided crush, he does not know how to act. And to resolve it, all they needed was a chat πŸ™‚

πŸ₯° Mo Eum - here comes the perfect angel. I love her so much! I appreciate how she is able to balance being friends for both Seung Hyo and Seok Ryu, which is not easy. Being close friends with a couple is a fucking superpower. She kept Seung Hyo liking Seok Ryu to herself, she was able to navigate conflicting feelings Seok Ryu had about her jealousy in a way that made it obvious she is supportive of the friend, but also sees the flaws of her actions. Her way with Yeon Du is just SO FUCKING ADORABLE!

πŸ™‚ Dan Ho - all kids deserve dad like Dan Ho. Imagine how amazing the world would be if every father was like Dan Ho. That said, I love how they finally showed his flaw - he is overprotective of his child which strips her away from experiences she should have her age. I like how they are adding more depth to his relationship with his da ughter and to him as a character.

πŸ₯²Mo Eum and Dan Ho - fuck this shit, Dan Ho needs therapy coz he is obviously traumatized by his wife's death and did not deal with it in a healthy manner. If I had to guess, I'd say he does not want to start anything with Mo Eum and asked her to stay away from Yeon Du from now on, is because he wants to protect her from losing mother again. If he never starts, if Mo Eum does not become a mother figure for Yeon Du, there is no fear of losing her, they never had her in the first place 😭 But they are such a perfect little happy family! That camping was just pure happiness and rainbows and they fit together so well 😭 I need Dan Ho to get some therapeutic chat from Seung Hyo, the way Seung Hyo got from him.

🀣 Mi Suk and Geun Sik - the packing for the trip scene was EVERYTHING 🀣 This was such a perfect representation of a typical family. They should already be out, but they are still packing, the husband is all giggling happy, but has no idea where what is, and the wife is screaming at him coz damn dude get it together 🀣🀣 But you can also see love in that interaction. Glad to see them support Seok Ryu now. I like how they are still hesitant about her cooking and not fully on board, but also not fully against.

🀑 Hye Suk and Gyeong Jong - what a clownery 🀣 Good to know she does not have dementia. I think too much trauma can ruin drama, we had enough so far πŸ₯² I also knew she ic not cheating and the moment the "confrontation scene" happened, I knew the other dude was gay. He was so nonchalant about the whole situation because he knew there was exactly 0% there would be anything between him and Hye Suk. I love how after years of basically emotional separation, they are back to cute dating era 😭 I was so invested in this marriage!

πŸ™„ Dong Jin is such a useless character. He existed in the story just for Seok Ryu's sake tbh. To show how unfair she was treated as a child compared to her brother. But there is nothing interesting about his character as individual. Man child who is a huge liability.

😠 Na Yun, I was rooting for you to be a healthy fangirl with a crush, but how she rejected Seok Ryu's call was like - damn girl, such a pity bitch behavior. Get back in line please. Which is sad, coz she was doing so well so far...

Overall, I am happy we entered the fluff era. I'm all for it. I need them now to focus on Dan Ho and Mo Eum. We have the whole big deal of him dealing with the unresolved fears, Mo Eum and her conflict of picking between staying for Dan Ho and Yeon Du and leaving for her dream project/job. If Dan Ho accepted her feelings, it would be an obvious choice, but now that she was not only turned down, but literally had emotional door slammed on her face, she might reconsider, even for the sake of clearing her head and dealing her feelings.

Here we go again.
yeah but not everyone who voices frustration about any aspect of the drama is a troll and ignorant person. I literally added "family" as a genre for this drama on mdl so people will get it's not just a rom-com and it's not categorized as just a rom-com anywhere. This drama currently sits as 10/10 for me in my head and I'm loving it, does not change the fact some character piss me off with what they are doing, but that's is literally the beauty this show - it has well written and complex characters with real flaws that will piss viewers off if they hit the right nerve.

I wrote mostly rant post on feeds that had 1K + words after episode 10. I loved episode 10 🀣 I loved how annoyed and frustrated it made me, and how I had to pause every 3-5 minutes to write down all the thoughts I was having. Sometimes ranting about character comes from deeply connecting to the show and relating some aspects of it. You give emotional reaction, because the drama was good enough to even bring that emotional reaction out.
