- it seems they're shooting scenes out of the order so most of the hairstyles are wigs (except for the restaurant scene during the first week of shooting.)
- no videos since fans won't post them at the moment but there was a big scene where he had to cross a tall sort of metal bridge in the rain and he's scared of heights so he needed a bit of help/encouragement to climb it at first and was sort of huddled in a corner clutching the railing between takes, but as soon as the director said action he rushed up as if he wasn't afraid at all and did it dozens of times. his assistant was seen preparing cold medicine after.
- I can't find the weibo post anymore (crew might've requested that it be deleted) but they shot a big prison scene and his co-actor praised him for being very attentive of others because of the cold (it was raining again, no wonder he seems to be losing weight although he also mentioned during the Vogue event that he had to lose weight for the role.)
- a couple of extras said that he's very polite and cheerful on set and his lines are really good. extras are also well paid apparently and there are no complaints so far.

it's also iQiyi finally offering him these types of scripts. the other iQiyi drama he was rumored to be in contact with reportedly cast Pan Yueming and Hu Xianxu and I also just read that another award winning veteran actress is in the Bao Hu cast (🍉Liu Jia, possibly playing Feng He's mom) so it means he's really in the conversation for serious dramas now and his future isn't limited. Jiayou, Wang Xingyue!
I think Xiao Beming is a better pick for the nomination. He displayed more of his capabilities through this role.
for regional industry awards like this, it's highly dependent on the production company submitting their work for consideration. Yu Zheng has been active in submitting Huanyu's dramas for years (The Double was also nominated last year.) they're shooting the 90s timeline first (28 year old Feng He) and WXY seems to be wearing a wig for now (maybe it's easier to keep track of the hair length if he wears one since they have to shave his hair off for the future scenes)

- the title was renamed to "Bao Hu" (Violent/Fierce Tiger) - it's co-produced by iQiyi's Qizheng Studio, the same co-producer of The Wanted Detective so they must be happy with its performance - director Xing Jianjun (Under the Skin), co-director Ning Xiaobo (Always Warm), screenwriter Gao Han (The Hunter). Gong Yu, the head of iQiyi, is also listed as a producer - WXY is first billed(!!?) I suspected Yu Zheng would push for equal billing with Wang Qianyuan since its a double-male lead drama so this is really a surprise (barring the official announcement adding the equal billing disclaimers of course) - Cai Wenjing is a special/guest lead and award winning actress Ma Su rounds up the main cast. no news on who's playing the drug lord/main villain.

tbh most of them are platform awards (what fans would call participation trophies) but the wenrong best actor has a little prestige because Chen Kaige was the head juror. his rumored projects the past few months are leaning towards serious dramas so hopefully he has a chance at the bigger awards someday in the future.
