yes, they were suspected to be AI reviews and removed. not sure if the system does it regularly but there were a couple of days last month when scores for some dramas suddenly increased/decreased rapidly and cnetz eventually figured out that Douban was clearing out the bots.

🍉Project Updates:

The Wanted Detective - finished its broadcast period with 12M average/episode and it looks like the Douban score had settled at 6.6 (Douban has been cleaning AI reviews and removed a bunch of 4/5 and 1/2 reviews so the percentage of 3s has increased and that's why the overall score decreased)

Unveil: Jadewind - WXY said in an interview that he's finished dubbing and it should be either by the end of the year or early next year

there were makeup/costume tests on 26th and 28th but that's it. iQiyi didn't announce it during their investment conference so not sure when they will, maybe when they start shooting or the booting ceremony (Xu Ruohan's suspense drama with Yan Ni wasn't announced either and that started a few days ago.) studios will drop their monthly itineraries tomorrow so we'll see if they list a specific date or just a general "the rest of the time will be spent filming" disclaimer.

WXY was just announced as a spokesperson for Western Sichuan, his third official cultural related appointment by the government, congratulations! If anyone has Douyin, they'll be posting his travel/road diary in 2 parts on Sept 14 and 15 at 12nn and 2pm.

+ he's also in Beijing doing initial dubbing for Unveil: Jadewind today. and Violent Tiger Feng He quietly opened a weibo page so hopefully they'll announce it soon.

I remember the bombardment of mockery Britney Spears received in the news during her public breakdown. tiktok/twitter/reddit was disgusting during Amber Heard's trial and most people still think so much misinformation about her is truth. sure, there's a little more leeway on what is considered "virtue" but Brie Larson and Rachel Zegler are constantly attacked for not being "nice" about their opinions. Monica Lewinsky, Janet Jackson had their careers halted after being slut shamed. John Lennon, Selena, Christina Grimmie got murdered by insane parasocial fans....western media culture absolutely punishes celebs too. I think maybe because our view of c-ent is limited to mostly social media it just feels more amplified.

unfortunately it's down to 6.6 already because of an increase in 1 and 3 scores from around 5k voters (just to say that I don't think it's being mass-downvoted by haters, probably it was more of the fans that voted first and now it's a mixed group.)

I don't think western media culture is very different (anyone who's been in the trenches of a pop girl fandom would know) but yeah, with AI and photoshop/editing nowadays it's really hard to know what to believe. WXY has just been lucky so far because more evidence are on his side to disprove the rumors against him. like this bar video thing is getting crazier because apparently the video was taken by a stalker and she deliberately darkened it to make it look more suggestive (another video from a non-fan emerged and it was a well lit place, showing a more obvious gathering of friends and people from Yueyang are saying that even his dad was there.) the girl in the video had the original upload taken down but the stalker keeps reuploading/boosting it and implying that the friend is a bar girl flirting with WXY. yikes, maybe someone really wants to get sued.

they just want him to be unclean* and it's very easy to make snide comments on social media, most people won't check for the truth. not saying he's a paragon of virtue but so far he's only been doing what anyone in their 20s do.

*it's especially funny because douban practically worships leonardo dicaprio, but he's done a lot worse than some of the c-actors they hate lol

yeah, his haters have been trying to push an "oh he's always drunk in bars, picking up girls" agenda since last year. never mind that the only times he's been caught drunk is after work events like hi6 and celebration parties and that people post about bumping into him randomly around Hengdian/Hunan all the time. if there was any pattern of misbehavior there'd be more evidence already.

I mean I support him having a private life but these poor girls are getting dragged out just for standing next to him and being somewhat friendly, at least wait until there's actual video evidence and not malicious screenshots lol. I remember they also tried it with videos from people spotting him at concerts standing next to a girl, too bad it turned out to be his older sister.

the paps didn't even say anything, it was just haters spreading a blurry screenshot all over douban/weibo and ignoring the source video his fans were posting. I don't know why anyone would try to spread the rumor in i-spaces when it was such a non-scandal.

it's modern but set in the 1990-2000s, I put the plot and character descriptions a few comments back, just scroll down a bit. and Yu Zheng sort of confirmed it weeks ago but there just hasn't been an official announcement yet.

haha it does focus more on her than the ML and that's why the opinions are divided. and if you do end up shipping her with HRZ instead of ZXW, all you have to do is stop at episode 29 and that will work as an ending too.

oh I get the confusion. the ML in the drama is Zhong Xi Wu (based on the billing/posters.) this was a change from the novel where the ML is Hua Rong Zhou. HRZ is the 3rd ML in the drama and your mileage may vary on which couple you ship but viewers who shipped her with HRZ didn't like the ending. but I preferred ZXW so I didn't mind it and just thought the ending was rushed.

them getting together is only implied in the actual ending of the drama but there's a short animated epilogue you can track down somewhere which says they did get married eventually.

tbh I usually end up enjoying YZ dramas but shooting with the same team and people all the time will be stagnating for his development. he just has to get this one over and done with and then hopefully YZ won't make him do another internal drama for at least a year (or two.)

it already broke out last June and then got revived a couple of days ago because a usually accurate melon owner posted that she's the likely FL of XZW and then her agency's statement didn't release a strong denial (instead it was something like she's in contact with a lot of projects at the moment, with a neutral tone) + some 🍉s said they'll have equal ranking, so basically they see this as a step back for her career.

edit to add: another usually accurate melon owner said about a week ago that the FL was still Wang Yinglu so there's conflicting information all around.
