I wanted to come back here to say, this is probably the first drama in a MILLION years that I am not able to hold back the urge to rewatch scenes like right after the show ended... I usually try to hold back and not go back to rewatch stuff right away, even if I really like it, just cuz I want to savour it for future rewatch, and also cuz I need to cut myself from the drama so I don't fall in too hard. But my god this drama... literally been rewatching scenes every night for the past few days... fmlllll Think I'm gonna like end up rewatching the whole drama soon????
Basically kept (fake) crying (along with some real crying in touching scenes ofc) through this whole ep cuz I don't want it to end!!! FMLLL Major withdrawal!!! Soooo sweet and I love this OTP so much!! Kim Jae Wook is just too majorly hot I can't even.... Haven't fangirled in sooo long... this OTP definitely tops Secretary Kim!! Ughhhh I can't believe this is overrrr :'(((((( This drama is gonna ruin me for a while... why can't I have a Ryan Gold???? :'((((( I swear kdramas are half the reason why I have no bf... Ok fangirling aside, the overall story of this drama isn't really anything special... quite some cliches with second leads trying to meddle, fake dating, and lost childhood memories; at points I was just like this is totally just fanfic material.. But overall, it was honestly quite funny and had me laughing quite a lot. So it was very enjoyable! I know some people can't understand the maniac fangirl story but in reality, there really are lots of fans like that; I'm sure there are quite a lot of fangirls out there who can relate to the fangirling part of this story. I know there will be lots of people complaining about the high ratings and popularity of this drama, but people, you just gotta face the fact that more than half the kdrama fandom will fall for anything with eye candy and sweet romance/good chemistry. This drama definitely had all of that, so that's what makes it so enjoyable for many k-drama fans. At the end of the day, it's about how much fun and how enjoyable the drama was for you. If the drama makes the viewers giddy and happy even with overused plots and flaws, it will be a successful drama. So although like I said, the plot is just your average kdrama rom com, it's def a 10/10 for me because of the sweet chemistry, kisses, romance scenes (and KJW and PMY looking fine af :'D) I really loved the male lead's maturity, and the communication and maturity from BOTH leads in their relationship. Definitely can't forget the fact that Ryan supports Deok Mi's fangirlism 100%. SIGH!! #onlyinkdramaland... MAJOR WITHDRAWAL I CAN'T :( I need to go rewatch everything now :((((( CAN THESE TWO PLS DATE IN REAL LIFE?? They look sooo good together and perfect age difference like gahhhhhh PLSSSS????? Their chemistry was just too strong and fml Kim Jae Wook's smiles and looks at her like FFFFFFFMMLLLLLLL (fml fangirl is back i'm really too old for this but i can'tttttt)
P.S. I also wish Shi An could find out Deok Mi is his fave fan!! They should do a special epilogue for that :( AND DID I MENTION I HAVE NEWFOUND LOVE FOR KIM JAE WOOK???? Of course I did. But seriously, I'm soo happy this guy never gave up on his acting career and now he's getting lead roles and I'm sure rising popularity now after this!! Just really happy to see actors who have been in the industry for a while and getting recognition after soo many years.
Now I know why I always push back watching L dramas... I can't watch this drama properly without smiling super hard and making kissy faces at the screen, and then proceeding to laugh at myself, everytime I see my Myung Soo on the screen... HAHAHA doesn't help that his character is sooo sweeeet! FML I swear I'm usually not a crazy fan girl but I think this goes to show L is my ultimate biasssss <33333
Loved the couple, but still too draggy... And really couldn't stand watching Piak and Chayan's story. Absolutely annoying and a lot of screen time wasted on them. The misunderstandings dragged on for too long, so really thank god for the fast forward button. The OTP is super cute and look good together, but omg NOT ENOUGH SCENES!! And LACK of kiss scenes! WTF is with the last episode, no kiss scene at all omg :(
Really enjoyed this!! Loved the main couple and omg absolutely fell in love with Zi Cheng, the lawyer. Really…
Cuz seriously the asshole of a husband An De Sheng was played such a big part in this story, and it was just a pain the story of this affair get SO much screen time. Also, Ming Lu's mom was also super annoying and wtf for most of the episodes she was in. Thank god for the skip button. But regardless, I really liked the chemistry between the main couple and also Zi Cheng and Tian Hong. So it was a satisfying watch overall!
Really enjoyed this!! Loved the main couple and omg absolutely fell in love with Zi Cheng, the lawyer. Really liked this pairing with Tian Hong as well! His character was sooo cute and sweet yet subtle. A pity we couldn't see more of this pairing after they ended up together, but everything still wrapped up in a satisfying way. Honestly, this drama was never 100% set to have 60 episodes anyways, but I think they were having a lot of budget problems, so decided to end it at 41. But I am glad it wasn't an abrupt "cut", and they still wrapped up everything. Of course it was obvious they cut some scenes and sped up the progress, but I think the pacing was acceptable. I honestly don't really know what else they could've talked about for 20 episodes anyways... Might've just ended up being too draggy too, so maybe 40 episodes was a good number! BUT IDK if I would be able to watch this drama FULLY without skipping cuz... (see spoiler below)
agreed! I'm also mad about the end. At least record his voice for a final monologue/speech to conclude the series…
IKR! I don't think Lee Hyuk's character deserves any romance, but IDK if his character turned out too popular or something and the writers decided to shift focus onto him. Clearly the synopsis now needs to be edited cuz she didn't fall in love with Na Wang Shik at all >.> They just tried too hard to wash Lee Hyuk clean and gave him a cute puppy in love kind of story suddenly so that people can "forgive" his character. But you can't just suddenly try to "redeem" an insane character who felt like he could kill anyone anytime he wants, pulls out a gun whenever the heck he wants. The epilogue is so ridiculous and literally puts Lee Hyuk as male #1 and shoves Wang Shik out as a main lead completely. I love Shin Sung Rok, but his character was psycho.... It just makes no sense that Sunny still feels anything for him and would even want to date anyone that looks like him... Stop trying to sell the fact that Sunny and Lee Hyuk could've been a couple... Lee Hyuk's existence literally ruined her life -.- Stop trying to get the audience to forget about that!
Wow, they literally just wrote off Wang Shik just like that and no one actually gave a shit about him in the end. I understand CJH's filming schedule could not be controlled, but wtf not even flashbacks, NOTHING. UNBELIEVABLE. Instead they did flashbacks for the selfish, insane King and made it seem like he actually loved Sunny and made him all "romantic" in the last half of the show. But seriously, we all know he loved himself more than anyone... When the heck was the turning point of him suddenly go from hating her/wanting to kill her to liking her? Nothing STRONG enough happened for that to be realistic... He is clearly a bit insane, and any "love" (for both Queens and Yura) seemed like more of a desire of possession and attention. I just really don't like the fact that they completely shifted focus on to the King and him so-called falling in love with Sunny. The show tried to wash his dirt and just suddenly want us to think he's "not so evil" as before and deserves some pity". Like deliberately making him a lost puppy in love and all cute in some scenes. Also, it's also unrealistic that Sunny STILL feels anything romantically for someone who effing tried to KILL her and BETRAYED her multiple times... Like ??? how can she have flashbacks for this guy and NOT Wang Shik??? wtf?? I don't care if she had a crush on him for 10 years... that's a fcking idol crush NOT REAL LOVE... And I think the murder part 100% erases all of that anyways?? And that epilogue just makes me feel like the show is trying to make it seem like Sunny and Lee Hyuk was in some tragic love story where the two loved each other but because of all the royal drama, they could not be together. Like wtf no. He was insane, ruined her life and tried to murder her; we don't need this forced romance shoved in front of us. But anyhow, that aside, it was a good ride still, although the last maybe 6-8 episodes got pretty boring. I do love the actors, and Shin Sung Rok was great in his role. I really liked the chemistry between him and Lee Elliya in the beginning too! But yeah again, honestly his character doesn't deserve to end up with anyone.
Only on Ep 20, but came here to say this drama has successfully created the most annoying child character on Earth... my god.. the Princess is seriously the brattiest thing I've ever seen. And waay too fake.... I know that's how she's supposed to be but still absolutely annoying. None of the characters get on my nerves as much as she does so far.
I'm so confused about the ending lol, the drama was enjoyable tho and the couple was just adorable
It's actually not confusing, they just MADE IT SEEM confusing cuz it was so poorly done and the sequence of the scenes are like absolutely wtf?? The last scene doesn't mean anything special, but the fact that they MADE it the last scene made the audience think whether there is more to it than what's seen.... Ugh.. The writers must have been on crack.
Horribly executed ending... My god.. Qi Tian sacrificing herself could be an absolutely heartbreaking story, but this drama did not execute this line very well at all... More time could have been spent on that part, and the reunion of our couple was also very abrupt. I understand that Qi Xun probably could tell those postcards are made up and his sister is gone, all she wants is for him to be happy with Shuang Shuang. But if the audience has to GUESS and ASSUME then clearly you didn't do a good job. Also wtf is ending the whole drama on Wan Tian meeting a Qi Xun look-a-like???? Wtf? She's not even a main character at all! You're supposed to end the drama on the MAIN COUPLE. Wtf. Instead the last we see of the couple is like in the fourth to last scene?? HUH!? Also the couple barely had any scenes in the ending... At least show that they are truly happy and living a blissful life after Qi Tian's sacrifice.... I have no idea what the writers were thinking ending the show like that. So what, the thing you want the audience to remember about this drama is Wan Tian gets a happy ending? What??????
Drama was good and satisfying for most part until the last episode.. Quite poorly executed.. The couple is SUPER DUPER cute and sweet, so that like always automatically earns a high rating from me HAHAHA. TOO cute I finished the drama in like two days. Could not stop at all starting from Ep 8 HAHA High rewatch value for sure.
I am so disappointed with the last episode, it is unbelievable how much a bad ending can ruin all this drama's…
LOOL what??? How can the last episode make your rating go from AMAZING to FAIL? Even though I can understand the ending being unsatisfying for some people, but in no way were the flaws devastating enough for such an exaggerative drop in a rating. Doesn't seem fair to completely forget about the pleasure the drama gave you for 19 episodes and end up concluding it's a bad drama not worth watching. After all, it kept you interested for 95% of the show...
seriously after their first kiss on ep 6 they already become lovers and slept together. i would understand joon…
Completely agree... I just got to that part and I also think that the romance developed too abruptly... Don't get me wrong, I want the pairing to happen, but the pace needs to be smooth -.- I also totally get that Bong Pil already likes her, but for Jae Yi to suddenly automatically return the same feelings all cuz she found out about the truth of his revenge plan and her mother? I get that they need each other's back as support emotionally... but for all of that to happen in the same episode...????????????? Before Ep 6, I barely saw any glimpse of Jae Yi looking like she likes Bong Pil romantically at all. I mean I like the couple and all now that they're together, but it really irks me when people get together so randomly.
9/10 because it kind of slowed down at the end, and I would've liked it if they were able to expand a littttle bit more on K and Teacher Kim's story. I also had a problem with Wooju dropping out of school and leaving it at that, with not much to tell about his future plans. It's okay to take a break from education but not a good idea to end the story like that and give wrong signals to little kids.
I know many people thought the ending was boring, but I accept it as I do think this story needs to wrap up positively as encouragement for the audience and leave them thinking in a POSITIVE light. This drama did what they could to wrap the story up for all the characters. I think the disappointment also has to do with the fact that the writers tried too hard to make the ending of Episode 19 suspenseful and made it seem like there was more stories and truths to be revealed, but when Episode 20 came, it all ended up just being a wrap up. Overall really good drama, and just great that there's a drama dedicated to showing the horror behind the education system in Korea and other Asian countries that have similar problems. Not just Korean, but many Asian families have the same problem parents who push their kids hard, threaten them and treat them harshly. They think they are thinking for their children's future and preparing for their future success, but they don't realize how wrong they're doing everything. Moreover, they don't realize they are treating their kids like possessions and just extra things they can brag about so they can look good. Their threats and harshness can actually harm their kids, and although most families won't end up so dramatic like the stories in Sky Castle, many kids are psychologically affected/traumatized inside. You might not be able to see it on the outside, but who knows how many years down the road, those suppressed emotions may blow.
There is a reference about the ending of this drama, so it is up to you if you want to read it. I really enjoyed…
I agree with all your points, but I'll let the thing about not showing the poor side go because I don't think it's fair to expect that from this drama. The story was never meant to go that way anyways, and it probably wouldn't have been that high quality of a drama if it had to be all-rounded. But I do agree things like being able to quit jobs is not an easy thing to do, and many people wouldn't be able to find a connection with that. However, I think while watching this drama, we have to just keep in mind to stand in the characters' shoes. Quitting and giving up their high position job for someone who lived at the top of the pyramid with his head held up high is a big step and sacrifice to their standards and requires courage. I think these events still convey the morals well enough though the average viewer probably isn't anywhere near being in an elite society. I definitely have to 100% agree I was also pretty wtf about Wooju not finishing school. I am all for him exploring the world and taking a break from studies, but at least have him finish his last semester and gain his high school diploma? It's definitely not that good of a conclusion to show kids in school and could give them the wrong impression that school isn't important and that you don't need school to learn. Moreover, they just ended the drama with Wooju travelling Europe; didn't show whether he had goals to return to school nor did they show concretely WHAT he learned that made his travels so valuable. But anyways, just being critical, overall this show was enjoyable and addicting and I'm very glad someone decided to produce a drama to show this side of Asian families. Resonated with this very much. Parents need to understand that often times they push their kids to do well simply for their own pride and treat them like trophies and possessions. Acknowledge the well-being of your kids and remember reputation and big names are not everything.
