It was a good ride! I loved the cinematography, loved the OST, loved the concept (as I love fantasy dramas), loved the fashion and IU was a great surprise with her character and acting. Didn't like her much in Scarlet Heart, but I quite liked her character here and she pulled off the character nicely. Story wise........ hm. As I said I loved the concept, so it was captivating at the very start. But towards the end, I realize I loved Man Wol's past hidden story more than the present story. The ghosts stories were enjoyable to watch as well, but did they really contribute that much to our main characters' stories? I honestly failed to care much about Man Wol and Chan Sung's love story; in fact I really loved Man Wol and Chung Myeong waaaaay more... After that story arc officially ended, I found myself quite disappointed and a little bored towards the end (especially when the episodes were getting LONGER...). Can't say I really felt the deep romance the drama was trying to sell. And I have to say, for a main character, Chan Sung's character was really uninteresting and not captivating... It is really true that his character would almost be like a blank piece of paper without Man Wol. This whole drama's star is really Man Wol, and only Man Wol. Other characters were barely given much storytime, so it was hard for the audience to really truly care about them. PO was a joy to watch, just cuz his character was super duper cute, and I guess he got more story time with his own love line. But otherwise, the story of this drama I'd say is stuffed with a lot of mini stories, but barely any development for any supporting characters. Anyhow, the drama kept me interested for the most part with the gradual revelation of Man Wol's past. Man Wol and Chung Myeong's tragic love story is probably my fave arc of the show. I'd totally watch a drama with them as the main characters.
This was a pretty good lakorn to watch! Love the main couple... though honestly there could've been more kiss scenes damnit. They seem to have no problem with putting forced kisses in there, then it takes forever for real sweet kisses to happen T_T As usual, Thai dramas are full of makjang elements and forced kisses/yanking the girl's arms, etc... so you kind of got to get over that part and accept it as part of lakorn culture... I quite liked most of the characters, and I really liked that the female lead isn't stupid and weak and recognizes the importance to be respected as a female. The ML was a bit forceful with her in the beginning; she wasn't smitten right away and tells him off accordingly. Definitely disagree with people saying her character is boring; she is actually very wise and mature. But the one thing that kind of had me going like ???wtf??? is the fact that she kept telling everyone he's P'Tor. Like nooo girlll, don't ruin his plan!!! Hahahaha...but not really her fault though, it's normal for her to go around saying that. The plot I'd say is not bad; usual revenge plots, but not too draggy at all. I usually start getting impatient and use the fast forward button halfway through, but this one kept me sitting through till the last few episodes (cuz it was just taking unnecessarily long for the villain to finally be defeated).
I was very hesitant to watch this lakorn, since the 'slap-n-kiss' tag is a real turn-off for me, but after the…
Haha I think most lakorns will never be able to derive away from forced kisses and some sort of verbal/physical violence... That just seems to be how the drama culture is in Thailand. No idea why people think that stuff is romantic, but it seems a lot of Asian viewers still like watching that stuff. Probably will take a looonng time for that to change, so when watching lakorns, you really have to try and ignore it.
1) This is classic victim blaming. Whether you're strangers or acquaintances, sexual assault is unacceptable behavior.…
It's people like you that make women afraid to speak up when they're assaulted. How the fck is that NOT victim blaming. Why are men not able to control their urges? Why is it the women's responsibility to have to protect themselves from men? Why do men not have the responsibility to be a DECENT person and respect others?? How the hell is it the women's fault for trying to have a good time with a friend? So people who don't wanna be assaulted should just avoid hanging out with men altogether then?? Do you even hear what you're saying? You were like "oh no" then after reading that part you decide the blame should go to the victim's and not the man. Suddenly you no longer feel sorry for the women. No criticism at all for the criminal. That's how people keep finding excuses for themselves and for these sex assault criminals. People who still think like you are the reason why sexual assault is still a huge issue in this world. Men don't think they are at fault. It's the women's fault for not avoiding them. You people think if they don't wanna be touched, then they shouldn't come close to them or dress nicely. And even after all Byungshin said, you still fail to see what is wrong with this kind of thinking. Absolutely ridiculous. And no, if you were attacked in an alley at 3am, the first question a DECENT person would ask is ARE YOU OK? and blame the ATTACKER for using violence.
Just skipped through ep 3 and decided to drop it. I want to say it's not even entirely because of infedilty. It's…
Yeah, I just don't think you can use real life standards to judge TW idol dramas... LOL.... you have no idea how many people were saying everyone's hearts were fluttering in that apartment scene where he grabbed her and placed her on the balcony. Somehow people still love these kinds of scenes where girls get pushed against a wall... lmao.... I totally get what you mean.. in real life that's just super creepy and harassment... but I can get past that cuz I know it's just a show and the weirdass, old fashioned cliches these idol dramas use and yeah like some people said, he stopped after that.
I am sure it is hard for some to root for this drama, and I think that is absolutely fine and I totally understand. But for people who may be on the fence about it, if you try to watch this drama with an open mind and kind of like exploring a social topic, you might be able to get past it. You don’t need to root for the main characters to watch a drama. Honestly, in no way is this drama trying to justify cheating. Cheating is indeed “wrong” and you are breaking the trust and commitment you made to your partner. The fact that you can’t break it off before starting a new relationship is your problem and a mistake. But unfortunately infidelity happens in real life and the drama is showing that aspect of it and showing why even a regular person who TRIES to be a good, faithful person, may end up giving into temptation. Some people are just b*stards and like to f*ck around. But I don’t think the MC’s in this drama are “bad”, “evil” people who are just trying to play around. They are people who are trying to find their happiness, and unfortunately, they don’t feel it with their current partners. This is a drama that tries to get the audience to think deeply about relationships; particularly people in unhappy ones. Many people out there are in relationships that may not be right for them, but they don’t do anything because they are afraid of change, afraid of being alone, or they are with the person because on paper, their qualities match their “ideal” partner. The drama shows the reality of many relationships in real life. It is not easy to stay away from someone right for you, especially when you may be with someone who is WRONG for you. You want to stay away from the temptation, but it's easier said than done, especially when you are in an unhappy relationship. If you find someone that is better for you, how mentally strong are you to turn away from that? Can you be clear minded 100% of the time to be able to clearly make the “best” decision?
Like I said, I don’t think drama is encouraging cheating. It’s trying to get people to think more about their relationships and also show that cheating =/= sinful and unforgivable. I think this drama at least will get some people who are in unhappy relationships to wake up and break it off before you even have to choose between infidelity or faithfulness.
People say they want to watch happy ending for this drama. I'm here confused what happy ending really would mean…
Happy ending would be for all characters to be happy in the long term, and end up with people they are happy with. Clearly no one is actually happy in their current relationship right now...
The chemistry they have is nuts... Pretty much throwing all my morals away and just shipping them so haarddd. I like that they are showing they grey areas of a relationship where people just either fall out of love, or they are with the wrong people and meet the person that's better for them. IMO, it is very very hard to control yourself from cheating "emotionally". However, in real life, I still think it's wrong to physically cheat (whether that's kissing/going on dates/sleeping tgt) and would not support it. But at the same time, I am sure it is 100% true that it is sometimes hard to break off a relationship like in Wei Wei's case, where LOGICALLY, everything sounds right. All the qualities her current bf has is supposed to be a better ending. But it just totally feels wrong... Self control / strong mentality is really not an easy thing and this drama is showing the reality of it all.
Awful. The leads have no chemistry... you can't play music and use slow motion to cover for this. Are they dating…
waaaaat!! Their chemistry is great!! Most people are in it for their chemistry...You can tell when their chemistry is making most people root for a cheating couple ????
seriously can't stand the fact that TW idol dramas only air once a week FML!! END OF AUG for this to end??? I can't chase every week like this :( So desperately waiting for this to finish airing so I can watch.... SIGH
