Couldn't ask for a better movie adaptation. The cast, acting, ost and cinematography - no complaints. The humour…
Okay, found the comments shipping the characters whilst Satomi is still a student. I'm sorry but a 14-18 year old with an adult is wrong, please don't make this movie weird. I was happy they picked an actor who looked 14 'cause I thought people wouldn't ship them.... boy was I wrong, y'all are n@sty. I know there's a manga sequel, but I will still find it weird even if Satoshi is a college student. Imagine befriending a middle schooler and dating him once he's legal. Personally I cannot, I will feel like a predator. Thanks for coming to my tedtalk.
In the end, it's supposed to be a comedy movie with touching storyline, so it's worth watching anyway, don't worry…
The manga did give off a weird vibe at the end after the time jump, but the movie made sure to in no way indicate any romantic undertones - and they 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙𝙣'𝙩. A middle school students whose voice is breaking is around 14-15 years old, and even though Japan's age of consent is sadly 16, it's still weird and p3d0philic. If you mean the moments the kid is called "cute" or is teased, or when he recites lyrics at the end, are romantic in any way - that's on your imagination, 'cause I didn't find them romantic in the least.
Couldn't ask for a better movie adaptation. The cast, acting, ost and cinematography - no complaints. The humour of the manga was portrayed perfectly. Saito Jun did a great job being a young actor - great pick for playing a middle school student.
I loved this manga when I was a teen and was very pleasantly surprised that it's finally getting an adaptation. That said, someone point me to subbed ep 4 pls 😂🙏🏻
Does anyone have recommendations for another darker bl?
It's not as dark, but one of my favorite psychological jbl is "Double" (2022). Then there is a movie adaptation of Asumiko Nakamura manga called "Double mints" (if you like troubled characters with toxic elements).
Haven't gotten so excited since I found out there's a live adaptation of Double Mints and animation of Twittering birds never fly. I was WAITING for a dark psychological JBL with troubled leads and toxic relationship beginnings. Episode 4 was difficult to stomach but I can't wait for the next one - why didn't I wait for this to completely release before binging it?! Rating it 8/10 for now (why are the ratings abysmally low tho?).
SO GOOD. I wish there was a clumsy kiss in the last ep :/ I guess some people are already complaining about the age gap and the cute old man, a small kiss in this wholesome show would be too much for them. Still giving a 9/10 although last ep felt rushed and had too many filler flashbacks.
How did I overlook this series? I loved Kura Yuki in Kimi no koto date mite itai, and he's so extra baby in this one. A lovely coming of age mini-series with pleasant cinematography. This goes on my "comfort shows to rewatch" list, 8/10 <3
Why did I start watching this whilst knowing it's most probably been cancelled 😭 So promising, no unlikable characters so far, family drama and witty conversations, a himbo in the making (Wei Jia Yu), and great chemistry from main couple 😔3 I hope this won't end up like Addicted, but it's China soo....... 🥲
It's not a new trend. In BL manga it's one of several versions of seme/uke-dynamics, which mimic heteronormative…
If you want an assertive girl and not a masculine guy, check out Colorful love: My androgynous boyfriend - Both the main and side couple fit in that category :D
