They did change a lot from the novel, its not as happy as the drama. More gritty. It's not surprising since this was promoted as a coming of age or youth cdrama.

Personally, loved the novel and loving the drama. The novel was gritty and a bit darker. But i also love the drama that gives this happy comforting vibes. It gives me a what if version of their stories.
