We think alike! It is unfortunate that many will just dislike the ending and lower the rating. I would have preferred to see more of the couple together in the last few episodes but this was an amazing show. I wish more shows would have couples like this. I am hoping for another with Jing Yi's next show.

I felt I needed to add this for those who might watch and be surprised at an ending they did not anticipate or like. Before I go into my interpretation of the ending, let me say that I saw the live interview with Johnny Huang and Zhang Jing Yi where he said that the ML did not die. He said it was an open ending. And before I go even further, let me say MY RATING OF 10 STILL STANDS! I love the couple and the characters in the show. The characters were well developed. The relationship between the main couple was beautiful. This drama deserves a 10. Many are changing their reviews because they are upset or disappointed about the ending because it seems the ML died. The drama ends with Nan Chu dancing on stage while the members of the fire department watch. There is an empty seat. But the scene shifts to Lu Xiao walking into an empty theater and sitting in the #34 seat. He claps at the end of the dance and no one but Nan Chu hears him. This could be interpreted as even though he could not make it to her performance, he is there for her always.
NOTE: In Chinese the #3 means life and the #4 means death. There is a significance in the #34. Whether you feel the ML died or not, or if this drama deserves a high rating, there is no denying how beautifully the emotions were depicted. I am leaving my rating of 10 even though I feel sad. I am sad because I will miss the main couple and the wonderful characters. I am sad because Lu Xiao was not in reality sitting in the audience. He did not die as Johnny Huang stated. He was away guarding the forests. Nan Chu said, " You go protect the safety of the country. I will protect you." The scene with the dumplings was obviously one from before Yang lost his leg. And Yang is still alive so it is not a scene of all the men who died. When Lu Xioa promised Nan Chu to meet her after she was rescued from the forest fire, he did. One significant thing he said was that he would always keep his promise. Therefore, when he told her to wait for him at home, he kept that promise. I am going with the idea that Lu Xiao did not die.

I love the leads and characters but from what I am hearing the ending is not going to make me happy. I am not going to lower my rating because the show was good in terms of character development and emotional depth. Also have to mention one of the best couples who were supportive of each other.
ML is died, all you asked questions is useless 😅
The couple is worth watching. I love this couple. They get together early in the show and from what I understand they did not break up but she had to go away for a while. This is one of the best couples
