I understand about talking about other shows but my response was also about waiting to watch South Wind Blows because of my experience with the ending of Bright Eyes in the Dark. As I said, I don't regret watching it, but I cannot deal with another open ending. I dropped You Are Desire at ep 16 as soon as I read the ending was left up in the air. I was not as invested in that couple as with Nan Chu and Lu Xiao. I can see South Wind Blows has many viewers. I am tempted to start but still trying to recover from the last drama.

I agree it would have been great to have more romance but I think it was much more than 2%.

I think I know which drama you are talking about and I am still trying to move on. The chemistry between the leads was amazing. I don't know that he died for sure though. If you go on that page you will see my interpretation of the final episode. Even thinking he did not die, we did not get the wedding scene that was in the final episode of the book. I get the disappointment in some dramas. I remember watching a Kdrama a few years ago that had an ending I was not expecting. I think it was called the Crowned Clown. It started out as a comedy and then romance and then I loved the way the ML became a leader that one could love. Then right when I expected him and the and FL to finally be free to love each other, the unexpected happened and then there was an open ending. I was so mad. But with Bright Eyes, I loved the characters and the emotions of love from the show that even my disappointment cannot erase the way I felt when I gave it a 10. Any show that has me so connected that I am going back to rewatch scenes for either its beauty or to understand its meaning and purpose is a 10 for me. I get what you are saying about a rating of 10 should be perfect and this drama disappointed me in the last 4 episodes. But then the last 15 was filled with emotions that even if they are sad emotions, are still enough to make me feel this drama deserves a 10. I watched the last 15 mins many times. Every time I watch, I feel Lu Xiao did not die based don't the words and symbols. But sometimes there are doubts so this ending is not my preference but it is still beautiful.

I know you did not find the chemistry between the leads to be great and that is fine. Nobody can tell you how to feel. I love the way this actress plays romance roles. I find her believable. I saw Zhang Jing Yi in Lighter and Princess for the first time and found her convincing in intimate scenes where she shows love and affection. I found that here also and she is even better than before. I understand that we all react differently. For example, Seven Tan seems to be a favorite for some, but I dislike watching her in romance scenes. Unlike Jing Yi, she does not convince me and she looks so. uncomfortable that she makes me uncomfortable.I literally cringe watching her. I am not saying Seven Tan is a bad actress. I am just saying she seems uncomfortable in intimate scenes and I don't feel the love and warmth I feel watching Jing Yi who is now one of my favorite actresses after watching Bright Eyes in the Dark.

If I had known about the ending of this drama before watching it, I might not have bothered. But I don't regret watching it. I will forgive the overuse of themes such as nationalism because of the positives in this show.

Trust me when I say many who loved the drama and will always feel the emotional depth that is one of the most amazing thing in this drama, will rather have the happy wedding that is in the book. The fact that I can still feel I am missing the couple and other characters days after I watched the ending, says something about this drama.

Are you saying you skipped through the drama to only watch the couple? I thought you said you skipped the whole drama. When you skip through you will miss the connections. I felt the last 4 episodes should have been about the couple getting back together and closing all stories but they went into a parallelism of the Ml and the Nan Chu's father. I would have preferred something else and definitely not the way it ended. I am so emotionally connected to this show that I am was saddened by the ending. However, for me, this show was a 10 on many levels and I am not going to lower the rating because it did not end the way I wanted it to. When I wrote about this drama, I did not just say I like it and it was just so good. I also wrote about the ending which in itself was beautiful. I recognize that but I would not have chosen that ending. You are entitled to how you feel and if you feel that skipping through the show is enough for you to leave a rating or enough for you to question when others rated it a 10, then that is up to. you.

In the same way you ask for those giving this drama a 10 to think, do you accept that maybe you did not understand those of us who feel this is a 10 because you were not as invested in the show to see the reasons behind the high rating? I can tell you I dislike open endings. And if I allowed my emotions of disappointment to take over my reasoning, I might have sulkily lowered the rating. But I did not because there is still no denying how beautiful it was to watch the characters bond and care for each other.

If you watched Forever and Ever, the FL's name is Shiyi. Shi Yi is 11 in Chinese and she was the 11th desciple. When she gave her phone number to the ML he said he would not forget it. Her phone number turned out to be "Forever and Ever." With the number 34, 4 sounds like "si" in Chinese which is also the same sound as the word for death. 34 is not considered a lucky number as death follows life which is a fact. 34 could also be thought to be "difficult life." Lu Xiao sits on 34 and so his life is difficult as he faces danger to protect the country. Therefore when Nan Chu said he protects the country and she will protect him, does that sound as if he is still alive for her to protect and is just away?

I would hope they would not do that especially as they already killed off Yu who was everything good in a man.

I wish they had given more time to the leads. It saddens me and I miss them. I don't regret watching this drama. The FL is one of the best I have ever seen when it comes to amazing chemistry with her costars. There are some who go through the motions of acting out intimate scenes but are never convincing.

Sorry to hear that. I always check the ending before watching. I checked the book and it was a happy ending with a wedding so my shock with this. I was already too invested by ep 35 to drop it and I do love the couple. I love the way they were with each other. I am also upset about the ending but trying to see how it could be that he did not die. Perhaps the part when she says "You go protect the world. I will protect you" helps me to believe he was away on duty. I would love to have a conversation with that director. There were too many deaths as it is and the firefighter who left and worked as a food delivery man ended up dying anyway in a fire. You are the only person since I put this in my commentary last night and in my review who mentioned the #34. It was obvious when they zoomed in on the seat number. I had a debate with my mother about the #34 and all she could say is that she doesn't believe in those numbers the way the old-time Chinese do. LOL! I told her I just wanted to go over it with her as I only know 3 sounds like the word for life or birth and 4 sounds like the word for death, "si." Life followed by the death of life is difficult. I totally agree! I am so mad too. After all the deaths they should have given us something more like the wedding in the book. But the dance scene was beautiful and I am disappointed he was not physically there to watch her.
