On Psychopath Diary Sep 6, 2023
Psychopath Diary is one of my favorite dramas that I absolutely enjoyed and it captivated me. It's the reason why I started to love the dark comedy genre. I've watched this drama years ago so I don't remember much, but my only complaint is how short the interactions of the fake and real psycho. I wish it was longer. The real psycho was really interested in him and it would be more fun to see them as allies before turning to enemies.

Anyway, I hope there's more dramas like this. I love tropes about "murderers with misunderstandings" and I even thought of a plot that I want to see be made into a kdrama: The main character killed someone that he thoroughly planned and then he suddenly decides to confess it to the police. But the police didn't believe him since he looks kind/innocent/stupid to do a crime. He tries to convince them but his evidence are also lacking. Later, someone else was framed to it which made his case complicated so he has to work hard to prove that he's the murderer.

Psychopath Diary is one of my favorite dramas and it became the standard of dark comedy for me. And this older drama is similar to it, but it has a twist which I enjoyed a lot. It's so crazy and funny in a strange way that drew me in. But I didn't really like the later episodes when they focused more on the entertainment industry. I also wasn't that interested when the romance started between the main leads. The dark comedy is the best part of this drama.

This drama is so interesting and fun! I was laughing so much in every episodes. It's not a perfect drama but it's my cup of tea since fantasy is my favorite genre. Rembrary is a unique and memorable main character. He's such a breathe of fresh air and I wanted to see him more as an idol. (But it got frustrating with all the scandal after scandal, I wish they made it less.)

Other people might not like this or familiar with the concept. I love historical-fantasy manhwas and I want to see them have a live action kdrama adaption. But I know it's impossible due to its western settings. I'm glad we saw a glimpse of it through this drama, where they showed the other world at the first and last episode. It's cool.

This drama portrayed a perfect friendship between men and their strong brotherhood. Even though they're rival athletes, I love how they easily got along and became friends. It shows how they're truly kind people. I laughed so much with their commentary and comparison about Mayweather and Pacquiao.

I don't like stuffs about gangsters and fights, but the actions scenes in here are cool. It's interesting to see the 2 male leads showing a fair and square fight with their own ability and strength, making it realistic. But sometimes I wish they would just use a gun to easily take down their enemies. The villains in this drama are so frustrating and I even got frustrated with the victims too. I couldn't stand how weak and foolish they are. But I'm glad to see the teamwork in this drama and how the problem was solved in the ending.

PS. I like how the archer girl appeared and helped on their fights, it's like an alternate for guns.
On Misaeng: Incomplete Life Sep 6, 2023
Wow. The first episode made me extremely anxious, uncomfortable and I felt the second hand embarrassment. I'm an introvert and inexperienced similar to the main lead and I can see myself acting like him in a workplace. But seeing his improvement by working hard and learning a lot of lessons on his way is so amazing and inspiring.

Misaeng is definitely one of the masterpieces in kdrama. An old but gold which is relatable to any generation. It shows the reality and values. But I have to admit, I got bored after episode 11. The character development and relationships of the main lead is interesting and you want to keep rooting for him. But the office settings just feels so cold and it makes me feel suffocated. I still watched it until the end and this drama gave me mixed emotions.

The first scene shocked me and I thought I clicked a different video lol. There's many R18 Korean movies but this is the first Korean drama I know that explicitly shows sex scenes and it's long too. It's really daring. This is an OTT/webdrama so they didn't have restrictions. The side cast doing it were probably unknown indie actors and the main leads were not that revealing.

Anyway, I'm glad to see a kdrama about sex education and focuses on the women's perspectives. I think the writers decided to make this drama after watching Nevertheless lol. They want to give awareness about healthy sex with the right person. I love how they depict communication, understanding and patience are important with your partners and even with yourself. Never be ashamed and be open minded but in a sincere way.

PS. There's an older kdrama about sex education but it's on the lighter side compared to this drama and it focuses more on feminism and other issues women are facing in the society - "It's Okay to Be Sensitive" - one of the best dramas yet underrated. It's highly recommended.

I'm glad this week's episodes weren't full dark mode. They're balancing the mystery well with the romance. Some people complained about the main leads getting together fast and nothing happening anymore, but it's actually good that they got into a relationship before diving to Doha's murder case. It's necessary for their development. Doha is going through a lot of problems again, but this time there's Solhee who believes in him and he gains strength from her. They've already build their trust and now Solhee is helping Doha with his case. Solhee is not a badass character, but I love how smart and brave she is. She knows how to deal and fight back in different kinds of situations. She always protects Doha from people who's harming him. It's great to see them working together to find the truth. It's also funny how Solhee even had a connection with the gangsters.

I thought Doha's ex-gf simply died by suicide, but it looks like there's really a murderer. The ex-gf's dad and CEO's brother seems to have a bigger part to it, they became more suspicious than Doha's mom and CEO. Maybe they're the ones who lied on Doha's mom about Doha being a murderer, and that's how she tried to fabricate his case and paid people for his alibi. I'm excited how things will unravel on the next episodes.

I don't like love-hate relationships since it's annoying and filled with more misunderstandings compared to others. But I like the relationship between the main leads in this drama despite that trope. I think it's due to the fact that we already know their conditions and intentions on why they're acting that way since the start. We could understand their feelings and actions. It's fun to see their interactions and how they got closer despite their own flaws that affects each other. Their growth together is wonderful.
On Heart to Heart Sep 5, 2023
For me, this is one of the worst dramas similar to Another Miss Oh. It has a plot that shouldn't exist in romcom genre and the characters are unlikable. I'm surprised with all the positive comments especially about the romance.

First of all, the male lead is a f*cking trash. He's supposed to be a psychiatrist but he's literally aggressive, violent and insensitive to the female lead ever since the first time they met! He doesn't suit to be a psychiatrist at all and his red flags are so clear. He's so unprofessional and unethical, his license should have been taken from the start after he got arrested. And the fact that he easily slept with her made him more worse. Yikes. He wasn't treating her, but just using her. I feel so disgusted and mad at him. He really just turned me off.

I initially watched this drama for the female lead's social phobia but instead of understanding her, she became annoying. It's interesting to see how she deals with her life and work, but the romance part with her was bad. I can't believe how all the years she love and dedicated to the second male lead suddenly all disappeared just because she slept with another man. That was lame. She suddenly started to heal through the trashy male lead, but she was just manipulated by him. This drama was so poor at portraying her illness and feelings.

And the second male lead who is clearly the opposite of the male lead, just got wasted. The fact that he's been so kind, patient and caring to the female lead for 7 long years deserves an award. He was the only reason why the female lead was able to still go out and keep living. He even broke off his wedding but it was too late (his partner was just from a blind date set up by their parents, so they easily agreed to break up). He always gives efforts to communicate with the female lead and it's disappointing how the female lead got easily swayed and moved on to the trashy male lead.

Anyway, this drama had a good potential if they only focused on the female lead's social phobia and how she genuinely overcame it. But the male lead who's a psycho in psychiatrist disguise ruined this drama.

Never trust those people who complain and accuse historical/political Korean dramas/movies of being anti-Japan. This drama might be fiction but it's still based on TRUE HISTORY that you can never erase and should be acknowledged and remembered forever.

And saw someone commenting that there's nothing else to make political content on so Korea target Japan and bring their patriotic sentiment through Japanese colonial rule... When there's A LOT of Korean dramas/movies about North Korea and their very own especially about Gwangju uprising in 1980s. How are they spewing nonsense without knowing anything. It's obvious that they just want to defend Japan.
On Song of the Bandits Sep 5, 2023
I love the visuals and settings in the early 1900s where the western culture started to blend in with Korean culture. The classy vibes is immaculate. But that era is also very intense and cruel due to Japanese colonization. I strongly support all the heroes who are fighting for their freedom and independence.

There's a lot of Korean movies about it, but only few Korean dramas before like Chicago Typewriter and Mr. Sunshine. I'm glad there's now more: Tale of the Nine Tailed Season 2, Song of the Bandits and Gyeongseong Creature.
Lily Alice Sep 5, 2023
For the ratings, it's understandable since this drama is not a masterpiece with mind-blowing plot, high budget production or A-list veteran cast. It's a romcom/mystery/supernatural drama which is simply interesting and enjoyable, but it also depends on the viewer's taste. Even though majority like the romcom part (I do too), I still prefer the supernatural part about Solhee's ability which was special to the drama and had more focused in the beginning. Then they focused on the romance part in the middle. And now in the last few episodes, the drama is gonna focused more on the mystery part.

PS. Even though Kim Sohyun is a popular actress, her dramas weren't hit aside from Ruler/Emperor which was a historical melodrama that achieved 17% ratings. So I wasn't expecting something like My Lovely Liar to get high ratings in Korea.
Lily Alice Sep 5, 2023
It's funny how people are complaining about romance-thiller when those kind of dramas has existed for a long time. It's not a new trend. And there's a lot of normal romance-comedy out there, it never disappeared. People just ignore it and when it gets more popular, they will still complain about it. Everyone has different tastes, but it's annoying how the opinions are not consistent. They just want something to complain on, instead of digging more dramas and watching their preference.

And about My Lovely Liar, did you all not read the SYNOPSIS at all? The murder mystery is important in the plot and has been shown since the beginning. It's already clear. But people are acting like it just randomly got added and unnecessary. It's also the same for the other dramas where the crime cases has a meaning to the story and it's the reason why the main characters turned out in certain ways. It's not just all about romance.
On Kimi to Sekai ga Owaru Hi ni Sep 5, 2023
Takeuchi Ryoma is a good actor, but Nakajo Ayami is just bad. I've seen her in many movies/dramas before, but her facial expressions bothered me so much while watching this drama and it contributes to her unlikable character. It's also the reason why I couldn't feel the "love" between their characters. It's awkward and forced. Their acting and chemistry is just not on par with each other.
On Kimi to Sekai ga Owaru Hi ni Sep 5, 2023
I love zombie genre but this wasn't convincing. The zombies (makeup or actors' expressions) looks more silly than scary. The first outbreaks in zombie apocalypse is important for me but they didn't show it. I still enjoyed it anyway, but the romance ruined it for me even though that's the point for this drama. I can't stand the female lead, she's really made to be weak and annoying. A damsel in distress. I couldn't feel their "love" and the male lead's sacrifices got wasted most of the time. The female lead got even worse in season 2 and the male lead feels more like pushover because of her. There's a lot of misunderstandings and separations. I just couldn't root for them at all.

And surprisingly, I like the second female and male lead. I didn't like them at first but I eventually cared about them compared to the main leads. Even though they started as weak and bad, they improved and had an amazing character development. The second female lead learned to be strong emotionally and physically. The second male lead became compassionate. I love how they got closer to each other. Their chemistry is intense, I could feel their emotions and I wanted them to survive. They stole the spotlight in this drama.

honestly I don't like this trend of adding a crime storyline to decent romance dramas. let romance dramas be just…
There are tons of normal romance dramas out there. And the dramas with mixed of romance-thriller has been around for a long time. It's different which makes it more interesting. But it depends on people's tastes.

My Lovely Liar is not a normal romance drama. It clearly says in the synopsis about the murder mystery and it's an important part of the storyline that's been shown since the start. Also, the romance in this drama wouldn't happen if there was no crime involved. Doha being accused of murder, running away and meeting Solhee who helps him.

The shift into a thriller is kind of annoying. Scratch that, it is annoying. I don't think we need to go there.
This drama is mixed genres and the thriller/mystery part has always been there from the beginning. It's an important aspect of the drama. If it wasn't, then the plot about Doha being a murder suspect and reclusive wouldn't exist. And now that there's 6 episodes left, they're gonna dive deeper to it and find the truth to his case.

I felt like some of these theories people are coming up with are either an overstretch or slightly lacking but…
But wasn't Doha's face shown in the first episode when he was walking holding a bloody shirt? The police said they found his bloody shirt and it was the evidence how he became a murder suspect. He probably got it back in the beach. (Maybe something more happened like the girl got mad, removed his shirt and threw it back on him).

And I just thought of another theory... The dad of Doha's ex-gf was in debt and what if he saw Doha and the girl together. He might be the first person who found her body, but he lied and threatened Doha's mom for money to keep it as secret. Also, with the sudden appearance of Solhee's dad being a woodman, he might be the witness when the body was being buried in the woods. The dad of Doha's ex-gf is probably the one who did it. Him, the mom and CEO are involved in that conspiracy.
On My Lovely Liar Aug 31, 2023
In my opinion, I think the plot twist in this drama could be that no one is a murderer. The only crime committed is hiding the corpse. I said this before, the ex-gf died by suicide in the beach but someone misunderstood it as murder - who is the mom, so in order to protect Doha and not to ruin her reputation, she buried the body.

Anyway, here's my theory about the CEO after Solhee detected his truth and lie:

Truth - He trusts Doha
Since they've been friends for a long time, he knows that Doha isn't a murderer. The alibi part must have been planned and ordered by Doha's mom but the CEO doesn't really know the full details about Doha's situation in the beach. I think he received money from Doha's mom and that's how he built his company. (His comment about Doha being a murderer is maybe just a spur of the moment since he cares more about his company getting into scandal.)

Lie - His congrats to Doha's relationship
I think he's secretly obsessed with Doha. He's not happy that Doha is with Solhee and recovering from his trauma. He wants Doha to stay secluded and he doesn't want Doha to be away and leave his company since he's the money maker. Aside from being a friend, it's the reason why he's too protective of Doha's identity and murder case which might ruin his business. (It could also be the reason why his wife cheated on him since he's more focused on his company.)

I don't think he's an evil person, but he got blinded by money and success. He did bad things for betraying and using Doha.

Title Ditto Spoiler
His existence alone proves the best friend and other guy were destined to end up together from the beginning.…
Well there's a huge difference between the original and remake. First off, they changed the genders. The main lead in the new version is a man, so he easily got jealous and aggressive which made the girl turn away from him. It feels more natural that they will break up.

But from the old version, the main lead is a shy and sweet girl, she saw the guy and her friend together but she didn't do anything at all. Maybe their relationship will not work later, but at the present the guy was genuine to her but she just pulled away since she feels guilty about the son in the future. If she didn't have the radio, know anything and have negative thoughts, I think she could still be with the guy. Their break up was too sudden.
