Did you forget that SML used her several times by manipulating her and putting her life in danger on purpose. I call this harming physically and mentally.
SML is a manipulative sociopath.

I understand you so much. But caution when she is with Lai Luo Zhi you might miss plot points. I know the felling, I have been there too *sigh*

Detailed answer up :

Episode 9 SML loses his opportunity with FL :
SML lost FL's admiration / love after he killed the old couple.

Episode 10 FL starts to like ML :
After that ML performed the sword dance when he was drunke in front of the emperor. FL's glare at him changed at that point of time.
So I would say that she started liking him from then on.

Episode 10 ML cares for FL unconsciously :
ML holds her hand while they were followed. She burned the letter.
Then ML put the responsibility of all the death onto her, and says :
" why did I not Kill you"

Episode 11 ML is jealous without knowing it :
He came to return the clay cat but learns that FL is going on a trip with SML. So he keeps her clay cat and tells her :
"You said you wanted to leave, but you couldn't bear to part with Pei Yan."

=> I would say that he started liking her at that point of time.
There is a switch at episode 10/ 11 for the Leads.
At the end of episode 11 FL teased ML and ML smirked.

Exactly. The duality is every where. The script is well writen and I hope it continues to bring a good story like it did so far.

I agree on every points and I would add that the topic, the rendition of the actors and the using of symbols are just marvellous.
I also like the duality in this show.
for instance :
- JC puts some durt on WZ's face to make him look ugly, in order to infiltrate the empty temple and save the hungry people.
- WZ puts make up on JC's face to make her look prettier ( like shown in preview of ep 24)
or
- PY always belittling JC
- WZ always praising JC's might and abilities.
And the list goes on.

I just love this show.

So he was in a battle for the throne, back then. Now I understand why every thing revolves arround Prince Qi's death. The emperor's hands mmight be bloody from conspiring during those events.
