The extra fight was not needed especially with what happened.
It was not needed but the iconic scene with the pendant in his mouth was amazingly impactful *__*

They wanted it to be poetic. Like a dreamy ending. This is why lot of people think that he died and that this is a sad ending.
If the audience doesn't undestand. They messed up the ending

The notes appear the first time we see a character. This is why a say that this is the king that we saw rapping wanning earlier in the episode.

King Chen was killed on the battlefield.
Princess Situ Jiu Yue was fighting on the battlefield.

So I truely think that He killed the king and got back home.

I believe he survived and got home after killing the king.
I don't think that it was a dream or anything like that.

Yes because he killed the guy who rapped Wanning whe she was an hostage => the king .
