The romancing / seducing part is the best in this drama. How he slowly approaches her and brakes all her barriers without frightening her.
Without her even knowing. So cute ^^

Why? Because of the slow motion? Or because they kill wen li and Lu ji?

maybe because he watch a lot of xianxia and the are used to sab ending.
but yes this is a happy ending.

Everybody says it was not necessary but I like the fighting scene and the poetic ending.

The death of tong was heartbreaking. I cried and couldn't stop. They could have just let her leave town, not killed her.

This a matter of morals.
I don't understand why they kill Good and virtuous characters like Tong Er, Wen ji and Lu ji.

And they let live well evil , unscrupulous, murderers like
- Ji Shu Ran ( stepmother : crazy at home);
- Jiang Ruo Yao (sister : studying quietly living her best life after colludind with her ex fiancé to murder Jiang Li );
- Jiang Yu (accomplicit sister : lives at her husband residence, keeping on torturing him).

I am questionning the writter's sense of morals here

YES. Her father was such a dummy. His sadistic wife made him turn his back on his 6 year old daughter.
Now I understand why he was so dull when he confirmed that Xue Fang Fei wasn't Jiang Li. He didn't know how to be in from of her. The guilt was so deep.
This is the price he had to pay for abandonning his daughter to her death.

Yes. SYR considered XFF as his passeport to success and fortune.
She was his property. He planned to use her and never let her go.
I am pretty sure that he loved her, in his twisted way.
Otherwise, why would he be so jealous of Duke Su?
I totally get that she was on her way to become Duchess Su.
So she would be above SYR regarding the social status.
But still, He conned Princess Waning to kidnap XFF in order to remarry XFF.

Me too, I re-watched the first two episodes. It gave me butteflies every time they look at each other. And everytime the Duke Su softly smiles at whatever tactic she comes with.
They are so amazingly smart and they look-up to each other.
The girl is so capable!!!
Whenever she can speak, she can solve perilous situations, just like that. She doesn't know martial arts but she can throw rocks to save the Duke Su.
She is admirable ( *_*)

The casting was on point!!! I hope to watch them in other dramas.
It is my first ever historical c-drama. I am so in love with the drama.
I don't know if another on can surpass The Double.
From story, to acting, to special effects... everything was so beautiful (*_*)
