I don't find the character of the crown prince simple, the actor is so competent that he becomes complex.
I think so far for me not enough backstory was revealed that I can say he's complex. He himself said he was not mistreated growing up. It was only his own insecurity and greed. I gave him initial plus points when in the earlier eps he doesn't really intend to kill his brother, like maybe there is some sort of complex emotion between them. But right now, he just straight up want to butcher him. Somehow cartoonish for me. But yes, the actor is good.
So far really enjoying this. ML and FL had good chemistry and story progress. If there's one thing I do not like is that outside the maincouple, the subplots and secondary characters are not so interesting. The CrownPrince is kinda one dimensional, his scenes are just annoying. Wish he was written a bit like how LuoYunxi's character in AoL. Hostage Prince, we still yet to know what he'll be. But I'm again not a fan of overly simping on FL over a memory from 10yrs ago. The Emperor and XiYan princess, I don't even know what to feel about it. It's wholesome but icky.
Finally caught up with all episodes and then only decided to watch the trailer. Seems like we're in for a ride. I gotta agree that it went kinda mild after ep1, but it pulled me back in by ep13. It shed a lot of layer into the characters and I now start to truly root for them.
I'm on episode 7 and the last few episodes took me a couple of days to complete. I was so excited with the first…
Started this with no clue or expectation and yes, episode 1 started with a bang and then went mild. But I'd say ep13 onwards hooked me back in again. I guess give it a chance til then, if still not feeling it then maybe it's not for you.
I find his character pathetic, but the actor is pretty good. He's giving the crown prince a campy vibe that adds…
Yep, he's a good actor. But part of me wish they casted an equally goodlooking actor as the ML to atleast even out the playing field. As shallow as that sound lol Like in Ashes of Love for example.
I somehow feel bad for the Crown Prince actor, he's already got an unlikeable character and on top the ML is just too damn good looking in comparison. He'd likely get no sympathy from the audience, sad backstory or not.
Ep 8. Can someone explain what Shumo was still doing? I thought having the sister marry the Emperor and the 100 beauties meant the Hostage Prince is now free to go. Why did he need to continue dealing illegally?
I've really liking episode 1, but the dubbing(?) feels off to me. Is that the ML's real voice? I'm used to dubbing in Cdramas but this one doesn't sound natural at all. If I close my eyes, it doesn't sound as menacing (as I feel like they intended it to be), rather like someone with speech slur/disability.haha Also it is not synchronized with the actor's lip movement. Other than that, amazing ep1!
I have a question about Go Ahead. I'm asking in this comment section since most of the fans are here. Why did…
Also in Go Ahead, it's a crucial scene. That establishes pretty early on that ML, despite being really close, still sees FL as a girl. Whereas 2nd ML doesn't see FL that way and considers them siblings.
I'm not even a fan of cooking shows but I really like this. I'm not gonna dwell on whether it was rigged or not, the earlier challenges (specially the literal blind tasting) looks fair to me. If there is one stage that I feel the production may have rigged it, it is the "Cook your Life" challenge, probably they had to ensure atleast one from Black Spoon is in the finals. Too much advantage gained from that immunity.
Anyhow, it was fun. I love that this show did not create any drama, they could have had content for that with the tension during team challenges, but rather they focused on the cooking. Kudos for that! And the editing is really funny in a subtle way. All of the Chefs are quite likeable, it's just too bad that Matfia's little trash-talking didn't translate well (with good reason) to the public because his fellow Chefs are basically too nice and humble. My favorites are Chef Lee, Chef Maniac (if stress was a person lol), Chef Choi (so cocky yet so humble), Self-Made Chef and Triple Star. They are so anime character coded haha. And honestly, it would have been perfect if it was Triple Star who made it to the finals. Hope they do a season 2. And I hope no scandal shows up that will tarnish the feel good vibes it left (yes, I'm having a flashback from Physical 100 scandals lol).
It's kind of unfair, especially in restaurant competitions. I thought the winner would be determined by the most…
Does each mukbang customers have 1million limit? I think I missed that. If they do, I personally think that it makes it fair. Part of the challenge is to see their business strategy too, that's why they had to come up with unique menu names that will make the customers curious. If customers have limited funds, then they will have to carefully choose between ordering more of the cheaper dishes or spending on less but expensive dishes. I actually thought it was unfair because customers didn't have fund limit.
I've seen the original so there is lesser impact with the twist. It's overall good though. On the other hand, what felt off for me was the setting. I wonder why they didn't just make it pure China? the poor acting from the local actors and the on/off English lines were distracting.
I'm on ep1 and I'm wondering wouldn't it be easier to just sweep the anchovies towards the sea. Or is picking the anchovies just a made up task for the show?
this guy is such an all rounder and shows unlimited potential! and the best thing is, he seems to be doing it all while being his authentic self. hope he continues shining and stay away from trouble.
