I'm on ep34 and you're telling me YanZhiJing just showed up from hiding like that. So the whole case how he suoposedly sold fake jewelry (reason why the pavillion was auction) and the attempted assassination was just forgotten? Lol
I still think the first half of this show was perfect, the other half is so far okayish. It feels obvious that this is an unfinished novel, the rest of the story doesn't seem up to the same quality as the beginning.
I still believe this is bound for a happy ending for the lead couple. I think the angsty tragic ending would be for Shijiu and ZhengZiheng. I find their toxic relationship interesting. My bet is they will eventually realize they love each other but it will be too late, either both or one of them will die. I actually feel like ZhengZiHeng is more 2ml material than ZhangYinRan. I like his gray character, same with ShiJiu, they're not exactly evil but they have their own motives and not bound by any sort of moral compass.
I'll be honest, I found the recent episodes kinda boring. I couldn't get into the whole influencer contest festival thing. It felt like we hit the climax on ep18 and then it's filler episode time. I know this is necessary to set up her new life but I guess I kinda miss the 'previous season'. I felt more connected to the previous arc, it did made me tear up when she was fantasizing about her dead friends. Hope they pick up the pace and I hope I warm up to these new characters.
I just realized it's around the same period as the setting on The Long Ballad, with the ChangAn as the capital and the existence of the nomadic tribes. I suddenly missed Ashile Sun lol
I'm on episode 19 and that jade carver girl is kinda annoying plus stupid. No sense for danger at all and can't even read the room. Like the first thing you'd logically asked is what happened and where are the others, instead she's babbling about how her hands are healed and they'd be together forever. This story is good and complex so far, but I hate when they feel the need to add secondary flat characters like this.
Honestly , because of all the events so far , I'm about 80% sure this will have a HE. It's all about balance, there should be a payoff towards the end. Otherwise it would feel like a meaningless pursuit , will leave a bad aftertaste and ruin ratings. I personally don't give overall rating just for the ending, but I know many will. No matter how risklover the director is, I'm sure there will be voice of reason from the production team. It's the opposite of those dramas that start light and then ends in tragedy.
I hope they don't drag out the misunderstanding. Even from DW's pov I don't see why she should jump into conclusion that the tragedy was YZJ's fault. Also, she didn't see who shot the arrows at her, so that can't be the reason for misunderstanding. I would understand her confusion but hatred wouldn't be logical. Knowing what she knows about him, surely she'd figure there was a reason behind it all.
I wonder who the masked person. There are some guess that it's YueChi, he's also the only suspect I have atm. But on one of YZJ flashback that masked person was already there when he was tortured as a boy. YueChi seems a little too young to be the same person.
Ep18 was so heartbreaking. I knew some of them would 'go', I just didn't expect this much. Just one unnecessary scene (common in Cdramas) though when DuanWu spat blood, she got hit on the shoulder, no reason to vomit blood. It distracted me a bit from the feels.
I just want to say I appreciate the script on how they made the business dealings/schemes complex yet still understandable. Often on Business or Political dramas it's hard to follow what is happening and you just kinda turn off your brain and just roll with it. Atleast with this one, if you are reading the subs you can follow what is happening. It makes it enjoyable understanding their schemes.
2ML is really annoying and unrealistic with his ideals. Always yapping about justice and the law while he grew up privileged with no sense for real injustice. This is why I'll always prefer the anti-hero type ML.
I didn't read the novel but the tribute pearls are essentially a tax owed to the emperor that was embezzled:https://kisskh.at/749429-zhu-lian-yu-mu#comment-19337752

Can someone please remind me who KangMing is?
