She was to young and naive so she stayed true to her believes and as emperor said himself too upright as well - we could say if she didn't anger him - a lot of things wouldn't happen to her and Hua family but every cloud has its silver lining - so the family overcome the troubles and got stronger and country got a new young upright emperor. If old emperor would have a bit of good in his heart he would actually never punish Hua family so heavily - he was even jealous about GYX feelings toward her... yes, I kinda thinking that he might turn out to be a little better man at the end but even after being rescued by HZ and YX and hearing her saying she did it to save lives of countless people not just him (how could she say that!) he wanted to kill her...
