Jeez, isn’t Donnie Yen a bit old for this part ? I mean, the character is about 30, and he’s almost 60 And he’s twice the age of the female lead I mean, to cast himself in the movie he directs despite not looking like the part, what a narcissist…
now that my girl is confirmed, I need a summary of this book. Anyone? pretty please 🥺
From what I understood when I auto-translated the summary : In 1901, an Italian guy named Paolo Di Marco comes to China in hope to find his missing younger brother under the excuse of a cultural investigation. He’s accompanied by a Chinese interpret named Xie Pingyao, and made friends with the porter Shao Changlai, a boat expert surnamed Xia, and two boxers, the Sun brothers. Their journey follows the grand canal, from Hangzhou, to the northern direction. At the end of the journey, the italian guy dies and the current Chinese government (Qing dynasty) decides to suspend the water transportation . A hundred years later, Xie Pingyao’s descendant and the others’ reunite to discuss the cultural value of the Canal and together, they reunite the pieces of their ancestors’ story.
So Buarin sleeps with her « father »… wow… in all my years of lakorn, I’ve never seen something so messed up… I just wonder : is he really her birth father, and he not only physically abused her but also sexually, or was he her foster father or something like that, which would be more plausible to me and less… disgusting (but not much less : I mean, blood related or not, that’s still sexual abuse over his daughter) Then it makes me see her character in a whole new light : she seems much more pitiful to me (I mean, if even her dad treated her like a sexual toy, it’s no wonder she treats herself as such) but also I feel it’s a pity because I think the writing could have exploited that subject and the trauma in a better way, for example, not making it look like this is why she became an easy slut and now showing the traumas and scars… but the lakorn is far from being over, maybe that will evolve)
Just watched Esther in Khun Chai Ronnapee where she played a villain… Turns out she was great ! So I think she will do a good job. However, I’m not as hopeful for Green : I watched a few of her dramas, and I just don’t think she’s a very good actress. She has something off in her acting, like a lack of natural and something in her eyes that make it look like she’s always having an anxiety/madness crisis
I'm guessing the fact that they held British and American citizens hostage to extort money won't be mentioned...
if they were to mention this, I think the chinese government would have them disappear God knows where before the drama could even go through censorship review
