I just realised that if we don't count Hui and Jiwoong (who are born before 2000), Zhang Hao is the oldest of our top 9 even if he look one of the youngest I'm gonna cry that's so cute.
Today's elimination left me speechless, it's not even funny anymore. Why some of the worst skilled trainees are so high in ranking, while the polished ones got eliminated? Do people even have eyes and ears? Sob. Whatever. I'm gonna watch next episode only because we'll get Han Bin, Zhang Hao, Hui and Gunwook in one group performing tomboy and that, I need to see.
I just can't get over how biased Mnet is towards K-groups. I just finished ep 4 and there were so many incidents…
Honestly, from the first day, the whole K group vs G group was a blatantly way to favor Korean trainees. Mnet edit is so biased its embarrassing and they /knew/ that putting the two group against each other in the first challenges would have resulted in a win for the K group: let's be real, they try to put down international trainees every chance they get and the audience who get to do the live voting at the performance is mostly korean. What they did expect that would happen?
I always hated live voting with passion and while, yeah okay, getting to "choose" your group is nice, they should give the mentors the power to evaluate the performances and then maybe calculate the overall score with 60% masters and 40% live voting.
Not mean to be harsh, I'm genuinely curious, but why do you think rap isn't that relevant for kpop groups?I mean,…
Ohh I get what u mean. Yeah, even for me or you're gonna be exceptional good at rapping (and with this, I mean you also gotta be able write your own lyrics and arrange the music, cause if not what's the point) or else you're gonna have to be able to sing/dance (Haruto is one of my pick too ^^). After all, I go for skills, lol.
I really like Jiwoong but he shouldn't have gotten 257 votes just for showing his abs, and it made me sad that…
Sorry but I haven't watched the ep live and what do u mean that all the trainees are gonna get the bonus according to the overall result? Is this for real? My god that's practically cheating, it's like they just wanted to eliminated more international trainees as possible (which, is probably right).
Things I just wanna say after watching the episode:If my teammate said he cannot sing or dance or rap (those two…
Not mean to be harsh, I'm genuinely curious, but why do you think rap isn't that relevant for kpop groups? I mean, I can understand the vocal (why trying to be an idol if u can't even sing?), but I usually tend to gravitate towards group who also have a strong rap line.
(Not that I'm looking down on dance, I freaking love watching dancers and I admire them greatly because for me dancing is a form of art. But at the end of the day you need to sell music, so. The songs must be pleasing at the ears.)
Yeah, well, I get it, but still. It's just playing dirty and they already do that enough with the way they edit the whole thing. I can't help but feel sad and frustrated for the boys.
Gotta say tho, I hate the fact they relased all the performances just a day before the stop of the vote. Like, I definitely would have voted some of these boys to get them to survive the next round, if I knew they were this good! It's not fair, sob.
As usual I have no idea of what happen in the episode yet, but I just watched the performances on youtube. I'm waiting for the video without cuts and reactions, but for now these are my thoughts:
Edit: went to watch the performance without cuts and changed a thing or two (btw mnet edit is so biased that it's embarassing).
β Burn it Up K group definitely stronger on the vocals (damn, Park Gwan Young), but in term of overall performance I think G group was better. They were well balanced and for some reason I think they matched the vibe of the song more. Especially that blonde kid (Xuan Hao) and the two black haired rappers (Kei and Hyo, I think? Their part were goooood), they did good. I liked a lot the climax part of the orange haired vocalist also.
β Danger I'm sorry but this was almost painful for me to watch. I know the boys did their best and Danger is /not/ an easy song, but from the K group for me the only one who would get a pass would be Min Hyuk for his rap. Choi Jiho and Woo Seok vocals weren't bad, but idk this group really did not fit the song they choose. The G group vocals were unstable, but they managed to get some high notes and I was pleasantly surprised by Takuto rapping lmao. All in all, the stage was kinda weak, even if better than I expected (was really worried for this group after last episode lmao.)
β Back Door Okay these were the stages I was the most excited to see cause Back Door is my favorite skz's song. The G group was just a bit weak on vocals, but rap, dance, attitude and energy were all there! Ricky's stage presence is magnetic, he just fits this song so well. He just needed a bit more stability on the vocal part. The whole vibe was so good tho (I screamed a little at the ending). This seems to be a trend, but K group had more stable vocals again. Their performance was a lot more aggressive, where the G group had some sort of confident laid back style. I was so happy for Yoon Jong Woo cause the boy redeemed himself big time! He was so freaking good, he really showed what he can do! Han Yu Jin and Kim Min Seoung also really managed to shine. Love these kids to bits.
β Hot Sauce The G group was adorable not gonna lie, but everything else was kinda missing for me. Except for the rap, the first rapper was good. I don't mean to be harsh, but yeah... Not really impressed by the rest. K group had the energy: especially Park Jihoo, his dancing and his espressions were great! My eyes keep searching for him lol. And Prak Han Bin, that boy is a gem. I was already impressed with his rap from the ateez song they covered on the first episode, but he can sing well too! I'm keeping an eye out for him, he quite literally saved the vocals of the whole group.
β Love Me Right Mnet is a clown and they really wanted to get us worried over nothing. I think I still prefer Jay's vocal for this song, but Hui was amazing too (his high notes AAH also kinda love when he makes his voice rough and scratchy) and there's no room for discussion that K group's performance was overall better. I mean, don't even get me started on Sung Han Bin. Ya, that boy. Really deserve that first place on the top 9.
Do they always release the fancam some days before the episode airs? I kind of want to watch them but also I don't want to ruin my first impression of the whole performances.
My picks for now! Obv my choices may vary depending on the next episodes.
ALL ROUNDERS β Sung Han Bin β Keita β Zhang Hao
MAIN VOCALISTS β Hui β Jay β Matthew
MAIN DANCERS β Wang Zi Hao β Park Gun Woo
MAIN RAPPERS β Haruto
BONUS (trainees who I like a lot but i can't fit in the top 9): Yoon Jong Woo, Ricky, Park Han Bin, Kim Ji Woong, Han Yu Jin, Jeong I Chan, Yoo Seung Eon, Ma Jing Xian, Kim Gyu Vin.
I'm curios which boys would you all choose for the respective roles?
I'm hope that for the next challenge they'll mix the boys cause I want interactions. Come on, give me some bonding between the korean and the international trainees!!
