yes and no. he seems sociopathic but believes in rooting out evil and setting the kingdom in the right path. this is the mission he gave the leads before they died in the first life. for him that comes first above all else. he offered to marry her to rescue her from marrying the wrong man, but I believe it was more so that he can give her a way out rather than having romantic feelings for her. however, it's interesting that he said shou gu became "boring" since she married yantang. that first time, he resented that she seemed to give up on herself for a doomed man. he also said after he got the grand secretary position it was all "boring." in the end I think he did everything for her sake and once she was safe and living well away from him, court politics became boring as he puts it. but I wouldn't put him in a box of romance with dou zhao. he seems too complicated for that. if it were up to him they would be researching new methods of acupuncture lol
finally completed. this was a great series to close out the year with hope and lead us right into the holidays! the show is about family politics that become national affairs but I think the song han villain era was the weak part of the plot. however, I cared about how our leads survived this, and the writers and directors delivered satisfactorily. old man, don't try to swindle the little girl! let our little song family live in peace!
