i like both shows, the untamed has a special place in my heart bc it was the first c-drama that i actually finished…
TU is not the first cdrama I watched, but the first drama that got me rewatching soon after the first watch, and I usually moved on to other dramas after one watch, and have rewatched only just a handful 5-10 years later
Wow, so that's why I enjoyed Alchemy of Souls so much. The Untamed was my first ever Chinese drama and remains…
I had thought TU as the Asian version of GOT - on noble clans vying for power, good vs evil, magic, swords, zombies, kinships, friendships, rules of life..
“This article seeks to be spoiler-free” lmao it has an absolutely massive spoiler for the ending of AOS, I…
The article was meant for viewers who have watched AOS, but you are right, could have taken extra step to use spoiler tag, as the article can be for TU viewers to also watch AOS.
I will say that I started watching Asian series when somebody told me to watch The Untamed and I found it so boring…
Tbh, while I enjoy TU, I won’t recommend TU to new ancient costume Cdrama viewers, if not for AOS and the similarities and deja vu scenes to TU, as TU can be complex with the many names (birth/courtesy/title/ nickname) for each character and the sorcery element. 13 episodes is actually less than 10h as each episode is only 45 minutes, and it is towards the end of the story set up. In another 2-3 episodes, the story takes a turn as the plot thickens. The first third of the series will eventually stitch back to the whole plot. This is a late bloomer drama that eventually overwhelms viewers, thus the terrible ratings in its initial airing and the strong pick up as the series progressed.
Hmm, I watched both and I liked The Untamed much more. Even though AoS had interesting premise and better CGI…
Thank you! TU resonates with me and touches me ever so immensely. Every moment is part of the story, right from the very 1st episode and the long flashback from the boarding school episodes. But new viewers may find the initial episodes to be plotless, boring and confusing, which is such a pity.
I have seen both. C-drama tense to dragging too long.
Perhaps it's the different story telling styles. K-dramas tend to have flashback at the start of each episode, whereas C-dramas use the chronology style, so one may feel the lack of plot and action in the initial episodes.
I figured there were many similarities between the two and while I did love AoS, I think I love the Untamed more.…
While Wei Ying is often sassy and sunny, deep inside, he is actually very insecure and sensitive of his precarious situation in the Jiang Clan, and uses his silliness to hide his insecurities. His life journey is really heartwrenching.
I have yet to resonate with Naksu's turn from a cold and ruthless assassinator to a boisterous silly maid, just because she lost her powers trapped in Mudeok's body..
The relationship focus for The Untamed is that of found-family and deep friendship. The protagonist has complex dynamics with his found family and a friend-enemy relationship with his found brother Jiang Cheng and Lan Wang Ji (peer from another clan). And you will be in for an exhilarating emotional rollercoaster ride watching The Untamed!
