I also think we may be moving into a Cdrama wave in the western drama community, if their growing popularity in…
Yea censorship for cdramas has tightened with the Qing Lang campaign... While I would love to watch more Jdramas, there hasn't been a great deal of jdramas on Netflix sigh :(

Thank you! Jdramas need to be more accessible so that more can enjoy the good works. And you are so right, kdramas…
i have not watched both mangas to be able to comment for Squid Game. That said, i do see a number of other dramas having shades of some other dramas

Thanks for making an article like this. This is giving me all the recommendations for dramas to watch next year…
Thank you! Do give The Last Breakthrough a try - it's a heartwarming contemporary HK drama on docs without borders treating and helping needy folks. You might have already seen the leads (Nick Cheung, Raymond Lam, Leila Tong) for this drama in some of the movies :)

I'm totally with you on both: giving older dramas a little more love (that they so deserve) and an emerging cdrama wave globally. Though, i think due to Chinese censorship, kdramas will still reign this decade in terms of contents variety and global viewership

HEHE this makes me want to raid my mom's DVD collection of her HK dramas from the 80s! So did you also leave out…
Errr.. seems like the cdramas in the 2000s are not as highly ranked nor widely watched compared to the kdramas. But wait.. there's Fan Bing Bing's debut drama - Princess Pearl :)

Ça tombe à point! I was going through a big nostalgia of my old time. Remembered, back in the day, watching…
How times have changed, from VHS to VCD to DVD to streaming sites!
If you are looking for older HK dramas, you can try TVBAnywhere+ app :)

This takes me back to my school days, sooo nostalgic. 2000s k-dramas were great, its what got me hooked on them…
keke Full House was the first kdrama that i watched the entire series. i didnt watch as many Taiwanese dramas but watched more HK dramas in the 2000s.. Heart of Greed and its sequel, Forensic Heroes series :)

Hello, thank you so much for your well written article. I am surprised you do not include "Empress Ki", I thought…
Thank you! I have not watched Empress Ki but i have heard praises of this drama. I supposed as a drama that was first aired almost a decade ago in 2013, both the ratings and the popularity suffered compared to newer dramas which are more widely watched by newer viewers with more generous ratings.

It's my usual way of counting.. and yea, the results will be different if counted differently. Interestingly,…
When i filtered by 2000-2009, the five 2010 dramas are replaced by:
#06 Full House (2004)
#07 Hanazakari no Kimitachi e (2007)
#08 1 Litre no Namida (2005)
#09 Hana Yori Dango 2 (2007)
#10 My Girl (2005)
https://kisskh.at/search?adv=titles&ty=68&re=2000,2009&st=3&so=popular

These dramas are from the mid and later half of the decade (i.e. 2005-2009). I think it could be due to general higher ratings for newer dramas

90's and early 00's Classics like Koori No Sekai, Long Vacation, Hana Yori Dango, a Long Love Letter, Gokusen…
Hopefully these classics can be made available with English subtitles on streaming sites so that more can watch them
