omg this is truly a GEM! xianxia is my favorite genre and i’ve watched so many xianxia dramas (from highly rated to bad rated), so i didn’t expect anything when it comes to this short length drama. but this one surprised me with how beautiful their costumes, CGI, and god’s realms! they’re insanely beautiful like what you get from a high budget production!
what i loved the most is their BEAUTIFUL COSTUMES and attention to details for it. not just the leads who got a pretty costumes, but all side characters (like maids) also wore a good outfits! their costumes were always different and ON POINT! 😭 i even dare to say some costumes here are better than in Ancient Love Poetry (which this drama is my ultimate favorite for their settings, CGI and costumes).
the CGI here is also pretty decent especially for the portrayal of god’s realms. though i still found some things that could execute better, but for a short drama, it’s all forgiven.
you should watch it for: - main leads’ chemistry - beautiful costumes - pretty CGI - romantic scenes
rather than calling this a short drama, i feel like watching a full-length drama. it didn’t feel rushed and (almost) everything wrapped nicely. though there were things that left unanswered, which if they could be explained, i’ll give this a solid 10 for real.

i have dropped some recent dramas since they didn’t hold my interest through the halfway of the story, but this one? omg i didn’t even realize i already watched until eps 19 😭 so sad i didn’t watch this during the airing time.
i love mystery/detective/suspense drama and this one checked all the boxes! usually i don’t like drama with a lot of supporting characters, but surprisingly i did enjoy this drama and ALL characters including the villains.
is this one a perfect drama? nope, there are some flaws here and there. but i still enjoyed thoroughly because i loved the interesting cases and how they solved them. also it’s very characters driven! the relationship between the cast was really good and showed the growth along the journey.
i’m surprised they already started filming. ding yuxi is very booked this year. proud seeing him from having one drama a year to film 3 dramas in the last 8 months. and it’s just the first quarter of 2024. i hope next year will be his year!
Yang Yang literally only took one drama project each year and for the past few years he has been really carefully picking at his projects. i’m thrilled to see what’s his next project. hopefully another modern drama.

honestly story-wise there’s no similar drama like this one, Dilreba and Yang Yang’s chemistry and their love story-line really set the bar.
but if we’re talking about some dramas with great chemistry, main leads focused, green flag FL and ML, and no misunderstandings whatsoever, here’s my recommendation:

for costume drama, try A Familiar Stranger. the FL and ML are green flags and their chemistry is electrifying.
up until now, imo there’s no other pairing that can beat their chemistry and well-matched visuals. i can’t imagine this drama with another cast than them.
just finished my third rewatch and somehow this time it felt like my first time watching it. so many details that i didn’t notice before.
i really love how we didn’t have any cliches in this drama. they took the mature relationship to another level. this is what i need in a romance drama. they have all of them.
No side characters or even Love triangle cuz leads were always into each other and chemistry/kiss scenes are good…
oh, it’s always a bit unfortunate when i know the leads were into each other since pretty earlier but only started dating much later on 🥲 wanna see them in their dating era for a much longer time. anyways, thank you!
