i just finished this and the rating doesn’t give justice for this drama! such an underrated gem. i think the low rating is given by people who only watched a few episodes and decided to drop it. in that case, pacing of the drama is indeed a bit slow and if you don’t find any interest towards the characters or the unravel mystery, you’ll probably find this boring. so this one is literally up to personal taste.
for me, compared to some romantic-comedy dramas (especially recent ones), this one is surprisingly good and the story is well-written. it’s not extravagant or anything, but it’s clear the production put a lot of thoughts towards this drama, from the setting to each character’s background.
i saw some people complained about the height difference. at first, i was a bit bothered with that too, but along the way i found that the leads were cute together and actingwise both were great! so i guess how they expressed themselves around each other made up for it. also, i loved that although the FL is tiny, but she dressed up like her own age, knew what’s good on her so she didn’t appear “childish”.
in this drama, the FL and ML are likeable. both communicated with each other and always put honesty first. that’s really refreshing because i’m tired with unnecessary misunderstandings caused by lack of communication. the romance between them is sweet and fluffy, but they also have their spicy moments.
i think you meant Viu? it’s gonna be available there on march 8.
whoa, i didn’t know it’s airing on Viki too. thank you! :) it’s good to know there are 2 inter platforms now that will broadcast this drama. rarely happened when Youku also made this drama available for inter fans on their website.
omg, this is truly a gem! i loved it so much. this drama is like the lighter version of What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, with some fantasy elements and plot-twists.
ML and FL are likeable and they have such a great chemistry! despite being a rookie actors, they did fantastic job at portraying their characters. so looking forward to their future dramas!
this deserves a higher rating seriously. for a short length drama, this one surprisingly has a solid plot, setting, and acting. it was very delightful watching this drama and i loved the ending. it wasn’t rush and left me with a satisfying feeling.
ps. the FL’s visual looks a little bit like Song Zuer.
i tried to watch it but the first few episodes were kinda meh. from the FL trying to drug and strip the ML naked to the ML treating pregnant woman without so much care. i don’t know if it will get better and should i continue or nah 🥲
i’d give this 10 if only they didn’t ruin the last few episodes. what a lame writing. it’s like the writer…
although it’s a happy ending but it’s not satisfying at all imo. i rolled my eyes when suddenly the ML was about to get married with another woman and the FL decided to show up at their wedding day to stop them. why would the writer put the leads into that situation, seriously? after all the things they had been through?
the ML just took the chairman’s position and suddenly he was arranged to marry someone else? what would happen if the FL didn’t know about the wedding and she didn’t show up? would he still marry that other woman?
the ML’s character has been built so good, he was very attentive, caring, loving to the FL. he always put his heart on his sleeve. so why, in the crucial time, he agreed to marry someone else?
well, obviously blame the writer for ruining this supposed-to-be a hit drama. such a waste of potential.
the only thing that i love about this drama is the leads’ chemistry. their love is believable for most parts. still the ending could be SO MUCH better.
i’d give this 10 if only they didn’t ruin the last few episodes. what a lame writing. it’s like the writer decided to turn this into a mess just for the sake of drama, which actually is very unnecessary.
seriously, i loved this drama up until eps 17. i’ll rant about the ending below.
sweet, short, and to the point. no unnecessary drama. every characters are likeable (even the supposed to be villain). acting by the leads were good, although i felt like the ML’s visual was kinda different when he wore the glasses 😅 he looked much older with that. i’d like to blame the glasses’ model though.
this drama is not to be taking seriously and serves the purpose as just to pass the time when you have nothing to watch.
the drama is very to the point 😂 it’s short, fluffy, and cute! the acting by the leads were good, although there were times that i felt the ML’s acting was a little bit off.
i loved all the characters here, even the villains didn’t feel like a bad guy at all and i couldn’t even dislike them properly. i laughed several times thanks to the leads and some funny, silly supporting characters.
it’s a very light drama with 5 mins for each episode. if you need a break from a heavy drama, you can try this one to kill the time.
ps. the FL somehow looks a little bit like Zhao Liying, especially their eyes. her acting is good as well and her comedic timing is on point!
i was wondering if there are xianxia short length dramas out there when this popped up in my recommendation. for a low budget drama, this one surprisingly had a good settings, costumes, and decent CGI.
the trope is not new and nothing particular to remember. both leads had to go through three lives/tribulations in the mortal realm. i have mixed feelings about this one: - their first life was memorable and the story was good enough to keep me going. the romance between them was believable. - their second life was a mess. i’d like to blame with the writing. unlike their first life, there was no build-up to their love story and the romance wasn’t believable for me. i don’t believe with their love and it’s just so sad. - their third life happened in the last episode, and i won’t give any spoiler. but for me it was a nice surprise.
this drama revolved around the main leads and i didn’t remember much about the supporting characters, though there were some who i found annoying. regardless, this one is a good short escape, though it’s not rewatchable for me.
this one had a good start, got repetitive and a bit boring in the middle, and the story picked up again in the last few episodes. acting-wise both FL and ML did a really good job of portraying their characters. i love their chemistry and their visuals matched very well.
unlike some other short length dramas, all the actors in this one can act! from the leads to supporting characters, i enjoyed their acting throughout the series.
the only thing i’d like to complain is the bad subbing. it ruined my experience of watching this and i often needed to pause to understand what they actually talked about. seriously, MGTV never learns anything when it comes to their bad subbing and it has been YEARS now. they’ve never improved their subs although most of their dramas are available on YouTube for international fans.
I can't remember what episode but it was right before the last championship where they win the medals. Guo said…
YG is not pregnant. she told LYY that her period is late, so he went to buy testpack for her. later (in ep 28 if i remember correctly) YG said that the result is negative.
JY married to a widow and the kid is his wife’s biological son.
his acting career began in 2020 and i can’t believe that he’s still doing a mini series till now. tbh his acting skill is so much better than some actors who already got opportunity to star in a full length drama.
i really hope he gets a bigger project and more promotion for his series. some of his shows even are not available in any legal streaming platforms (like Viki, WeTV, etc) and that’s just so sad.
people who don’t watch short length series probably will never know this man exist and that’s just too saddening knowing this fine man is full of talent.
this feeling of wanting for Li Fei to get a proper drama is very nostalgic because it reminds me of Cheng Lei. when he played in A Familiar Stranger, i was hoping he could get a bigger project. it was very delightful to see he landed a role in My Journey To You as a second lead and his popularity has increased so much. after that, he got his first main lead role in a big budget production with Zhou Ye. it took him 4 years to get there.
so hopefully, Li Fei will have his time to shine brighten as actor as well because he deserves it so, so much. he has lots of potential to become the next big hit actor. he just needs an opportunity for that.
omg i loved He Xuan Lin in The Starry Love. i hope this one will turn out to be good and they (especially Li Fei) get more recognition from this drama. also the production better gives a good ending (not cliffhanger or worse, bad ending) for the cast. literally tired of watching some short length series which they started so well but went downhill till the end.
