It felt like a devil’s invitation: “Come with me.” Even though they gave him just one small scene, Xu Kai conveyed so much before he died. Then after she struck him with the Changxi sword, Mei Zhuyu’s calm, sincere demeanor returned — but it was downcast and resigned, accepting his fate. The evil infant overplayed his hand.
Ah, the sadness in Mei Zhuyu’s face makes you feel so deeply, knowing all that happened to him from the day he stepped into Chang’an and discovered he had desires. People can question his screentime, but they can never question the impact his characters always have on a drama. Even though the story is female-centric, in the end, you realize it’s really about Mei Zhuyu. His characters always follow a complete emotional arc.

Mei Zhu Yu looking back at Lady Wu is almost iconic. That faint turn of the mouth — less than a split second — is perfectly fitting for the calm and reserved Mei Zhuyu. Now that I understand his story, even the smallest of expression feels loaded with meaning. It holds a timeless, poignant stillness in my mind, similar to other characters he's played.
ABAY, he had a gaze there too, but it's so different, and held different meaning and emotions. Every character he portrays has its own gaze. The truly iconic ones are Gu Yanzhen and Bai Jue, even Yang Hua. Same actor, different gazes, different meaning, different emotions

Mei Zhuyu should have been the Cat Lord but on that night, he was missing fell into the river? so the former Cat Lord found her and passed on Cat Lord to her, and seal Evil infant inside her.

mei zhuyu posture is so impeccable, every time he is in the frame, I'm just in awe of it. seems like mei zhuyu is more personable, charming, and smiles more, but that's how the novel went too, later on, his personality did change, he was warmer, more approachable and socialized more, after marriage, but alone with wu zhen, he was especially that way once he got over his shyness. I can't get enough of close ups of mei zhuyu because the face is so expressive up close, no gestures, just simply expressive.
Liu Taizen has a very nice posture too. Whenever the camera pans to her, she's so tall and elegant. I think it's because she is so tall. Tall slender people with nice figures just look good.
oh didn't they switch it. I thought in the novel, wu zhen fell off a cliff when she was a little girl, so they gave that storyline to snake demon. so that's why snake demon is fully demon and has a human father. but wu zhen is half human and half demon because she didn't actually die I dn't think, she was near death when former cat lord revive her with his demon core or whatever it is that he transferred to her body. with snake demon, Tai had actually died when snake demon took over her body. but I thought int he novel, wu zhen fell off a cliff and actually died, i remmber she said she did die. novel and drama mixed it up, it's okay, it's just different storytelling, all fantasy anyway. just roll with it.
the snake blaming others for not ascending into a dragon, it's all their fault. what kind of tribulation when struck by lightning he is all smiles? that's not how it went in ALP, it was bloody. what does snake's ascension have anything to do with the story?
gosh one word can make a difference in meaning. earlier the translation was "her calamity," not it's "her tribulation." wu zhen that is.
xu kai's face is just pure handsomeness, divine handsomeness, his face and body was made for leading man in romance dramas, he looks so noble, like a prince.
