Okay, yeah that is very very weird. 5 seconds? It's not like that for me on Youku. I just checked. (or on Viki. And I just checked on Youku's YouTube too and it's the same version on all of these platforms for me) Black Moonlight instrumental for two whole minutes. then transitions to another instrumental. Before finishing with Boundary (the actual OST) when he's struggling to hold onto her. I can't explain why it's like that for you....
Yeah I’m not a big fan of the reedits esp when it’s not adding new content. The tower scene they totally stuff…
Oh that is really weird. Where are you watching it? I just watched it on Youku and Viki and it goes straight into "Let's be like this for 10,000 years" and then half way through that scene there is some BGM which then transitions to the instrumental version of "Black Moonlight" for about 2 minutes. It does transition to a different instrumental with female vocalisation when she's actually extracting and swapping the bone for her divine essence but it seems to be the same as the one I bootlegged the day it came out.
Yeah I’m not a big fan of the reedits esp when it’s not adding new content. The tower scene they totally stuff…
I really don't notice any difference between them. The original versions of these particular episodes (28, 34, 35 )that I have from the day they were released seem the same (same amount of flashbacks) as what's on Youku, Viki, netflix now... But I dunno, maybe i'm wrong and missing it. lol
Except for the weird annoying muting of the background music youku's youtube channel does to random scenes like the tower scene. and the torture scene where he's tied up in episode 34. but that's only on the youtube version.
Yeah I’m not a big fan of the reedits esp when it’s not adding new content. The tower scene they totally stuff…
The Tower scene in episode 28? What was the original ost/bgm? I had heard that it changed but I have a screen capture of that episode from the day after it dropped and the bgm is the same as what's on Viki and Youku now.
I know the version on youtube sometimes have parts of the bgm have been weirdly turned down or muted . But the official version on Youku/Viki/Netflix/ or bootlegged versions on other websites like DramaCool etc are still the same.
The down side of the new edited is too much flashbacks. I think one of the best scenes of TTJ got ruined. Ep 34…
Hmm, that's interesting. I have a version of episode 34 that I screen captured the day it dropped. To make edits. So I know it's the original version. I just checked the version on Viki (which also seems to have the original edits of episodes) and on Youku. I don't see any difference between them for this particular episode. Same with episode 35.
I have noticed a slight ost/bgm difference at the end of episode 29 though. At the nether river. But that's one of the few i've picked up on.
hi everyone is there any bromance on it ? and the romance is strong or not ?
There are a few nice instances of friendship or comraderie between certain male characters but not a lot, and I suspect not the kind of bromance you're referring too. The romance is intense, certainly not always a "nice fluffy romance" but very intense. Not really any love triangles either.
The drama was filmed long before LFBAD aired and at that point no one could have guaranteed which drama would…
That's true. But then again, I don't feel Dongfang Qingcang, as Moon Supreme, was ever presented as being as evil as TTJ/Devil God was. To the Immortal/fairy realm he is, but to us an audience - do we ever actually see him perpetrate anything that bad? He mainly just wants to get his 10,000 soldiers released...
But I don't disagree with you. I don't necessarily think this theory has much to do with it, as they did tone down TTJ's evilness specifically because having a fully "bad" ML is kind of frowned upon.
Still, there are a lot of things that get cut in dramas due to censorship that never makes sense to me. Why did this thing get cut in one drama, but it's okay in another? It happens all the time. So who knows.... I guess it doesn't really matter at this point though. lol
The drama was filmed long before LFBAD aired and at that point no one could have guaranteed which drama would…
Yes, really. That was the original screenplay ending. So yeah, there is a possibility they filmed it as there are lots of other things they filmed that ended up cut. However, we'll never know for sure.
For whatever reason, they felt the open ending was better suited for the tone of the drama. (I doubt Bai Lu and LYX had much say in that part despite BL being a fan of BE and OE) Not to mention this isn't the first open ending of this kind from Youku. Someone there must like them.
There are also some questions about censorship. I know characters that are deemed as being evil or bad are not usually allowed to get happy endings. So maybe that's another reason why they went for the open ending. But I'm not sure about that one in this instance. They kind of toed the line when it comes to TTJ being evil. (unlike the novel) Despite some deeds one could consider "bad" I never saw him as pure evil and he did sacrifice himself to save everyone.
As i've already said though, I still feel the implications are the same whether we actually get to see it or not. Sad but hopeful OE for now. Future HE.
The drama was filmed long before LFBAD aired and at that point no one could have guaranteed which drama would…
I think when it comes to other possible endings, some people are referring to the final ending of the original screenplay and not necessarily the novel.
The original screenplay had pretty much the same exact scene at the Mohe River with Susu telling A Mi about the Jing and Sheng kingdoms and about Ming Ye and Sang jiu etc. Except at the end, they see a reflection in the water. turn around and see a man in white. (A reborn TTJ I assume)
So it is possible that they did film this version of the ending before deciding definitively on the more open ending with him in the heart-guarding scale. But even if they did film it, I don't think we'd ever see it.
Seeing as they covered 95% of the book. I don't know if they would even have enough content for a second season…
I think the 18 cut episode thing has kind of been debunked. The original script that I read had 40 episodes - and though they did increase the episodes because the script was so dense - I don't think they cut 18 episodes out. There is a thread on the TTEOTM board on reddit that explains it far better than I ever could.
Don't get me wrong there was a lot that was cut out and it is noticeable, especially in that last arc, but not 18 episodes worth of content, I don't think.
Nope, they are totally dead, deader than dead ☹☹☹MY: Gods can't be reborn.SJ: She was already dead in the…
Yeah. and I would say when she was talking to Tantai Zimi she was just reinforcing the idea that TTJ was as noble, brave, and loving/self-sacrificing as Ming Ye was. (or in this case, that Ming Ye was as awesome as her dad haha) Not necessarily that he was a literal God in the way Ming Ye was. Or at least that's not how I interpreted it.
Also note that Ming Ye was only a sliver of consciousness. After 10,000 years, most of which was dormant, he was just a voice. He had no form. Though we are shown visions of him, we never actually see him in the HGS the way we do TTJ. (both in episode 37 and again in episode 40) And it definitely looks like TTJ has cultivated some kind of form after 500 years.
But again, just my interpretation. Lots of other valid ones out there too.
Nope, they are totally dead, deader than dead ☹☹☹MY: Gods can't be reborn.SJ: She was already dead in the…
We don't actually know if he died as a "True God". When Ming Ye talked about that I think he was referring to the "True Gods", like the ones who ended up falling in the war 10,000 years earlier (Chu Huang, Ji Ze etc) There is a difference between being the devil god, being an immortal (like all the others in the immortal sects) and being a "true god" When Li Susu ascends in the final episode, she becomes the only "True God" in the universe. Even Tantai Jin refers to her as being the only god left. So, even though he was attained a godly amount of power, it doesn't necessarily mean he's reached that level of ascension yet. It's never explicitly stated that he had. not in the drama, not in the script and not in the special edition episode.
But, say he did ascend to that level. The original script for the drama also had the scene where Ming Ye talks about Gods not having souls and not being able to reincarnate, and yet in the final scene of the script we still see the "man in white" aka reborn TTJ reunited with Susu and A Mi at the Mohe River. So I don't see why it would be any different in the drama. There might also be a difference between reincarnating as in being reborn into a new life with new memories, and cultivating enough that you can re-create a new body for yourself. (I would say both are options in terms of the drama)
In the novel, it is the tiger demon that preserves part of his soul, and in the drama it is the heart-guarding scale, both serving the same purpose narratively. Although I would say the heart-guarding scale works better in the drama because of it's links with Ming Ye. Regardless some part of him did survive. They left it more open ended so that you can decide what happens (Intentionally vague as the scriptwriter themselves said)
then there is the fact that Youku released video of LYX and Bai Lu writing letters as their characters. Li Susu's talks about it being her turn to search for him, how when she finds him he can't lie to her again, and asking him not to make her wait too long. Through all of this they show footage of Susu looking down at the heart-guarding scale and TTJ inside of it. They themselves linked the idea of him returning with part of him in the scale.
Now obviously, it's open ended so people can interpret it how they want, but I do feel the implications are there for those who'd prefer him come back. That's why there does seem to be a hopeful vibe to that final moment, I think...
Seeing as they covered 95% of the book. I don't know if they would even have enough content for a second season (unless they make up entirely new stories) The only thing they didn't cover was the finale part of the epilogue. I would absolutely love to see a special episode where they are reunited like they are in the novel, but I highly doubt this will happen now. We have far more chance of seeing Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu reunite again for a third drama than we do of seeing a second season/special episode of TTEOTM.
deleted scenes.... maybe. There's a small possibility. But I doubt it. it's possible that some of what was cut may have been cut due to censorship, in which case, we are unlikely to ever see it. Makes me sad. I would also love an extended version of this drama but I don't have any expectations for it.
Can someone tell me the difference between Netflix version and Youku version?
From what I can tell, I haven't noticed anything different between them. if there are, it's minor differences. Some of the re-edits that Youku did after the initial broadcast are the same as on the Netflix version. Viki, however still seems to have the original edits.
When do you think that Susu actually fell for TTJ?
I don't think it happened in one single moment, but gradually. I think she did develop feelings as far back as when they were at Ye Mansion.( or an attraction at the least). But fell in love during the Jing arc, when TTJ was emperor. By the time of the water festival, when they did the ritualistic dance between The Devil God and The Goddess, she was definitely in love with him, I think.
Hi my beautiful and handsome clownies. Hw r you doing? I think it's time to watch TTEOTM now. I'm still contemplating…
Considering it looks like Immortality is shelved indefinitely, I would just watch TTEOTM. it's worth it. LYX is amazing in it. Maybe Immortality will be released at a later date (Years from now probably) but not anytime soon if the new censorship laws are anything to go by.
SPOILER FOR ENDINGwhat do you think about the ending? Will it be like it is, he'll just be a speck of a soul in…
They left it up to interpretation and left it so the audience can decide what it means. But I definitely believe they were implying he could return one day. He believed there was no chance, and so his death was a true self-sacrifice. But part of him did survive regardless. I believe it was the self-sacrifice that lead to the heart-guarding scale preserving part of him. (perhaps Ming Ye knew this would happen. ) Not to mention after reading the screenplay, there was a scene where TTJ used the heart-guarding scale to create a shield that protected everyone from the all-in-distress way. Perhaps this was cut, but it would have explained why/how the scale ended up protecting part of him too. Ming Ye was merely a sliver of consciousness, a voice. 10,000 years and he had been dormant most of that time and had no form. TTJ has cultivated some kind of form in there after 500 years.
Youku also released a video of LYX and Bai Lu writing letters as their characters. In Li Susu's she mentions that he searched the Nether River for her for 500 years and now it's her turn to search for him. That when she finds him, he mustn't lie to her again. And asking him not to make her wait too long. During this they used the footage of Li Susu looking down at the heart-guarding scale and TTJ cultivating inside. So they themselves have linked the idea of him returning to part of him being in the heart-guarding scale. Which kind of validates that as an interpretation I think. The original screenplay actually had Susu and A Mi meet a man in white (Reborn TTJ we can assume) at the banks of the River. They changed this for a more sad/bittersweet open ending but again I think this does validate it somewhat.
