I agree with some posters that the drama is not perfect, too much time spent on the hair salon plot. But it had great acting and a great mystery. I regret the mad woman path as the villain, I would have prefered something more sophisticated. But oh, well. At least, there was a happy ending.

I think the writers and producers really wanted to follow the novel, which is really about parallel worlds, right? I say that because in the last scene, the FL talks about having a dream within a dream, about living different lives and about crossroads and choices.

I have read that a theory about parallel worlds is that they are created everytime we are at a crossroads. I think that's what the FL was talking about. In her dream, she chose choice A instead of choice B which led to leaving the ML and when she returns, he is married to someone else.

In the end, the writers threw that discussion between the ML and FL and that's how I understood that it would have been their preference to follow the novel but censorship prevented that. At least, the Lighthouse project was a better explanation than in other dramas where it's REALLY a dream or the FL is in a coma or she traveled into a book or movie.

It's strange that censorship doesn't apply to novels since there are lots of them about time-travels, for example. Or parallel worlds.

I'd like to ask, why is everyone so against age gap? I mean, it reflects real life, after all. My father was 11 years older than my mother and, well, their marriage was successful, they were married for 20 years. She got sick and my father was there for her for the last 8 years of her life. He was older, but my mother was the first to pass away.

Love is love, after all. People don't choose who they fall in love with, men can fall in love with men, women with women, older women with younger men and vice versa.

We can only suppose. I like to believe that he was worried about his son's mental health after losing his mother and seeing his friend dying and thought that the FL was a bad influence on his son (also it could be because she was poor and he didn't want his son to date a poor girl) and that's why he took his son to the Lighthouse project.

For the FL, maybe he is involved in erasing her memories of the FL. Or he could be innocent. After all, she had been absent from the ML's life for 6 years, no contact at all so he could have had nothing to do with that.

Wait and see, there are still 4 episodes and we saw the ML's father in episode 26, he is also in a future episode so he obviously has a role to play.

Holy guacamole, episode 26 was dark! Jiang Bo's mother is a monster who drove her son to insanity. She killed her second husband but accused her adopted son, who then spent years in a psychiatric institute, filled with drugs which damaged his brain. He was completly destroyed mentally and psychologically by her.

He tried to run away from her, and do what he loved but she tracked him down and blackmailed him into leaving the job he adored. She really killed his spirit. He tried to escape her again but her hold was too strong.

Damn, I didn't expect to feel such pity for him.

Also what a twist about Noah. So he's dead. Or is he? I mean, he died 5 years ago. But the FL was in the capsule game a few months ago and she met Mr Xu there. How? I wonder... what if Noah knew what FX was going to do and he tried to leave with his projects and faked his death? I know, DNA test but who knows what really happened there. Maybe it was all organized, including the DNA test on an already dead body.

He could have had an accomplice who would have certified that the dead body was Noah and then hacked the DNA test company to switch the results. I know, it's complicated but hey, it's Derailment, this drama is complicated.

After all this time about searching for Mr Xu/Noah and never meeting him, I feel cheated so I hope for another twist.

If he is still alive and in hiding, maybe he is hacking the Lighthouse system and that's why the FL knew him in the VR game and that's him who saved her by organising her breaking out from the capsule, the VR game and the building.

Well, for the ML, he apparently lost his mother, had a bad relationship with his father, left home as a teen, saw his friend died under his eyes. That's already a lot for a teenager to go through.

I think the father pushed the FL away because she is a nobody. She is from a poor family, while the ML is from a wealthy family. It might be enough for the ML's father to kick her out of his son's life, by telling her that she isn't worthy or that she is the cause of all the ML's problems (wrong of course).

The FL has proved recently that she would leave the ML to protect him, maybe that's what she already did in the past. Maybe she listened to his father and that it would be better if she disappeared from his life.

But it pushed the ML even further into his depression to lose her after losing his mother and his best friend.

Just a theory, of course.

I think that Jiang Bo will rebel against his mother and help save the FL. And after that, they'll probably work together or open their own make up company.

If you continue watching, you'll understand why it's important for her to develop a passion and to have a career.

To have control over him? To have him obeying her? maybe that's why he doesn't have the career he wants to have (as we saw in his discussion with that guy that the FL heard), in the make up industry.

His assitants have all gone and made a name for themselves while he is stuck teaching, while despite being recognized as a genius.

Maybe it's because his mother has a hold on him, somehow and the ML discovered that she owns some magazine and a make up company. That way, she has control over this industry and can prevent her son from doing what he wants in the make up world or from being hired by other brands, and if he wants to have a job, he has to work for his mother.

The ML was also part of the experiment and he hasn't gone insane. So I think that it's more about what they do with their lives post-Lighthouse project, if they manage to find something to love or to hold onto. The FL has this passion for make up, and the ML had his job and his investigation about his friend, solving his disappearance.

I think knowing the truth about Mr Xu would have driven him insane, if the FL hadn't been present in his life. But she is here, he loves her, she loves him so together, they will overcome the truth and build the life they want.

The other subjects might not have had anything, or anyone to hold onto and the memories of those two lives could have driven them insane.

Some people are angry because it's not, so far, a romantic drama with sci-fi elements, but more a sci-fi/thriller drama with romantic elements. With the show also putting an emphasis on the FL's personal and professional developpment.

For me, it's good. But it's subjective, some people would prefer it to be heavier on the romance, other heavier on the sci-fi/thriller part. What people seem to agree on is that there's too much of the hair saloon/make up plot but then the show IS about the FL and how she rediscovers herself and takes her life in hand by learning and doing what she loves.

So it's not just a one genre drama.

Yeah, it was a remake. Funnily, I tried the taiwnese version first and couldn't get into it. I tried the chinese version and loved it. It's subjective, in the end.

For the time travel, I'm starting to wonder if censorship is starting to accept time travel dramas if they don't involve traveling too far back in the past. In "Love in time", it was just 4 months in the past, so maybe that's why.

Hmm, so there's more to Jiang Bo's attitude. His mother is quite something and he was such a sweet young boy, starting his make up artist career, before his mother intervened. I suppose he developped this tough exterior attitude as a defense mechanism against his mother. I think that in the end, he'll help the FL against his mother.

This episode clearly shows, IMO, that they don't have a great relationship, that she is violent, stiffling her son and I think that when he turns against her, it won't be a surprise to viewers thanks to this episode. I wonder if he was even a participant (against his will) in this Lighthouse project, to turn him from a beta male into an alpha male, like his mother wanted? Just a theory.

I was surprised that the drama "Love in time", was really about time travel, in the end. I fully expected it to be a dream or a book written by the FL but no, it was about time travel. But time travel 4 months in the past. It's a bit complicated but I really loved this drama.

Maybe because it was about an alien time traveling and not a human? And also because the time traveling was just a few years before, not centuries before?

That would be one hell of a twist! I had my doubts about him early on in the show, thinking "no one is THAT nice", but then I thought, no, he is friend with the ML, forget about that, he is just a nice guy.

If it's true, damn, sometimes, I should trust my instincts. And apply that in RL.

I think Mr Xu is Noah's avatar. Noah exists and was working on some kind of experiments. It's possible that Noah has an avatar inside the VR to contact the subjects

So apparently, after witnessing his friend's death, the ML had a nervous breakdown and his father probably tried everything to help him, therapy, shrinks and since none of this worked, he tried this revolutionary project, the Lighthouse one.

Since it was in its early stage, it wasn't perfect and the ML came out of his pod with a corrupted memory of his past: his friend hadn't died but had gone missing. Well I suppose corrupted, maybe the goal of the experiment was to completly erase all his memories of his friends but it didn't take.

Mr Xu is either the creator of the program or the AI behind the program.

What's interesting is that while other subjects turned out crazy within a year, 6 years later and the ML is still sane. Obsessional about solving Mr Xu's disappearance but not insane.

I knew Jiang Bo had been forced to hire the FL, he really feels like he doesn't want her around but apparently the short haired woman is his mother? And she asked him to hire her?

Who was she talking on the phone with, Mr Xu or the ML's father?

I was wary of him since the beginning. Maybe because I had seen the actor in another drama and he was the ML then so I thought for sure that the actor wouldn't be wasted for a guest-spot on Derailment. I was right.

I just want to post how amazed I am by the actress, those last two episodes especially. I totally buy that she was slowly going insane, like BY and that only the ML can prevent her from losing it. Her repeating "I'm not her, I'm not her", how she moved her body, her eyes, everything, honestly, I'm in awe.

I am used to watch Cdramas and Kdramas, I have favorite actors and actresses but it's the first time where I think I'm watching someone on such a high level that her future is going to be international, not just national or regional.

The movie mentioned is probably "Matrix", because she mentioned people in pods and I just rewatched the 4 movies last week and they are definitely in pods, thinking their lives there are real.

The characters in Inception are not in pods, if I remember well.
