Sadly, I don't think there is a cdrama out there that comes close to FOF but I would still give you some recommendations from my faves.

1. Love & Redemption
- a drama that is a bit close to FOF
- wuxia & xianxia genre with mythical creatures too
- cinematography is on the lighter side
- friendship journey, ML shares tragic and sad life like ZYZ, there is a bit of bromance towards the end between FL's past life and the villain of the drama (you'd get it when you watch).
- this one has a bit more romance and a kissing scene between ML & FL

2. Til The End of The Moon
- no bromance
- wuxia & xianxia genre
- ML shares same tragic fate as ZYZ

3. My Journey to You
- a bit of bl/gl too
- wuxia and same cinematography as it is directed by GJM
- the fight scenes here is really good too, FL is a spy

I haven't watch these dramas yet, but a friend of mine who is also into BL suggested these two:
The Untamed & Word of Honor.

he dreamt of being a cook and didn't want to be just a mountain god in the wilderness, he was just a lonely person who found comfort in cooking then he met group of friends who he cherished most, then the director/scriptwriter decided to kill him and let him die in loneliness...he never got to see or reunite with Bai Jiu ever again 💔 the flashbacks rubbing salt to our wounds...they def did him dirty 🤧

From what I understood, they'll start with a marriage contract whilst hating each other, but the FL will face a great ordeal in her life which is related to her fate, hence bringing her to join hands with ML and in the process of doing so they both gradually fall for each other ; the enemies to lovers trope. However, the latter paragraphs of the synopsis kinda hints for a tragic event.

Yeah it's really intriguing and I wonder if anyone read the novel, I might search for it and take a peek hehe

such an unexpected pairing, the synopsis of the plot sounds interesting...definitely looking forward to seeing Chen Zheyuan in this drama 🤍
