I knew something was definitely wrong with Wen Xiao ever since they had succeeded restoring the wilderness, her chest pain then was so unusual since the Baize Token wasn't broken and the fact that it was suppose to make her physical condition better, which in the first place is the reason why she had constantly been searching for it. Aside from fulfilling her responsibilities, her life depended on the token too. Helping Wen Xiao find the Baize Token is actually one of the reasons why Zhao Yuanzhou went to the demon hunting bureau, because aside from wanting to die, he knew about Wen Xiao's weak condition. The way fate really played the both of them, from foreshadowing their future with all their encounters with the demons with tragic background stories about love, to them actually experiencing it now themselves.
The whole conversation they had in the bridge is so bittersweet. I never expected that the tearing up of the contract would be in such a sad moment. Zhao Yuanzhou saying how the pain was still there in his heart even if the contract had been torn already was so devastating to hear, Wen Xiao was the reason why he started to have a will to live again, she was also the reason why he felt loved and not alone. He would surely do everything in his power to defy fate just to save Wen Xiao. No wonder all the previous Baize Goddesses always ended up dying, it was because it was only part of their fate. Wen Xiao truly proved to herself to be the Baize Goddess, she doesn't want to die and felt sad when she learned the truth but she calmly accepted her fate if it meant to save the world. Her heart is so pure and filled with kindness, but what makes her standout even more is her strong-will. Both her and Zhao Yuanzhou really make the "sacrificial lamb for the world" couple.
The drinking scene between Zhou Yichen and Zhao Yuanzhou is actually a significant scene, it's a closing of the past and welcoming of the future, which is their new formed brotherhood. I am so glad they had managed to successfully removed the ever-burning wood, Zhao Yuanzhou is so smart to have been able to think of such method but seriously can he stop putting his life on the line like he is a cat with nine lives. I doubt he would stop. Since the ever-burning wood has been removed from his body, I guess we can now say that there is no reason for him to get killed by Zhou Yichen, as the only reason he was supposed to die in the first place was because of the uncontrollable malicious energy in his body which was obviously caused by the ever-burning wood. So, at some point his fate managed to change somehow and might turn out to just be a false alarm and fangs of fortune like what Yinglong had said.
Also, Zhou Yichen deserves an award for being so smart, instead of going after Ao Yin who had already stolen the antidote. His swift decision to kill the defenseless Wen Zongyu is such a powerful move. I never expected I would be tearing up for Li Lun who is already facing the brink of his death, when he spoke of his regret, even Ying Lei felt for him. Regret is really one of the worst things you can have in life. If only he didn't went on a blind range, maybe his life would have turned out the way he wanted it to be. All he ever wanted was to be able to feel a sense of belonging but in his heart, he never found it. His hatred definitely made him forget that he did belong and he wasn't lonely before because he had a friend like Zhao Yuanzhou. Ao Yin is another example of a selfless lover. I can't wait to see Li Lun and Zhao Yuanzhou's reunion in the next episode.
