I love the portrayal of the heartfelt conversation between Zhu Yan and Zhou Yichen which showed how strong their brotherhood had grown. Zhu Yan's uplifting words about self-acceptance and how they are now a family who would always be with each other regardless of their differences were so meaningful. Zhu Yan had always been such a wise character. If Zhou Yichen is meant to be the roof that shelters and gives them a home, then Zhu Yan is definitely the night lamp post who gives them light amidst the darkness.
Zhou Yichen selflessly sacrificing himself for everyone's' sake and even in the midst of being frozen, for once he never forgot about Bai Jiu and his wish to save him. Pei Sijing who constantly shot arrows towards the wind despite her efforts being left in vain and to think she was usually the most composed one among them, yet she expressed her sadness and desperation to save Zhou Yichen right at that moment. Wen Xiao who is also desperate, screaming for one after another. As if the pain wasn't enough, they decided to add Zhu Yan who used all his might to fight against the cold harsh wind, the slow steady but very determined steps he took with him constantly expressing how he should be the one to die instead of Zhou Yichen was too hard to watch. They all really mean a lot to each other.
This isn't even the final episode, yet the last scene left such a remarkable impression for how outstanding it was. It's an absolute solid 10/10 for me. This is what happens when you are given a good script and actors who are capable of pouring their heart out so it resonates with the audience deeply.
ngl that scene made me laugh and interrupted my emotional feelings because the transition was too abrupt it turned funny

hate to break it to you but no signs of HE...but I hope you do give this one a try because even if it will be a SE, the emotional journey of the demon hunting team in the storyline makes it all worth watching!
Which is why Pei Si Jing told him: "Heng is Heng", "you can never be replaced", "with you fighting by my side, I can protect others better". So, even if Pei Si Heng is now just a puppet, Pei Si Jing will always regard him as her brother and nothing will change that fact for her. Her last line is also a way of comforting him about his condition.
Upon hearing his sisters words he did feel a bit relieved, since he can now be less of a burden and is able to protect her, however he can't help but miss the feeling of having someone take care and worry about him like how Pei Si Jing is currently with Bai Jiu. He misses his life when he was just Pei Si Jing's brother and not a puppet. Hence, the evident sadness in his face even if he said he was happy.
When he uttered the word 'but' right after saying he can now be his sisters armor indicated how he wanted to tell her his true feelings but decided to stop himself, because he knows it will make her sad once she finds out that he feels regretful. As previously, the reason why his sister managed to cope is when Pei Si Heng expressed how being a puppet allowed him to accompany his sister every night and he doesn't seem to regret it then. But the truth is, he does.
well, they never had time to do that too because their problems keep piling up π₯²
Wen Xiao slowly developed romantic feelings for Zhu Yan when she found out that he was the masked man whom she had a crush on during the time when she was just her master's apprentice. Her feelings for him continued to grow stronger as she interacted with him more throughout their journey, including when she found out about his dark past, which is why she was so determined and willing to suffer 300 years inside the sundial just to save him because she already have strong feelings for him ; she already loves him. It's the same case for Zhu Yan, he started to develop romantic feelings for Wen Xiao during their conversation that night at Ran Yi's place when he first felt the chest pain as he violated their contract. The scene of him dreaming about a peaceful and carefree life as a human with Wen Xiao indicated he is already so in love with her. Thus, they are already in love with each other ; their romance had already formed, it is just that the contract hinders them from having intimate skinship, but it had nothing to do with their love for each other.
