The reason why I anticipated and decided to watch this drama is because I really loved MJTY. It's one of my faves. It also has to do with my preferences, I like dramas that are dark and gloomy with a kick of angst apart from that the style of costumes to cinematic aesthetics were something I really liked too. So, FOF really spoke to me haha but didn't expect to be this so attached to this drama. He really ate when it comes to details. If only he wasn't such a problematic director, I would've been a fan.

Now I am understanding the meaning behind the native title " 大梦归离" even more.

" 大: Big 梦: Dream 归: Return 离: Depart"

The way I am currently interpreting this title has more to do with Zhao Yuan Zhou's life. He is a truly tragic character who no longer has any will to live, the life he used to live has turned into a long lost dream that he buried deeply into his heart. His dream returns in his heart only for it to fleet away because of his fate. Like it's having that dream you once lost ignite your heart only for it to be taken away without ever having to fully be able to grasp it.

I thought the saddest and most heartbreaking moment of Zhao Yuan Zhou for me would be when we fully got to learn about his tragic past, but damn it turns out the most heartbreaking and purely tragic moment for me is when he was unconscious and seems to be dreaming, his inner self and true feelings which he had long suppressed and constantly cave away from turns out to be this dream, this desire, this yearning to live a peaceful and carefree life and nothing hurts more than knowing what is inside his heart. I don't think the word 'pain' itself is even enough to describe how much pain I felt for him as a character.

Neo's eye expressions had to make it excruciatingly even more heartbreaking for me. I cried so much that even the comedic scenes up to the end were not enough to make me smile or laugh. I really miss how the comedic scenes would make me laugh during earlier episodes, now it just gives me pure sadness.

It seems that the past stories of all the demons so far are all interconnected towards Zhao Yuan Zhou and Wen Xiao's fate.

Miss Qi & Ran Yi - the yearning for freedom
Cheng Huang & Original Baize Goddess - the yearning to live longer with a loved one
Fei & Qing Geng - the yearning for a peaceful and carefree life

All of these boils down to Zhao Yuan Zhou and Wen Xiao's love story. A foreshadowing and tale which seems that only one of them will only be able to tell the world about. Also, I don't think I will ever hear the song "Zhou Yuan's youth" the same way ever again without this scene popping into my head.

I am hoping too and that they bring back that 2 eps per day sched because 1 ep per day kills it for me I can't stand the wait 🥲

cdrama directors really chose violence and decided to drop all these cdramas almost all at the same time... okay ofc am def gonna watch this even if am still watching 3 to 4 other dramas 😭😭😭 but am so glad it is finally here!!
