Pretty much my take

I have very specific likes in some ways so I rather get some spoilers than get into something I'm not going to like, but it's a trade off.

I think it's because this was explicitly advertised as a toxic story and the comment section is filled with warnings, so people that don't like this kinds of stories knew to stay away in the first place.

That's really weird that the novel wouldn't explain why, it's kind of important. Using the context of what we know about the character my head canon will be that he was disgusted by people.

What explanation does the novel give to why FX was a virgin? Was he disgusted by people? When he first said it was his first time I thought he was lying, but novel readers said it's true, also that he was homophobic, but he had plenty of women to choose from, so why was he never with anyone? I hope the novel explained.

I can tell you if you want, but there's not much to tell. The disappointment with the second couple is their lack of development rather than it ending badly per se.

Yes, that's something that some people have a hard time understanding even when they kind of explain it in the series if you pay attention to the dialogue because it's so different from the real world. The least psychologically affected one after what happened was Hua Yong, but even his plans were somewhat ruined by it. He has kind of a highly romanticized idea of how things should go between him and Sheng and that was not it. I would say they all had a horrible omegaverse pheromone induced accident.

I don't know what I would have thought of Desire if I wasn't familiar with omegaverse, but to those of us that have been reading the genre for years it was an impossible dream come true.

Thank you, I've seen a couple of those. A pretty toxic one airing right now is To my shore, it's pretty interesting. A classic toxic one that I loved is Tharntype, people love to shit on it nowadays but it was really popular for a reason. Other toxic ones that I liked but not as much in order of preference are: My stand in, Love mechanics and Theory of love.

Probably a mix of both. But he was going along with SL just fine until he became interested in FX.

If you’re only interested in the second couple I don’t recommend you watch, the focus of this story are the main leads and they have the most satisfying arc.

It’s hard to explain about the non-con if you’re unfamiliar with omegaverse. This world is not like our world where SA is always a voluntary bad choice people make. Both couples had non-consensual sex, but none of the four wanted that to happen, not even manipulative Hua Yong.
