Lee Do Hyun at it again! He NEVER fails to disappoint with his acting. The cast is phenomenal and I'm in love with the story. I've watched quiet a few of LDH's dramas and he always captures my attention. This is giving me the glory and 18 again vibes mixed together and I'm all for it. Can we ALL agree that episode 3 "if you're too full.." scene broke us all? 😠I thought he didn't want to eat because he wanted gimbap and was being picky but man was I not emotionally ready for that. I have to admit at first I was skeptical about the story but I knew deep down that LDH never disappoints with his acting so I watched due to the amazing cast and I'm so glad I did.
At first I was thrown off with LDH playing a bad character since he's always playing goofy, sweet characters but he's shown he can play more dark, serious characters like in the Glory, so seeing him widden his range a little is fresh but man am I glad he's still cute 🥰. For those still apprehensive to watch, please do. It's a bit of a slow start but once it kicks in it really hits you in the feels.
I'm wondering what's the deal with Mijoo. Like are those her REAL kids? Whose the father? And in tomorrow's preview was it Mijoo who was hugging Kang ho? Why didn't she visit him? Confusion 🤔 anyways this is a hidden gem and I'm loving it. I can't wait till tomorrow.
I have to admit I was setting the bar SUPER low for this when I started watching this but MAN is the acting really making the show a damn good one. After all the lackluster K-BL coming out, I was really just watching this out of bordem but man is the acting really killing it. The ending scene for ep. 1 did it for me when the potter dude really started upping the stakes with the sizzling tension. I'm loving the subtle hints towards the each character's problem and I'm so happy to see WTM from "You Make me Dance" here as the "brother" of the cafe owner. There's some serious tension between him and his so called brother from the way he smacked his hand. I'm so happy that both the production value, acting and air time is of QUALITY. It really does a number on a show if everything just flows and man is this FINALLY a good Korean BL after Semantic Error and Light on Me. Having the extra air time REALLY does help with extended plot and story and thank GOD the writers and actors are good. The stale, woodblock acting lately from Korean BL was starting to disappoint me since Korea has shown in the past that they CAN do fantastic job with BL such as "To my Star" and "WYEL". Fingers crossed that this one remains good and that the plot doesn't take a nose dive but so far I'm LOVING the acting.
Am i the only one who doesn’t get why everyone in the comments likes the husband and want the FL to be with…
completely agree. Like he's clearly calculative and blunt with his materialistic desire, even to his wife when she asked him why he picked her; he said because she was showing the most skin. How much more creepy and obsessive/materialistic can he get? People ship him with her since Dong Eun "seduced" him mentally with her allure towards intellect with GO. I can understand where it's coming from but she's obviously using her wits and has no room for that and even warned Yeon Jung about it. I personally like her with Yeon Jung since he understands her pain more but she's too strong willed and determined for revenge to think about anything else. I honestly am super excited for season 2.
The bullying and revenge storyline and Lee Dohyun's character backstory are very disconnected as of now and so…
I completely agree with what you said. I personally think that there MIGHT be some kind of connection between him and Dong Eun since it seems so out of place to just leave his character like that and unfinished. I LOVE Lee Dohyun as a fan and I thought he was misplaced here for a bit until I saw the knife scene. They're probably sitting on his character due to the whole "sword dance" thing Dong Eun was asking from him. His major role will be season 2 since we know he's quite dangerous underneath his cute façade. Personally I do agree with majority of what you said, he needed more connection and screen time with Dong Eun to make it more believable. Some people say Dong Eun approached him knowing about his father to use him but that doesn't make sense since she would know WHY his passcode is 3724 (inmate's #). I just think we're all sleeping on his potential since he's a great actor and seeing him in this new vigilante, villain role is so refreshing and he has the potential. He's constantly growing as an actor so my hopes are up for him in season 2.
"I'm so used to fluffy censored version of dramas they filter everything"...Same. Also, your preferred genres…
ohhh yeah for sure! Some Korean movies I started watching that were really popular are intense and I got that it was just a long time since I saw something like this but I couldn't have seen this show without all the graphic stuff since it's what makes the show so damn good. The quality really is great due to Netflix so I'm glad that K-dramas have moved on there since more and more creative works are there now.
This was by far one of the best dramas to close 2022 with. I usually am not a fan of dark, suspense, revenge and criminal type genres of dramas since I'm a rom-com and slice of life type of fan but this was FANTASTIC. I usually stay away from huge, heavy dramas like this but I'm so glad I took the courage to actually watch this. I don't know much about SHK as an actress nor have I really watched much of her other dramas so her acting was totally new to me. I'm not sure what people are talking about regarding her "drama" or real life rumors or anything but if her acting is this damn good here I don't see the problem. If she improved then this is the type f dramas she should be acting in. Her lifeless and cold, stiff acting fits this genre and I couldn't see anyone else doing it justice. As for the way the writer handled such HEAVY themes of drugs, sex, bullying, violence, murder, depression, and suicide, I was genuinely surprised and impressed. Korean mainstream shows avoid these like the plague and I'm so used to fluffy censored version of dramas they filter everything that this was a nice slap to the face. I've seen some intense bullying dramas before from other countries but I was surprised at the explicit nature of this show. Some J-drama movies have some intense scenes so seeing this in a K-drama was pretty refreshing to me, although I can understand how some people were put off with it I can understand why they did it. I welcomed the change and intensity.
Life is not all rainbows and roses and SOME of these things do happen even in a censored type of country like Korea. Everything is behind the scenes and nothing like bullying or violence can ever be really filtered regardless of the country so Kudos to the writing team and director for having the guts to make something like this in such a PC country.
In terms of acting, this was a banger for me. EACH actor/actress really outdid themselves and every time I saw any of the bullies on screen, regardless of the young actors acting or when they were older, made me want to either puke, punch someone or just down right wish them a horrible death. Each bully had specific actions, traits and habits that made my face scowl and that blew me away. When a cast this well works together it really brings the show together.
I've got some questions though if someone can clear them for me: What was the medicine that Dong Eun texted to Yeo Jung about? I understand it was about ED or whatever and for males but he was saying something about a substances within the medicine that suggested to me could lead to addiction? And who's medicine was it? It was never clear to me. I know she made that excuse to say goodbye to him and talk with him but I'm confused about that. Another question, who do you really think MIGHT have killed Myeong Oh. Sa Ra or Yeon Jin or even possibly Hye Jeong as she had the green shoes too? Sa Ra was painting the green shows like she was crazy after she was having withdrawal symptoms and what she said when she was at Myeong' apartment "perpetrators returning to the scene of the crime". She had motive as she needed the drugs but then again Dong Eun did use Myeong to try to frame Yeon Jin for murder plus YJ was using some type of rubbing alcohol on her green shoes rubbing them like crazy so what are your thoughts? Last question, her reaction to Jae Joon was completely different to Yeon Jin after not seeming them for a long time. Even though Yeon Jin literally burned her with an iron she was MORE afraid of Jae Joon as she puked after talking to him and she was ready to cry. Some people are saying he could have raped her or sexually assaulted her even though it was Meyong who was doing most of that but I think he did something to her. Besides the rain scene, when he went to the parent event and was saying "I've seen more of her bare skin" suggests more than just him burning her and her scars. Not to mention forcing her in the rain to see her underclothes. He seems the most slimy of them all and in the opening of the show there's a snake around her neck. Any thoughts to him being the representation of the snake and him possibly assaulting her?
Finally I can understand people's reaction to Yeo Jung as a character (LDH). I was super shocked that as an actor LDH decided to join this as I've seen him in 3 rom-com and romance dramas and I'm so used to seeing him in such a bright light way so glad that he's exploring and expanding his acting career. A lot of people are seeing him as a side character and I have to agree for SEASON 1 at least however we're all really sleeping on how important he COULD be for season 2. He's clearly not normal as he's giving me Will graham vibes from the "Hannibal" TV show. ESPECIALLY when during his therapy session he still sees visions of the prisoner who killed his dad. He clearly saw his dad die before his eyes and making the prisoner's # his passcode isn't normal not to mention the knife scene, JESUS THAT WAS scary as hell. Not to mention his sudden obsession and devotion to DE and her revenge. He has mentioned about 2 or 3 times the body weight and height of his "targets" and him being a doctor could make him lethal. Especially when he was describing how he can kill with precision with a knife to Do Young when they were playing GO. True, he was put on the back burner this season but he's obviously much more dangerous then he seems and I think LDH as an actor has the potential to make this character VERY interesting. I was already hooked the moment the knife scene was shown. I wasn't totally invested into his character which is rare for me since I'm a huge fan of him but he TOTALLY got me hooked with that scene. He experiences hallucinations and obsession towards his father's killer and he has shown that he has the determination and physical ability to kill (medical knowledge, the knife and him being fit and running all the time as he worked out). He's gonna be DE's sword as she stated she needs a partner to finish off her sword dance with and what a better way to use him and his affection for her as a weapon. As unfortunate as it seems she is gonna use his affection for her as a weapon. It's clearly one-sided affection from his part but I don't see her reciprocating his affection. She even stated she doesn't want a prince not to mention how she was willing to cut him off since she wanted to spare him from her crimes since she might have seen him as innocent and kind. She MIGHT develop feelings for him since he's the only one who has shown affection and true kindness to her but I'm getting a whole Folie a Deux (madness of 2) vibes. Crimes of passion shared by victims who become the perps which I see could end up happening in season 2 which could bring in some affection between them. I personally ship her with him (not the husband) but that's just me.
Finally way to go for DE seducing the husband with her intellect and his passion for GO. I can see the chemi there but she's clearly too filled with hate and revenge to even consider him as a love interest. As shown with the teacher's son (her befriending him but using him to kill his own father) she's willing to go to extreme lengths to get what she wants however love is another matter. She has no room for that not to mention she was sexually assaulted so anything relating to love or romance has been twisted and bastardized for her. Finally we have yet to see how cruel and truly scary Do Young is. It's ben stated that he's the type to hide how cruel he is so who knows what direction he will take.
Overall fantastic series and I can't WAIT for season 2.
The cello piece you're looking for is Bach Cello suite n.1 in G major ;)
hello thank you! Not the piece when they're dancing at the end, I already knew the name of that one, I meant the one that plays throughout the whole trailer. Honestly I love Bach so it was nice to hear some classical in there. Thanks so much for replying!
I just watched the trailer and hooray! Something new! I was both laughing with joy and squealing at the same time. This is VERY interesting and the idea kinda reminds me of the Korean webtoon action trailer of "The Villainess is a marionette". The quality and production looks awesome and man FINALLY something different and captivating. I'm really tired of the cheesy University, engineering stuff or just all round boring friend romance so this looks awesome. As this was developed specifically for the ship and actors this is darn interesting. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME what the name of the cello music is in the trailer? I've heard it somewhere else and I LOVE it. THE COSTUME DESIGN MADE ME GUSH. I'm looking forward to this. Trailer link is down below with subs for everyone who hasn't seen it <3
What a FANTASTIC start to the second season. Though the wait was long, it was totally worth it to the point where it feels like it didn't even stop. The energy, flow and feelings from season 1 are still there and I was worried for nothing. Go Yoon Jung as Naksu is doing a fantastic job so much so that I don't feel the least bit sad that she's not playing as Naksu. I was really worried the dynamic would shift and totally be ruined with her replacement but I was totally wrong. Her energy, adorable attitude and fresh new look gives Naksu a chance to see her as if she was a normal girl and not to mention we're seeing both Naksu and Co Yeong as the same person being blended together so it's such a wonderful experience to see Naksu as well "normal" if she was never an assassin. I love the dynamic and if Jang Uk starts falling for her, wouldn't be seen as "unfaithful" since he would be falling in love with her all over again. Anyone who's worried about it shouldn't since he's falling in love with her as a person and not just as "Naksu" but so far nothing has happened. At times she unintentionally brings out her "Naksu" attitude, for example the way she was standing and talking with her hands behind her back, her flirtatious attitude and her cunning swift nature is still there so she's still "naksu" so it's gonna be a roller coaster to see her finally get her memories back.
P.S. the mom is annoying as all hell and what she's doing to "Naksu" is total manipulation. I have to say the dark feel and more mature nature to this season works so well and I'm digging it but fingers crossed no more deaths >.<
All my worries so far have been put to bed. I can't wait. Loving it so far <3
omg thank you! So question are these guys legit? I mean they sound and even dance like pros and they can actually…
Hahaha will that makes a ton of sense now! That's wonderful how they took the time to actually BE a group to make their acting all the more real and how they put effort into making them bring on some real singers. I like their music and it's wonderful the effort that was put into this. <3
It's not often that I enjoy JAP dramas since it's the same formula, wood block acting or cliche stories, but man this is nice. It's been a while since I've seem a jap drama that captivated me (besides "silent" that's currently airing as well). SONGS SLAP and man these boys can sing. Not too sure if they're an actual group or just made for the show but they can ACTUALLY sing and based from their moves they can actually dance. Loving this so far!
omg thank you! So question are these guys legit? I mean they sound and even dance like pros and they can actually sing instead of just like normal actors. I'm getting serious vibes. Not to mention we've got LEGENDS YUKI KAJI and freaking Mamoru (2 A list anime voice actors up this in club) so I'm getting serious vibes.
What a wonderful start to a new series. I have to say I stopped watching JP dramas due to the wooden acting, predictable plots and boring characters but this series is something different. Although the plot isn't anything new the acting REALLY carries the show.
I have to say that Minato is really starting to get on my nerves. Although he was a good friend to Sou and he's a good bf to Tsumugi, his behaviour leaves a bitter aftertaste. I must agree with a lot of people on here that Minato is frustrating to say the least. His over the top reaction to Tsumugi first mentioning Sou raises some questions. Minato acting like he's all okay with her meeting Sou, hiding his condition from her and searching obsessively for Sou, when Sou CLEARLY cut contact and wanted to be left alone, shows how insecure he really is in his relationship with Tsumugi. To me it seems like Tsumugi is the more mature and emotionally secure one in their relationship. She was willing to let go of searching for Sou pretty quickly and just wanted some closure on Sou after they met up in the cafe in ep 2. She was comfortable with sharing and introducing her partner to Sou meaning she wants to move on and just wanted closure but based on the preview for ep. 3 Minato is straight up yelling at Sou. Sure Sou cut contact with his best friend but even Tsumugi didn't act like that after meeting Sou again after so many years.
Minato to me seems a bit manipulative and insecure not to mention a bit paranoid. I don't think he's a bad person but I just feel like he rushed into a relationship with Tsumugi when she was healing. Not to mention it seemed a bit weird how he was trying to HELP Tsumugi in episode 1 when they were in highschool with setting her up with Sou. It just seems a bit weird.
Overall I'm loving this series and the cafe scene was frankly so touching. LOVE the acting and chemistry between Sou and Tsumugi. The depiction of hearing loss and disabilities is also handled delicately and I can tell that some care was taken with this show. Overall it's a great start and I'm looking forward to more.
