Lets just sit down, have some tea and talk about how the intro music (chen qing ling) gives SO MUCH nostalgia…
Let's talk about it! I absolutely love instrumental drama OSTs and they are actually quite rare since most dramas have songs as OSTs. The CQL opening sounds so so so majestic and it gives the feeling that we're about to watch something spectacular! I really would love to hear a professional orchestra play it live, that would be an awesome experience Edit: p.s. it's my ringtone LOL
I just watched the first ep. and don't get why people give this drama such a high rate, can someone objectively…
The most well-written plot I've seen in a drama. The best portrayal of these characters I have seen (of course there doesn't exist any other portrayal by anyone else, but each actor fits their role so perfectly it has to be the best I have/will have seen). Gorgeous cinematography Beautiful OST!!! Also, people don't give high ratings based on episode 1, they watch the whole thing :)
I can't help but become emotional when I think about how much of a great father Lan Wangji was. He decided to…
Psst, it may be hard to believe because what you said is so canonical that we take it in with no doubts, but it's technically a big spoiler, so pls use the spoiler tag!
Sorry, which episode are you referring to when you say "now"? Don't want to answer in case I give anything away...
Different viewers can interpret the ending in different ways, but the most popular interpretation is they did end up together. After the events of episode 50, both had to separate ways for some time to deal with things on their own, but eventually reunited on that cliff.
The cinematography alone made up for most of its flaws for me. It's just THAT spectacular. In terms of story,…
I get what you're saying about Baona
But I would have preferred Ji Chong going off on his own and being a free spirit all over again, instead of forcing a "happy ending" onto him.
Also I'm not quite understanding what you meant by "first version"? Was there another version? The Wolf was filmed before The Untamed, so I don't think his fame had anything to do with it right?

Agreed. I feel like the first half when Ma Zhaixing was in Bo Manor they spent waaaay too many episodes with the "I love you but have to push you away" trope. They could have spent some of those episodes explaining more backstory like you said about First Prince, etc.
I was totally annoyed by the sudden Ji Chong + Baona pairing like where tf did that come from?!? Ji Chong doesn't seem like the type that will easily accept someone into his personal circle, but he just took Baona in on the basis of what? Just because her amulet saved his life? And Baona as well, how did she just suddenly realize that she was in love with Ji Chong???? These two characters were decent until this happened and I got so disappointed.
Acting: S-tier (really really amazing performance by everyone) Music: beautiful (I could never skip the intro) Cinematography: stunning (gosh China has such scenery) CGI: pretty good (loved the hedgehogs in the last episode) Story: very meh at beginning but got a bit better at the hallway mark. My main complaint was it was waaaay too long and the whole thing would've been better as 30 episodes max Characters: ...... *facepalm* Emotional factor: pretty much zero. I think the only place I felt something was the last episode So all in all, they had everything to make a good drama, but were missing some very key things. All opinions, don't hate me '_'
Yo I'm totally enjoying these fighting scenes! ! ! (I'm on ep 11 where there are tons of them) and wow I gotta say Wang Yibo with his dance background really doing stellar moves here and Zhao Liying, queen of wuxia, be s l a y i n'! We love a good wuxia drama with beautiful fight choreo *claps*
I don't really enjoy historical cdramas because of the visual effects. Should I still watch this? It seems like…
Some watchers answered similar questions here! There are other FAQs that you may check out if you're interested. https://kisskh.at/discussions/the-untamed/57363-the-untamed-faq Personally I am the opposite from you, I watch historical cdramas because of the visual effects :D. Even if you don't like the visual effects, you can always watch for the story.
What was that ending...? I was already worried it would be super rushed when it was episode 42 and the bad guys still weren't captured, but I was totally not expecting them to rush the ending like that.
Why did their father have to die? What will happen to their mother? She still has PTSD so it's not like Chuyao and Luoshu can just get married. He told her to wait for their marriage at the very end, but how long will that take??? Are they going to wait until their mother somehow magically recovers??? Too many questions for the scriptwriter.
Wait...if the fake princess was the maid of the real princess, and Ma Zhaixing looks so much like the real princess...then why didn't the maid suspect that Ma Zhaixing is the real princess's daughter....?
(I'm not exactly replying to you, just replying about this topic in general) Agreed that The Untamed is definitely xianxia. In my opinion the best way to differentiate is whether characters can fly on their swords. If yes, likely xianxia. If no, likely wuxia. This video explains differences in a Chinese fantasy novel context, but can be applied to dramas too. https://youtu.be/3O3xlh-P1Uc?t=127 I also heard that the genre of xianxia is much newer and novel to even a lot of Chinese audiences, so it's not surprising if the two aren't clearly defined yet.
