Yea I think you're right in that he never really experienced love as a child, so he is expressing it in his own way, much like how Ruyi also never was taught how to love, so she has her own unique way. Agree that in the most recent episodes his infatuation with his shifu has shifted towards admiration, and I hope he keeps this up for the rest of the drama.

This!!! I was scared to say this bc I was afraid ppl would bash me LOL but glad to see someone with the same sentiment. Yang Ying and Li Tongguang would make a pretty good power couple.

Yang Ying is the true protagonist of this drama so far, as her character development is the most interesting and she's the center piece of the plot. Her "serious" scenes as a royal prince are just as fire as Ms. No 1 assassin's fight scenes.

I feel like I might be in the minority, but I still have not lost hope for Li Tongguang, I don't think he is a lost case yet and I still have high hopes for him. His attitudes in 21 and 22 drastically changed for the better from what I saw in 19 and 20, mostly from the help of Ruyi and Yuanzhou both giving him some lessons.

As for Li Tongguang I still have hopes for him given how he reacted in this episode, and 13 also seems to have reserved some faith for him too. In a perfect world I would love to see him become the king of An.

Yea I anticipate him succumbing to his obsessions with her, but I hope he has a turn around at the end and doesn't take his obsessions to his grave...but based on my cdrama experience sadly he seems like the type of character to do exactly that

This! Reflects exactly how I think about Li Tonguang. He's definitely a unique "villain", though because of his stance on upholding peace I'm not sure if he should be considered a villain. When he said he wished to stop wars (I forgot which episode pls remind me anyone) I was so taken aback and immediately I grew more interest in his character. I really hope he doesn't get consumed by his obsessions and turn dark though.

The pronunciation sounds kinda like the word "dung". Like if you google "dung" and listen to the pronunciation that pops up, it's pretty accurate. I'm sorry I couldn't find a prettier word though lol

Ok yea I did think about that as a possibility too. But Fan Xuan is a smart person, I feel like something that important he wouldn’t not tell anyone about where he hid it… I think it may be possible he told his trusted eunuch where it was, but unfortunately the eunuch went insane.

I just finished the drama and uhhh two things,
1. I was really expecting Gu Langhua to come back because I never believed he actually died LOL. So when there were a few minutes left of 40 and he still didn't appear I was utterly shocked.
2. I didn't understand why Fan Xuan chose Xifeng out of all people to hint at where he hid his final decree. He didn't even know her before that night, so he had no reason to randomly trust this stranger with such an important document.

I would say Wang Hedi's acting was the main thing carrying me through. Overall I thought a lot of the plot lacked logical explanations for some of the things that happened. There were loose ends that felt didn't get tied for me. I didn't like how there was so much "hand waving" - meaning things were resolved just because it was meant to resolve like that, or there was a potion to solve this and a spell to solve that. Great example of this is the ending how Dongfang Qingcang revived. Like how exactly did that happen? If they revived him only for the sake of a happy ending then I feel kinda cheated.

I did initially feel the same way you did about the very first few scenes of Ye Shilan and also remember thinking the same way about her. But I think I let that go pretty quickly once I saw that all of that was more for the comedy than anything else. I agree that her jumping to the conclusion that he stole her goat was very ??? but I think she was hostile towards him more for the reason that she thought he was selling fake tinctures to elderly people as a scam. Later on one of the elderly patients "confirmed" this (albeit, mistakenly), so Ye Shilan had more "proof" to dislike him. If we criticize Ye Shilan's behavior, I think there are stuff to say about Lu Zhaoxi too. I remember he said something like "the clothes I'm wearing is more expensive than an entire flock of sheep" or something like that, which was also very rude and entitled too.

Writing this reply also got me thinking of two quotes in the drama that I think backs my point well. One is where Lu Zhaoxi said something like "people have different faces, it just depends on your luck which face you first encounter". I guess we can say that both Lu Zhaoxi and Ye Shilan were unlucky that they ran into the not-so-perfect face of each other first, in the context of the misunderstandings too. The second is Ye Shilan's monologue about how doctors themselves are also regular people, but since the profession is a very noble profession, society likes to label the individual as also one that possesses noble qualities. So yea even if she is a doctor, she's not a perfect person and has her flaws. She initially came off to me in the first few episodes as a very bitter person, but she got better as the drama progressed. Same thing with Director Huang, he's not a good director but he's a good doctor.

I do agree with you about the break up thing. It's just so typical of any modern day drama nowadays that I really was scared it would come up in this drama...and it did. I remembering leaving a comment when I first watched it saying I'm really not sure how to feel about this break up thing because the drama was going very well for me up until then. I still feel that same way now, so yea if there is anything I would want to change about the story, it would be to work around the break up trope. Although I did find it really funny that it was Lu Zhaoxi's mom who suggested the break up, and Lu Zhaoxi's reaction was "does she think my relationship is going too smoothly???" haha
