I am in episode 20, but I am very bored and do not go into history. I should still continue it or abandon it ?
If you really want to skip ahead into the present time again you can read summaries of episodes prior to ep 33. But oppose to doing that you can instead just watch the special edition version which is a more condensed version of the story (20 eps)

Lots of viewers say that this series is among the best there is. I'm already in episode 3 and I find the plot…
Even in the first 3 episodes, so much happen that I will need to write paragraphs to explain (and I don't feel like doing so, but if someone else wants to, go ahead), so I'm not going to.
There are only 5 groups: Yunmeng Jiang Sect, Gusu Lan Sect, Lanling Jin Sect, Qinghe Nie Sect, and Qishan Wen Sect. Two of these groups don't even appear in the first 3 episodes. As far as I remember, from episode 2-3 there aren't any serious conflicts occurring, so there aren't really any groups that are "against" one another. Anything I say about future episodes, though, is a spoiler.
You were probably more confused about episodes 1-2, and all I want to say for that is: we witness a battle that ends with our protagonist's death(?). He then miraculously appears again in Mo Manor 16 years later. Who what when where why how? You will find out as you continue watching :D

I know its part of the story that WWX die then come to life again alone but at ep 33 when he fell down in that…
Are you asking why he didn't throw himself down to bring Wei Wuxian back up or asking why he didn't throw himself down to die alongside Wei Wuxian?
To answer the first question, he was hurt and probably did not have the energy to do that.
To answer the second question, I don't think Lan Wangji was the type to just throw everything away and follow his soulmate to death. at least not the Lan Wangji at that time. If he was this type of person he would've followed Wei Wuxian to the Burial Mounds and we wouldn't have had that rain scene a few episodes back.

For The Untamed fans, is there supposed to be something before this drama? It feels like I'm watching a sequel…
Nope, this is the first and only installment of the story. Maybe the references are about events that happen in the characters' past, but trust that you're not missing out on anything!

It sounds so nice but unfortunately I think it's just a nameless track and isn't part of the soundtrack :(
Now that one definitely does have a name! It's called Drunken Dream and here's the full track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hxbabm5LnSs
One of my favorites in the drama!
The full official instrumental soundtrack was once on YouTube but not anymore :/

Well, I'm sorry that this drama wasn't your cup of tea, and because of that there's nothing else I can say since…
I don't want to say I agree with your comment because I don't want a whole Word of Honor vs The Untamed type of situation.
But for me personally, I don't like to decide whether to engage in something based on the fandom. Because ultimately the fandom doesn't represent the material, and there will always be toxic fans in any sort of fandom.
Word of Honor is being compared so much to The Untamed because it's similar and recently released (blah blah) but I personally don't see much similarity between both lol. I'd say maybe give it a try because one thing that I really liked was the relationship dynamics between the leads. The plot itself was just erm...disappointing.

Not my conversation but you called me out again so here I am.
Just to clarify, what I say represents myself, not other fans on this page (vice versa), so I urge you to stop bunching us up in a package and addressing all of us the same.
Also to clarify, I didn't write my initial comment because what you said had anything to do with my liking of the show or not. I just found it disrespectful to the ancient Chinese culture of naming people and wanted to provide an alternative way of looking at it in a different light. Yes you can say that's just your way of expressing yourself, but to me I saw a mental image of someone throwing their hands in the air frustratingly cursing an aspect of one culture that was confusing them. But I get that tone is hard to infer through text, so I could be wrong.

Ok maybe ironic is the wrong word. Maybe I meant hypocritical? Dude idk, something like that. Fine, if I can't find the right word to use I'll just say this: What you wrote in that paragraph of yours was completely made up by you and not at all what I was saying.

As for the actual topic of discussion, my statement still stands if I change "importance" to "meaning". Because I already defined the word in my first sentence there. In my head I was saying "importance of the meaning of the name and also meaning behind the different name usages in the show" but that phrase was too long so I left out the rest.
But that was just a case of misunderstanding. Hilarious indeed.

My initial intent was never to instigate such negative reactions so I'm not sure why it escalated into this...
In your initial reply to my initial comment you already said you apologize if you came across as rude, so I'm not sure about your change of tone here.
"I said what I said, I meant what I said, and I said what I meant. " I find this so ironic because literally in the next paragraph you are twisting the intent of my original comment into something that is entirely NOT what I meant.
So I will shoot your comment back at you and say for myself: I said what I said, I meant what I said, and I said what I meant. Not whatever that mess you wrote trying to paraphrase what I said.

I kinda meant both meaning of the name and also meaning behind the different name usages in the show. I just wanted to explain that since you expressed that "It’s not the job of the audience to do homework on the meanings of the names. If that information was important it could’ve been woven into the script somehow" and I just wanted to provide a counter argument. Contrary to what you said, audiences do not need to do homework to know the importance because importance was already implied by watching the show, and was definitely woven in the script.

Well, I'm sorry that this drama wasn't your cup of tea, and because of that there's nothing else I can say since…
I could argue that the multiple names of the characters in The Untamed had a huge amount of importance to the story.
Consider Lan Wangji, who is also Lan Zhan and also Hanguang Jun. You would notice that only specific characters call him by specific names. For example, Wei Wuxian only calls him Lan Zhan and the occasional Lan Wangji when he's angry. The Juniors call him Hanguang Jun and only that. Why? Because just the simple act of calling him by a specific name tells great importance about the relationship between the characters. Viewers certainly do not have to go do research/homework about the meaning behind the names to understand the importance of this aspect of the drama (of course we could if we want to understand the characters more in depth).
TLDR; We get to learn a lot about the characters' interactions with each other purely by the name that they choose to use to refer to a character. And because of that I argue that having multiple names for characters deepens the character's overall influence on the story and on one another.

I dropped this a few months ago at ep 35 but after finishing Word of Honor and loving it, I decided to give it…
Well, I'm sorry that this drama wasn't your cup of tea, and because of that there's nothing else I can say since it's just your opinions. In fact, I have the opposite opinions about Word of Honor lol. But again, opinions can't be argued.
Though I have to comment on your comment about each character having many """fucking""" names. Well, this drama takes place in an ancient China setting, so that is just the culture and tradition there for people to have multiple names. I mean, if you watch any other xianxia or wuxia drama you will find that this is common. It happens in Word of Honor too, so I'm not sure why you're not complaining about that one (Just think of how many different nicknames Wen Kexing calls Zhou Zishu). If this was confusing to you in The Untamed, I understand, but there was no need to use such negative language to talk about it. If you took the time to understand the meanings behind the characters' multiple names, you might find to respect the author's character naming and the depth in just their names alone, not to mention the depth of the entire show.

Been wondering if i should start this drama or not since i havent watched any bl drama yet tho i'm familiar already…
The ""bromance"" element does not affect the fact that it's a good xianxia drama with a good plot :D
And yes the ending is beautiful~

How did Wen Ning get Baxia? The last time we saw him, he was running towards the clouds of resentful energy. Then,…
Good point, I think you're right that it might've just been the blade spirit in Yi City. It's most probably that Jin Guangyao hid Baxia in Jinling Tai along with the head. You're welcome!
