i'm afraid i don't like it
What can I say except..."be strong and don't give up", as your profile pic suggests
For a more serious reply: Idk what your purpose of writing this comment was. If you're looking for encouragement to continue then you'll have to provide more info. If you're commenting just to express your disappointment then there's nothing I can say.

My favourite support role is Wen Ning. He tugs at my heartstrings. I always find myself praying for his safety…
he is often referred to as "cinnamon roll" or "best boi" by fans for a reason xD

I'm watching the Donghua and this at the same time and I'm considering dropping the Netflix/live version. I'm…
Is the donghua boring for you too? They are essentially the same story so if you like the story you see in the donghua then the drama isn't much different. Maybe you can try finishing the donghua and then go for the drama? But note that the donghua isn't complete yet.
Edit: saw your comment below about loving the donghua. I'll just write my reply to your comment below here. Note that censorship applies to the donghua as well, so there really isn't a difference there. I'm not sure if you mean "magic" as in literal magic (casting spells/talismans, etc) or figurative magic (charm, appeal of the drama) but lemme just point out that donghua/anime is able to show more dramatic displays of literal magic just because it's easier to animate those displays rather than act them out, so if you mean literal magic, then the donghua might be a tad bit more """cool""". But in terms of figurative magic, I think the drama wins by faaaaar purely because the opposite reason: some things are better portrayed with real actors rather than animated characters (especially facial expressions).

Now, in episode 12 and I'm jealous of the people who are at the point where the drama hooked them. I'm still not…
I don't think there is a defining point in the drama that hooks people lol. If there is then it's different for everyone I guess. I really really wish I could go back in time and watch myself watch for the first time so I am actually jealous of you watching it for the first time heh.

From my bad Mandarin understanding hahaha, 山河令 literal meaning is Mountain and Rivers Order. 令 (ling)…
Thanks! I speak Mandarin so I have that advantage when trying to interpret stuff. I just thought that there would be more importance given to that token since it's the title of the drama but there wasn't so I was confused and wanted to know the inspiration for the title. But someone above mentioned it's the name of book 2 so that makes sense. And I wasn't aware of the deeper meaning behind "mountains and rivers".

Actually the drama was supposed to be called Atale of wanderers & they changed the title at the last minute
yea ok thanks!

shan he ling is the name of the second volume to the novel tian ya ke, the chinese censorship board just likes…
adding on to that, I guess I can interpret the title this way: the "shan he ling" in the martial arts world is to uphold "word of honor" haha, kind of like the chinese title is the question and the English translation is the answer

thanks for the response! Well I think changing names of dramas based on existing IPs is reasonable since the stories often times are an adaptation and not a copy/paste after all

lol the literal translation of "shan he ling" is "the command of the mountains and rivers" which does not mean "word of honor", but the interpretation is probably that. So I guess the title or the actual token thing in the drama don't have much significant per se, but rather symbolize the overarching theme of the story which, as said in that interview, is the martial arts world's commitment to something.
On Word of Honor May 10, 2021
does anyone know the explanation for why the drama was named the way it is? I vaguely remember when Ye Baiyi first made an appearance he handed over a token to Gao Chong and it was also called "shan he ling" like the title (if I remember correctly), so naturally I kept it in mind because I thought the token would be important. But it never significantly appeared again lol. So I'm curious what's the inspiration for the title?

Just looking at your list I think you and I have very similar tastes. Eternal Love was my #1 until The Untamed…
Yes other's opinions can influence one's decision but you made it sound like my comment alone made you think twice about watching word of honor, and all I'm saying is don't lol. And also I never said word of honor wasn't worth the time either js

right! He gets so much crap saying his acting was too "acted" or "dramatic" but Jiang Cheng as a character is…
maybe my language was a bit extreme lol I'm not entirely sure if he got targeted for bad acting, but whenever I do hear about acting in The Untamed from fans all of the criticism is directed at his acting. He addressed the eye rolling thing in one of the interviews.
Yea agreed about his character being misunderstood

I'm not going to talk much more about word of honor since this is the wrong page, so last things I will say about it:
First, I never said it had mediocre production, that was just you maximizing what I said. Second, idk what FX means. Third, "bromance" again is only your interpretation, but it's not mine, so whether you decide the bromance thing is a hit or miss is entirely up to you.
Lastly I just wanted to say, i don't think it's wise to make a decision on a drama based on fan opinion (e.g. me). Sometimes opinions can be helpful, but what's most helpful is if you just watch and interpret it on your own.

Okay but can we talk about Marius wang like damm that was his first acting role and he did incredibly well. IMO…
right! He gets so much crap saying his acting was too "acted" or "dramatic" but Jiang Cheng as a character is dramatic and sassy af so I thought it was an awesome portrayal.

You're willing to give Word of Honor a try but it doesn't fit any of what you said above, right? It's production and visual effects aren't top notch, it doesn't feature "brilliant" cast (although, like The Untamed, acting is good), it doesn't exactly start off "epic" either. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You even said yourself that to fully understand Royal Nirvana in all its glory you have to watch the whole thing, so the same thing applies to The Untamed. You did not even get past 1/4 of the show so how can you begin to understand its complexity? How many c-dramas are there that you watched that hit you with full force complexity right at the start? (none for my opinion from what I see on your list that I've watched)

There's no need to compare how "mean" your rating is compared to others lol. If you saw The Untamed as a 1 but rated it as a 3 you might as well just rate it a 1, because ratings are supposed to be honest, right.
From how I understand your comments, you seem to be pretty certain that you dislike this show and have no intentions on continuing, so I don't understand why you're still hoping for "something special" that can make you continue. And frankly, you're not exactly being helpful in letting us know what could help you continue watching. I'm not trying to start a dispute here, but you're giving me contradicting points. If you really want motivation to continue, then I would be glad to try to help you figure it out because I think everyone should watch it, but if you're dead set on not continuing, then I'm not gonna waste my time.
