I cannot understand how this has an 8.0 rating and other current , more interesting series have been rated much…
The one thing about ratings that i’ve found to be pretty consistent is age of viewers. Young viewers generally rate BL shows higher than older viewers. So, if the percentage of older viewers is low - the show will have a higher overall rating.
Oh My Assistance (8.0) - 24.1% viewers 25-45 My School President (8.3) - 18.3% viewers 25-45
Thus, youth oriented shows get higher ratings overall. Either young voters are more generous, or older voters are more stingy, or both.
This is my favorite on-going show right now. I absolutely love the storytelling in Taiwanese BL series. Plus,…
The repugnant physical abuse by the father needs to be condemned. I’ve no doubt that goes on, but I hope it’s resolved in such a way that makes it clearly unacceptable.
This is my favorite on-going show right now. I absolutely love the storytelling in Taiwanese BL series. Plus, I love learning about different cultures and how they care for each other. This is a wonderful love story with such a cast of characters - i’ve fallin in love with them all. ❤️
Mo chuisle, mo chroi. It’s apparently from the lyrics of an Irish song - mo chuisle, meaning "my pulse" as used in the phrase a chuisle mo chroí, which means "pulse of my heart", and thus mo chuisle has come to mean "darling" or "sweetheart".
I loved it from beginning to end. Gripping, emotional, difficult characters brought this story to life in true K-drama fashion. In fact, the BL aspect was almost secondary. Even up to the last half of the last episode I had no idea how it would end, and I don’t think it could have ended on more of a positive note. I didn’t realize until the closing credits that i had such a big smile on face as tears dried. Really well done - a nearly perfect package tied up with a beautiful bow to cap it off.
i don't think between us is a fair comparison considering its a side story to an already incredibly popular show…
That’s true too! So, my point is simply that it’s difficult to compare ratings - even within the same category such as BL. So for example, the fact that Between Us is rated much higher than Happy Ending Romance doesn’t mean that it is objectively better, because there are other factors in play - such as the ones you and I mentioned.
For those of you interested in comparing ratings, I compared several currently airing BL dramas. In every case 18-24 years olds rated the shows higher than 35-44 year olds.
Of this bunch... The highest rated BL "Between Us" at 8.3 had the lowest % of 35-44 yo viewers. The lowest rated BL "Happy Ending Romance" at 7.6 had the highest % of 35-44 yo viewers.
Thus, it seems youth oriented dramas tend to be rated higher.
I hate, hate, hate this fake insipid looking for the angles kisses. I rather have them no kiss at all than do…
LOL…the whole - i got so drunk i couldn’t remember what happened last night until i saw the dozen of perfectly drawn sketch’s i drew - was so contrived.
I’m frequently surprised when I compare MDL ratings from one show to the next. I’m beginning to think that perhaps more mature shows (like this one) attract an audience that is less liberal with they’re ratings, and that youth oriented shows attract a younger audience that is more generous with their 10s.
