up until university part I was ready to slam my head to the wall. Gosh most of the characters were so annoying. But as the drama progressed, their actions and decisions were justified.. In a nutshell, ZY is a coward, HL is selfish and FX is annoying! Overall this drama is pretty good. The acting is amazing!!
I can tolerate bad plot but I absolutely cannot tolerate bad characters. Unfortunately this drama has an interesting plot but very bad characters XD.. I enjoy watching makjang drama every now and then but this drama is just bad. No guys, you don't leave your ambition for love. Love doesn't help pay the bill and you don't trick people into marrying you.!!
Sharing border with thailand, i can testify how relatable this series is to my country.. i have watched western series but i can never relate to their characters and stories because of different culture and belief. This also applies to westerners that don't understand SEA's culture. Hence finding this drama boring or unrelatable... this is my 2nd thai drama and i was surprised on how similar our school culture is!! We do prayer at the start of all event for blessing. We also greet our teacher at the start and thank them at the end of class.. in my school we say "thank you teacher, forgive our wrongdoings teacher, bless our knowledge teacher".. culture i dont see in kdrama/cdrama/western series.
One of the reviewers wrote about the characters being a monk. Personally i think religion still plays a big part in SEA. Thus, Phai sent to become a monk is no news to me. I have a friend who was sent to religious institution by her parents and she came out better. But in the west most of them think religion is a scam XD
My favourite scene is when Win and Kwan were at the bench and she asked if she could smoke cigarette and win said "no! It is not good for you" (sort of).. that happened to me! u know the bad guy can be a douche but theyre actually really nice to people they care ;)

this drama is so tiring to watch. since episode one the character are always crying zzzzz. too many fillers in each episode. 50 mins would suffice. but this drama is among the better saeguks that came out in recent years.
The first 4 eps were amaaaaazing and even more exciting than the first season but the last 2 eps dragged it down…
yeah most probably the character development. i really hate it when they make kdrama into series the western way. i absolutely do not like western series because they lack character development. there's only so much u can cramp into 6 or 10 episodes in a season.
up til episode 4 i was ready to rate this season a 9. then episode 5 hmm okay. the last episode? meh.. i thought the queen was a smart character but the last episode just blew her intelligence off. id still watch the next season tho.
I needed a break from Chinese historical drama because I’ve been watching too much of it as there were not a lot of saeguks that looks appealing to me since last year. I am not a fan of romcom/romance/comedy at all (Sometimes I do watch just to steer away from heavy plot as Im more into heavy political drama). this drama ticks all the boxes of how a light hearted saeguks should be(which most in the past failed miserably). It has got good characters, well written script, Pretty costumes, nice musical scores, steadily paced,, good acting (I like GHR’s maid she’s hilarious XD), good plot. I like how the plot really revolves around historian and not some random tragedy being thrown into it.
We all thought there would only be three seasons but it is definitely not finished. If you don't want to be left…
It would’ve been a hit Like SFD if it was made into normal format I think. Was never a fan of series, which is why I love Asian dramas. I don’t like waiting for the next season when you can just finish it off in a 50 episode drama. Goshh I hope they dont leave it hanging.
