it's more to sfd. the earlier episodes are really really really slow and long. the drama gets interesting around episode 20-25, and it peaks around episode 40. i watch the first episode and then drop but pick it up again after a few months and i watch 1 episode a day until it gets interesting. u really need to take your time with this one.
pingjing has always been the baby in the family, that is why pingzhang is there to constantly remind him and his father to reprimand him. when he came back to see his father after a year of seclusion it was very emotional for me. especially the scene when he kowtow to his father and refused to get up and cry to his heart's content because of the guilt he's feeling. i swear the moment he refused to budge my tears just flowed down. another scene is when his father complimented him, which i think was the first time the father ever compliemented him and he cried. Honestly i like pingjing for his, in malay we call it "manja" which translates to pamperedness but not in a spoilt way but rather a childish behaviour u do when ure around someone ure close to especially family members, in this case pingjing's childish behaviour towards his father and brother. i like it when he expresses his feelings, how he would just cry or he would run away from problem. thats just his nature. that shows hes just a normal human being. i personally feel connected to him for that reason because i too do the same. it is just one of the ways to console myself. ofcourse people handle things differently.
i really really really like tingsheng. such an amazing father figure and a loyal person. also im having a love-hate relationship with xun baishui. that guy is such a jerk but hes a very reasonable man. i mean what he did to changling manor is bad but at the same time he also acknowledge them as a brilliant general ughh. and he doesn't blindly trust people. he even reason with the empress. that shows that he can differentiate whats important and whats not, whats right and whats wrong. omg im conflicted with this guys yelp!!!
after the news of NIF2 started filming right after NIF stopped airing i had my doubts. i wanted the writer to have all the time in the world to make another mind blowing story on par with NIF. i dont mind waiting. really. but NIF2 isnt that bad just a few flaws here and there. but i want NIF3!!! cant get enough of this series. should they make another series please let it be during lin shu's childhood and the fall of Chi Yan army, or prince Yu's background or during prince Jing's reign because i want my Wang Kai back. or maybe the writer should stop writing NIF and write something else because even if she writes 10 series of NIF the fans still want more lol.
ahhh chen xiao!! i fell in love with him in nothing gold can stay. i just wished this movie was made into drama coz i cant get enough of him and Zhou Dong Yu!!!
this drama is fun to watch but everything else is just ok. maybe because im used to watching long period dramas 24 episode felt a little rush. it'd be great if the love triangle was focused more because the xiao jie part is so boring and it doesnt do much with the plot

u should watch the advisor's alliance! its on my top list for chines historical dramas after nirvana in fire. also the second season which ive yet seen (because its not subbed anywhere) but i know itd still be really good
this is the only drama by sun li that i managed to complete (i dropped halfway the legend of zhen huan and of mi yue because its too slow for me). i was hooked from the very first episode until the end with this one despite the "ridiculous" and "merry go round" plot. and i have to say, the directing and scriptwriting are excellent. honestly. there were multiple times that i was in awe of a scene. the characters are also very well written and developed. that scene when zhao bai shi threw his coat around wu yi it was very mesmerising. u see that a lot in dramas but they made it so beautiful that i was in awe to the extent i went "woaa" literally. there are other really good scenes but that one is my fav. and theres that "full moon" that one is also sweet!!! if i were to list the scnese it'd be one heck of a list xD i will definitely rewatch this solely for the romance. also the costume is the prettiest so far for drama in that period. usually the costume would be too bright and shiny.
gahhh i put this drama on hold after watching it up to ep 13 because i want to wait until it finish airing. now that i read a lot of negative reviews idk if i should resume this drama. i just finished a 74 episode drama and idk if i can afford another 75 long and slow drama. is it that bad??
on another note, i was kinda relieved lol, or else NIF2 might have a competitor to win the awards this year xD

Exactly! It's funny how previously i never liked fantasy drama (watched a few but dropped them) until eternal love. The plot isnt that great unlike this drama but the romance is amazing. Bad idea that i watched this right after eternal love lol. Also Its crazy how they try to pair everyone up and cramp everything into 1 drama. Super ambitious id say . Too many potentials wasted

i have a feeling this drama wont disappoint but at the same time wont be as intriguing as the first one. but i still have high hopes for this drama!! i just hope that people wont complain about this drama just because it isnt like NIF1 and give low rating(unless its really bad, tho i doubt).
