well yea it's comparable to rebel thief who stole the people. ive seen the drama and i love it! but i like the plot in this one better(so far). i could not agree more on the character development in rebel thief, they did amazing with the characters and acting was stellar. so far im not getting that feeling with this one. maybe because of the character separation. one is stuck in the palace, another one is a peddler wandering, then one is ousted from her village and one is a merchant. but in recent episode everyone seems to be reuniting slowly so i hope it will develop better. im very picky when it comes to historical drama coz it's my fav genre but surprisingly for this drama im hooked from the very first episode until the latest episode.

i hope they sub this coz this drama is one of my most anticipated dramas of 2017. ive given up on legend of the condor heroes and legend of the dragon pearl to get subbed :(

JayRandom, quite a number of people say this drama is similar to moon lovers which i totally disagree. other than the crown prince has to wear the mask i dont see anything else similar. like u said the plot in moon lovers is very light and revolves around the palace and fight for the throne. and the romance in there is very strong. whereas in this drama the plot is heavier(but not as heavy as SFD) and revolves in and out of the palace. but the romance in this drama isnt as strong as moon lovers. so far the romance isnt progressing and u dont have that in awe moments like u had in moon lovers. we only know that the crown prince and ga eun have mutual feelings. maybe the poster shows that romance is the main theme but so far im not seeing any interactions/actions between the leads to say that romance is the main focus. idk we still have long way to go so yeah

yes i agree with you namopanik about moomyung being a shadow. im not comparing both dramas im just getting the feeling like i had with SFD. this drama is not as complex and heavy as SFD but have similar elements. moo myung controls politic so does pyunsoo thats why it reminds me of moomyung. if u have seen SFD then u will notice the similarities in the plot. SFD has ample time to gradually reveal everything, this drama only has 40 episodes for 30 mins which is equivalent to 20 episodes for the typical 1 hour. it is good as it is i'd say. also on episode 16, theres another secret organization running thats what im excited about. still long way to go though. i hope the latter half doesnt disappoint. but so far this drama is good.

im getting six flying dragons vibe in this drama(but ofcourse SFD is on a whole new level). pyunsoo is like moo myung and that kisaeng is like hwasadan. idk which part of the drama is draggy. to me the plot is unfolding bit by bit to topple pyunsoo and the characters are all largely contributing to that process. i dont think romance is the main focus here but rather it will influence the plot, how the story unfolds. also the comparison with the female leads? of course each have distinct traits. hwa gun is the "badass" kinda girl but she's emotionally driven. ga eun on the other hand is very wise but very fragile at the same time. 2 different characters. i really love this drama so far and dae mok?! daym he give me chills every time.

my friend recommended this drama so i had to give it a try. honestly this drama is pretty good. i love the storyline and acting is superb. but i have problems with the characters particularly ye hua. he's very impulsive and pushy. after the ordeal he kinda get a hold of himself better but he still get on my nerves sometimes lol. also his romance with susu and bai qian are so hard to watch sometimes.of course there are sweet and sad moments that i love between them that i still replay just to make me go crazy or cries a bucket, but i like the romance between feng jiu and dong hua better(just that feng jiu is too childish and annoying at times but still tolerable). don hua is easily my fav character <3. looks like im in the minority for this drama hah. oh and li jing good lord i hate him so much. the type of guy that clings to his ex gf ugh *rolls eyes* overall it is still good but this will be a one time drama for me

as long as the plot is good then im in. i just hope the romance doesnt spoil the drama. warrior baek dong soo has been on my plan to watch list for quite a while now lol will check it out later

does this drama mainly focuses on romance? because after SFD ive only been interested in saeguks with heavy plot or really good plot. i dont mind romance as long as there's substance in the drama. im definitely gonna watch this. just wanna know what to expect so that i wont get disappointed
